I See Murders Before They Happen
Chapter 153 - 151: You’re Controlling My Body?Chapter 153: Chapter 151: You’re Controlling My Body?
Su Miaoyi got out of her car and entered the Fengjiang Group building.
As she was about to head for the elevators, she suddenly heard fighting from the stairwell.
She walked over.
She pushed open the door and stepped inside, seeing Lu Zhishen on the steps leading up.
He was being held in a chokehold from behind.
A man in black had one of his hands restrained by Lu Zhishen, while his other arm was hooked around Lu Zhishen’s neck.
Meanwhile, Lu Zhishen’s other hand was gripping Jiang Yaozu’s arm.
Jiang Yaozu was trying to run up the stairs, but with Lu Zhishen holding on, he couldn’t escape.
So, Jiang Yaozu turned to fight back.
Lu Zhishen took a hard blow to the chest.
He then threw the man in black to the ground with one hand and started grappling with Jiang Yaozu.
It all happened too fast.
In the blink of an eye.
By the time Su Miaoyi rushed forward, the man in black had already been taken down.
The man in black tried to get up again.
Su Miaoyi kicked him in the back, pulled out a pair of handcuffs, and cuffed him to the stair railing.
Lu Zhishen was still fighting Jiang Yaozu.
The two of them fought their way up the stairs.
Su Miaoyi started up the stairs to help, but more people were coming up from below.
"My earpiece fell out. Get them to send backup," Lu Zhishen said, seeing the men coming up from below.
Su Miaoyi tilted her still-aching neck and pressed her earpiece. "Captain Kang, stairwell between the first and second floors. Jiang Yaozu is here. Requesting backup."
She had no problem dealing with the men coming up, but she was a little worried about Lu Zhishen.
After all, Lu Zhishen usually seemed like the type to just stay cooped up at home.
As she spoke, she grabbed the railing and launched a flying kick at one of the ascending men, sending him tumbling back down.
Two men came up.
Su Miaoyi fought them both.
They both pulled knives.
The stairwell was too restrictive, leaving no room to move.
Su Miaoyi dodged a thrusting knife, blocked the man’s arm, and with a sharp twist of her hands, dislocated his wrist. The knife clattered to the floor instantly.
She used the man as a shield, shoving him away while grabbing the railing and launching a side kick that sent the other man flying into the wall.
Su Miaoyi’s usually placid expression suddenly turned vicious.
The man charged forward again. She dodged him twice, then suddenly grabbed his arm, dislocating it as she kicked the back of his knee.
The man in black collapsed to his knees on the edge of a step.
Su Miaoyi grabbed his hair and slammed his head viciously against the wall.
Blood instantly gushed from the man’s head.
The other one with the dislocated wrist came forward, and Su Miaoyi threw him down the stairs. Then she grabbed the kneeling man’s head again, ready to slam it into the wall once more.
Her eyes glinted with a vicious, bloodthirsty excitement.
But before his head hit the wall, her hand froze. Her expression returned to its usual placidness, followed by surprise.
’You took control of my body?’ she asked the voice in her head.
’This is my body, too,’ the voice in her head replied coldly.
’So what if it’s your body? It’s mine, too. What were you just trying to do? If I hadn’t taken back control, were you going to kill him?’
As she argued internally, Su Miaoyi used her last pair of handcuffs on the man in black.
’Doesn’t he deserve to die?’ the voice asked.
’Even if he does, it’s not your place to do it.’ Su Miaoyi sensed something different about her other self. ’I’m applying to be a detective in a year. Don’t cause any trouble.’
The voice in her head went silent.
The man in black who had been thrown down the stairs climbed back up.
’Perfect. Saves me the trouble of going down to get him.’
Su Miaoyi looped the handcuffs through the stair railing, cuffing the other man in black as well.
All three men in black were now cuffed to the stairs.
She hurried upstairs.
Lu Zhishen and Jiang Yaozu had nearly fought their way to the third floor.
’When I saw him in Jinghai, this Jiang Yaozu looked like an old man with bad legs.’
’Who would have thought he could still fight so well at his age?’
’One look at his moves and I knew he was highly skilled.’
’He’s a damn good actor.’
Su Miaoyi ran upstairs but didn’t intervene.
Lu Zhishen already had Jiang Yaozu pinned to the ground.
He landed a heavy punch.
The corner of Su Miaoyi’s eye twitched.
Jiang Yaozu was seeing stars from the blow and couldn’t get up.
"You bastard! You took my parents’ lives for a project!" Lu Zhishen growled, continuing to punch him. "Jiang Yaozu! I’ve waited seventeen years for this day!"
"They got in my Jiang family’s way, so they deserved to die!" Jiang Yaozu sneered. "I should have gotten rid of you back then! I should have arranged an accident and killed you, too!"
"Now, you’re the one who’s going to die." Lu Zhishen’s voice was as calm and slow as usual, but it sent a chill down the spine. "Go to hell."
Su Miaoyi glanced at the security camera above the stairs, then back at Lu Zhishen.
He was raining down punch after punch, each one delivered with full force.
Su Miaoyi didn’t stop him.
’Seventeen years of hatred for the murder of his parents. Even if Jiang Yaozu and the entire Jiang family died, his parents were still gone. The past would haunt him for the rest of his life.’
Finally, when she felt he had had enough—that any more punches would kill Jiang Yaozu—she acted.
She stepped forward and grabbed Lu Zhishen’s arm. "Alright, stop."
Lu Zhishen tried to shake her off.
Su Miaoyi gripped his arm with both hands. "Lu Zhishen, we still have a lot to ask him. If he dies, it’ll be a huge problem."
"I’ll trade my life for his." Lu Zhishen truly wanted to kill him. "Leave. Pretend you never saw me. I’ll take care of the security footage."
Su Miaoyi said, "We came together, we leave together. Don’t give me that bullshit about me going back to report on my own. Get up."
Lu Zhishen looked at her.
"Think of how many people he’s hurt. We still need to question him about so many things. There might be others waiting to be rescued. He can’t die yet," Su Miaoyi said.
Lu Zhishen’s eyes flickered.
Su Miaoyi forcefully pulled him to his feet.
Lu Zhishen stepped aside.
Su Miaoyi looked at Jiang Yaozu, then at Lu Zhishen. "Give me the handcuffs."
Lu Zhishen gave her the handcuffs he was carrying.
Su Miaoyi cuffed Jiang Yaozu to the stair railing as well.
She shook the railing.
’This poor railing has been through a lot today.’
Lu Zhishen stood with his eyes downcast.
Su Miaoyi glanced at the blood on his hands.
Just then, backup arrived.
Song Yucheng arrived with his team. "Is everyone alright?"
"We’re fine." Su Miaoyi caught a faint smell, the kind that only comes from a gun being fired. "What’s the situation in the parking garage?"
"All the men in black are under control, but there’s no sign of Jiang Junrui," Song Yucheng said. "We’re still looking."
Su Miaoyi glanced at Jiang Yaozu. "He’s here."
Song Yucheng waved, and the officers behind him took Jiang Yaozu back to the car.
Su Miaoyi and Lu Zhishen followed Song Yucheng to the parking garage.
On the second basement level, they pushed open the stairwell door.
The smell of gunpowder.
There were far more men in black in the parking garage than Su Miaoyi had expected.
Judging by how long it took backup to arrive, she could tell how intense the fight here must have been.
’But where did Jiang Junrui go?’
’Where could someone hide in a parking garage?’
