I Tame Beasts by Feeding

Chapter 300 - 258: Blood Moon Wolf King

Chapter 300: Chapter 258: Blood Moon Wolf King

The Colorful Star Deer smoothly broke through to the Tier Two Fifth Layer, and the resulting feedback simultaneously advanced Yu Changsheng’s own cultivation.

"Good. You’ve finally broken through. Be patient; you two are next."

Yu Changsheng stroked the Colorful Star Deer and nodded in satisfaction before speaking to the Red Refining Snake and Golden-Winged Eagle nearby.

He had only been walking for a short while and had already encountered three Fog Beasts. This was a density Yu Changsheng had never seen in the previous two patches of white fog.

This meant the patch of white fog was immense, and the number of Fog Beasts it contained was likely innumerable. For Yu Changsheng, this was a good thing.

As his three Spirit Beasts’ cultivation levels increased, the amount of Beast Taming Origin required for them to advance again had more than doubled. For small, hundred-li patches of white fog, even five might not have been enough. This place, however, solved his pressing problem.

’If it weren’t for that Vajra Celestial Ape, the Colorful Star Deer wouldn’t have broken through so smoothly.’

Yu Changsheng shook his head, remaining vigilant of his surroundings as he ventured deeper into the fog.

The white fog was vast, but fortunately, the Fog Beasts on the periphery were mostly only at the Tier Two First or Second Layer. With Yu Changsheng’s strength, clearing them out was no trouble at all.

’If I could find a few more Fog Beasts like the Vajra Celestial Ape, my Spirit Beasts would break through much faster.’

But Fog Beasts like the Vajra Celestial Ape were rare, he mused. A single one was worth dozens of ordinary Fog Beasts.

ROAR ROAR ROAR!!

The sound of roaring echoed intermittently from within the white fog, its source impossible to pinpoint as it shifted from near to far.

The blood moon in the sky reached its zenith at midnight, flaring with intense light. Its crimson glow cut through the firmament, pierced the dense white mist, and stained it a faint shade of red.

In an instant, the fog turned the color of blood. From a distance, the immense mist resembled a Sea of Blood, giving it an eerie, sinister, and terrifying appearance.

ROAR ROAR ROAR!!

The roars, once only occasional, suddenly became a continuous chorus, echoing from all directions and merging into a single, overwhelming sound.

Frenzied auras surged forth with the churning blood fog, one after another in astonishing numbers. Pairs of scarlet eyes glinted from within the mist.

THUD! THUD! THUD!

The heavy thud of footsteps, like the pounding of a furnace-like heart or a series of muffled thunderclaps, suddenly echoed all around. The sound of heavy, ragged breathing followed.

Yu Changsheng’s eyes narrowed. He watched the sudden transformation of the fog with caution, forming a defensive circle with his three Spirit Beasts. They stood their ground, ready for battle.

Although his Divine Sense was suppressed by ninety percent in this place, it wasn’t enough to render him completely blind. He wouldn’t be left entirely on the defensive.

Within the blood-red mist, the silhouettes of colossal beasts flashed past. They moved in unison, causing the ground to tremble and the fog to swirl in their wake.

’Something’s off about these auras.’

Musing, Yu Changsheng took a slow step. The Golden-Winged Eagle cried out, and a great gust of wind blew the blood-red mist aside, briefly clearing his view. Though the fog quickly closed in again, it was long enough to reveal a glimpse of what lay beyond!

One after another, wolf-like Fog Beasts with heavy footfalls completely surrounded Yu Changsheng. A quick glance revealed a densely packed mob of varying shapes and sizes—dozens of them at least.

Perhaps due to the influence of the bloody mist, these Fog Beasts, which should have been white, had all turned a crimson color. A bloodthirsty light gleamed in their eyes, and their auras had grown even more frenzied. All reason was gone, leaving only raw instinct.

’Blood Moon Wolves... So I’ve walked right into a wolf pack. These Fog Beasts...’

Yu Changsheng’s eyes narrowed, his expression turning grim. He unleashed his Divine Sense with all his might, stretching it to cover as much of the area as possible. Every single movement was seared into his mind.

Blood Moon Wolves were ferocious and bloodthirsty by nature. Outwardly, they were not much different from ordinary wolves. Their most distinct feature was the dark red crescent moon on their foreheads, which served as a medium for them to commune with the moon and use its light for cultivation.

They preferred to move in packs and would hunt their chosen prey relentlessly, making them incredibly difficult to shake.

Without a doubt, Yu Changsheng had now become their chosen prey.

AWOOO!!!

The moonlight was like blood, the mist like an ocean. As if on command, the Blood Moon Wolf at the forefront threw back its head and let out a long howl. At the sound, the surrounding Fog Beasts erupted into a frenzy. All hesitation vanished as they charged, their cold, gleaming fangs looking all the more terrifying under the crimson light.

SLASH!

Their claws were so sharp they seemed to rip through the air itself. One after another, the Blood Moon Wolves charged. Though they threw themselves forward with reckless abandon, their attack was orderly as they swarmed toward Yu Changsheng and his three beasts in a ferocious, densely packed wave.

"Perfect timing! If I kill all of you, then..."

Yu Changsheng took a deep breath. He faced the Blood Moon Wolf Pack with a grave expression, but there wasn’t a hint of fear in his heart. With a wave of his sleeve, a vast Sea of Fire materialized, roaring to life.

The Red Refining Snake hissed, its forked tongue flicking. A scarlet light glinted in its cold, reptilian eyes as black flames erupted from its body, engulfing it completely.

The Colorful Star Deer let out a soft cry, its spiraling antlers glowing with seven-colored light. Instantly, towering trees burst from the ground, their branches intertwining to form a dense thicket that pierced into the pack, scattering the wolves and drawing blood.

The Golden-Winged Eagle swooped low. With a beat of its wings, it unleashed an endless Black Wind that either descended as sharp Wind Blades or coalesced into raging tornadoes. In an instant, the wolf pack was filled with howls of agony.
