I Tame Beasts by Feeding

Chapter 319 - 267: Seeing Elder Wei Again

Chapter 319: Chapter 267: Seeing Elder Wei Again

Yu Changsheng sat atop the Red Mountain Sub-Dragon’s back, enveloped by layers of a yellowish-red Light Shield. It not only held his body steady but also blocked the rushing Gang Wind, serving as protection.

"Red Mountain Sub-Dragon, let’s go."

Li Minghan chuckled, tapping his foot lightly on the Red Mountain Sub-Dragon’s head. In that instant, the Sub-dragon let out a roar, its body stretching out as it soared into the sky. Li Minghan, clad in white robes that billowed in the wind, stood upon the dragon’s head. His feet seemed rooted to the spot, completely unmoving. He wore a faint smile, the very picture of heroism and valor.

ROAR!!

The Red Mountain Sub-Dragon’s cry echoed through the clouds as its draconic form slithered through the air, speeding eastward at an incredible pace. Yu Changsheng lay on its back while Li Minghan stood on its head, transformed into a dragon-riding youth of peerless style.

’So stylish,’

Yu Changsheng muttered, casting an envious glance at Li Minghan, whose white robes whipped and snapped in the wind. He imagined himself riding his Red Refining Snake, slithering along the ground, and couldn’t help but shiver. He quickly shook his head and let out a breath.

’He’s a dragon-riding youth. What does that make me? A snake-riding hero?’

The Red Mountain Sub-Dragon was swift. Before long, it had left the vicinity of Si Jian Cliff and flown out of the sprawling stone forest. As they reached the edge, a faint white mist once again enveloped their surroundings...

WHOOSH...

The wind howled. After re-entering the white mist, the Red Mountain Sub-Dragon’s speed decreased considerably. Its draconic form weaved through the fog, its immense draconic might deterring any lesser creatures lurking within. The faint, yellowish-red Light Shield reappeared, warding off the fierce Gang Wind.

The Red Mountain Sub-Dragon continued its journey east. Its pace was no longer breakneck as white mist churned around them. Fog Beasts would occasionally emerge, only to be swiftly dispatched by Li Minghan, who collected their Fog Beast Origins.

They advanced in fits and starts, killing Fog Beasts while Li Minghan searched for any trace of Zhang Tianwen. In the blink of an eye, half a day had passed, and night fell once more upon the sky of the Secret Realm.

A faint blood moon reappeared in the heavens, and the surrounding white mist began to shift to a crimson hue. Li Minghan’s brow furrowed. He watched this transformation with vigilance, slowing their pace even further.

Under the light of the blood moon, the Fog Beasts within the Illusion Mist Beast Valley would enter a frenzied state, becoming far more threatening. This was no great secret. Fortunately, while the Fog Beasts grew more savage, their Realm remained unchanged.

Although they were more troublesome, with enough caution, it wouldn’t be a problem.

ROAR!!

Just as Li Minghan was quietly slowing their pace, a tiger’s roar, echoing in all directions and carrying an immense pressure, resounded through the clouds and reached his ears with perfect clarity.

"This is..." Li Minghan froze for a moment before his face lit up with joy. "The roar of a Divine Might Spirit Tiger! It must be Senior Brother Zhang."

Delighted, Li Minghan breathed a sigh of relief. A smile appeared on his face as he directed the Red Mountain Sub-Dragon toward the source of the sound. He turned his head, chuckling, to look at Yu Changsheng on the dragon’s back...

"Changsheng, Zhang—"

But his voice stopped abruptly mid-word.

Staring at the completely empty dragon’s back, Li Minghan was utterly dumbfounded.

"Where is he?!"

The dragon’s back was completely bare. There wasn’t a single soul in sight.

"Holy shit, no way! He was right here a moment ago! How did he just vanish in the blink of an eye without me noticing a thing?"

Stunned, Li Minghan couldn’t help but curse as he frantically scanned their surroundings. The Red Mountain Sub-Dragon was equally anxious, its roars echoing out and stirring the blood-red mist in all directions.

But no matter how Li Minghan searched or how much he stirred the crimson mist, there was not the slightest trace of Yu Changsheng. It was as if he had silently vanished from the world.

’I’m screwed...’

His face drained of all color, Li Minghan collapsed onto the dragon’s back.

The commotion here had attracted the attention of others. A moment later, a long, rainbow-like streak of light shot across the sky before slowly dissipating, revealing the figure of Zhang Tianwen.

"Li Minghan? It’s you."

Zhang Tianwen looked surprised. He lowered his guard and revealed a smile.

"Senior Brother Zhang..."

Li Minghan looked up at Zhang Tianwen with a mournful expression.

"Hm?" Zhang Tianwen raised an eyebrow, a hint of displeasure in his frown. "Why the long face? What happened?"

Looking aggrieved, Li Minghan blinked his eyes. "I... I lost Changsheng..."

"What?!"

...

「Elsewhere」 After a dizzying spell amidst brilliant starlight, Yu Changsheng shook his head, suppressed the vertigo, and groggily opened his eyes.

Before him lay a vast, empty space. Clouds and mist drifted below his feet. He looked up to see a sky dotted with countless stars. The surrounding starlight was dazzling, flowing silently through the air like liquid mercury. It was utterly peaceful, a scene of such extreme beauty that one’s heart couldn’t help but grow tranquil.

But he had no time to admire the beautiful scenery. Yu Changsheng frowned, completely bewildered.

’Wasn’t I on the dragon’s back? What’s going on?’

Just a moment ago, at the instant the blood moon rose high in the sky and the white mist began turning red, the Void had twisted. An invisible ripple had spread through everything. Yu Changsheng hadn’t perceived it at all; he had only felt the world spin, and then he was here.

He took a deep breath...

After carefully observing his surroundings, Yu Changsheng gasped. This place... it was so familiar. Wasn’t this the same unknown land he had stumbled into before?

"We meet again. You carry his aura."

The voice rang out like a great temple bell, reverberating through this pocket of heaven and earth and sending out layer after layer of ripples.

The voice was ancient and deep, its cadence strange. It transformed into a terrifying tidal wave that crashed against Yu Changsheng’s mind, like countless Thunderbolts exploding right next to his ears.

BZZZZZ...

From that single sound alone, Yu Changsheng’s ears began to ring, and blood trickled from his nose and ears. The injuries he had just barely managed to stabilize threatened to worsen once more.

PFFT—

A mouthful of blood sprayed into the Void. Yu Changsheng gasped for breath, struggling to turn his head. Before him, the Void twisted, and layers of clouds parted to finally reveal a colossal beast.

The beast was as large as a mountain range; Yu Changsheng was no more than an ant in its presence. The turtle shell on its back seemed vast enough to prop up the heavens, and a giant snake was coiled upon it, the two intertwined as one.

The mere wisp of an aura it exuded caused the Void to roar and crack. Countless Laws manifested as Lock Chains, extending from an infinite distance to bind the great beast’s limbs. Furthermore, endless Thunderbolts rained down, continuously bombarding its colossal body.

Thick Death Qi radiated from its body, and an infinite pressure crashed down upon Yu Changsheng. The beast’s every breath unleashed a boundless storm that swept toward him.

This was the being that had spoken in a human tongue. A flash of clarity flickered in its murky eyes as it gazed at Yu Changsheng, its stare seemingly able to penetrate one’s heart, laying all secrets bare.

"Senior..."

Yu Changsheng was forced to his stomach, the bones throughout his body creaking and groaning under the pressure. Gritting his teeth, he barely managed to lift his head, his face a mask of bitterness, his eyes bloodshot.

He was already heavily injured and far from healed. In this moment, faced with such a presence, Yu Changsheng had no power to resist whatsoever.

"That is enough! You know he is not the one."

Just as Yu Changsheng was on the verge of collapse, his body feeling as if it might explode and his mind a complete blur, the Void rippled like the surface of water. A figure slowly emerged. With a wave of his hand, a gentle force materialized to shield Yu Changsheng, nullifying the immense pressure.

"Master..."

Yu Changsheng’s eyelids fluttered open just a crack, and he gazed at the newcomer, muttering under his breath.

"Sigh... Child, you have suffered,"

Elder Wei sighed softly. A kind smile graced his aged features, and his gaze was gentle. He gently lifted Yu Changsheng as a white light flickered in his palm, transforming into warm currents that poured into Yu Changsheng’s body.

COUGH, COUGH, COUGH...

Yu Changsheng coughed a few times as all the injuries on his body began to recover at an astonishing speed. Before long, he was almost as good as new. Even some of the hidden injuries left over from his battle with Yang Chengxu were completely erased by Elder Wei’s healing.

"Wei Zhenggui, you have finally appeared," the great beast’s voice boomed. "He is indeed your disciple."
