Chapter 320: Chapter 268: He Is Your Eldest Senior Brother

The void hummed. Upon Elder Wei’s arrival, the colossal beast seemed to grow even more agitated. The moment its enormous body stirred, Thunderbolts erupted, Laws manifested, and countless Lock Chains swayed in response.

Even more startling ripples of power burst from its body, wave after wave. A sharp glint, tinged with resentment, shot out from its murky eyes.

Before it, the figures of Yu Changsheng and Elder Wei were utterly insignificant, like a lone boat on a vast ocean, swaying precariously and in danger of capsizing at any moment.

Elder Wei’s expression was serene. His hair and beard fluttered about, revealing a ruddy complexion as he took a light step forward.

In that instant, his figure seemed to swell into a mountain range, shielding Yu Changsheng. The cataclysmic pressure parted around him, and he stood like an immovable boulder, utterly unshaken by the force.

"Old friend, we meet again. If you wanted to see me, you only had to say the word. Why trouble a child?"

Elder Wei spoke softly, his hands clasped behind his back. His eyes held a look of nostalgia, without a trace of anger.

His voice was as gentle as water, rippling outward as if imbued with a special Magic Power that could soothe all emotion. Upon hearing it, Yu Changsheng’s anxiety vanished and he felt at ease. The giant turtle, too, suddenly grew calm.

"This has nothing to do with that. He carries *his* aura. What? Is this another disciple of yours? What is the connection between them?"

After a long moment, the giant turtle’s massive body crashed to the ground, kicking up a boundless shockwave of air. It spoke again, its voice slow and deliberate.

"But you know he is not Cao Jinxian. The two of them have no connection. The aura you sense is merely a coincidence. Changsheng just happened to acquire that fellow’s Jade Pendant."

A smile touched Elder Wei’s lips. He first nodded, then shook his head, and beckoned to Yu Changsheng. "Take out the Wen Longyu you’re carrying," he said.

Yu Changsheng paused, dazed. The conversation left him puzzled, but bits of information were flashing through his mind like lightning. After a few theories formed in his head, he nodded and took the Wen Longyu from his Storage Pouch.

It was the very same Jade Pendant Yu Changsheng had acquired at the Ten Thousand Beasts Tower auction. Zhang Tianwen had later told him that it once belonged to Cao Jinxian of Beast Taming Peak.

Putting two and two together with the current situation, Yu Changsheng would have to be a fool not to understand what was going on.

’The Illusion Mist Beast Valley is intrinsically linked to the Cloud Mist Mountain Range. And beneath the sprawling mountain range lies the Ancestral Vein of the Wanxiang Sect. There, using the Earth Same Life Array, a descendant of the Black Tortoise is Sealed... the Profound Yin Illusion Turtle.’

’The roar I heard during the Cloud Mist Trial last time... it must have come from this giant beast. That explains the faint sense of familiarity...’

The pieces of information clicked together in his mind. A sudden realization dawned on Yu Changsheng. Now, everything was clear.

The identity of the giant beast before him was now obvious.

In fact, the moment he saw Si Jian Cliff, Yu Changsheng had already begun to suspect.

After all, for a Secret Realm belonging to Beast Taming Peak to contain traces left by a Sword Cultivator was strange in itself. Considering the history of Beast Taming Peak, it wasn’t difficult to make the connection to the once-brilliant Cao Jinxian, who simultaneously cultivated both the Sword Dao and the Beast Taming Dao.

As these thoughts settled, Yu Changsheng’s expression grew complex. He held out the Wen Longyu and stepped aside to watch quietly.

’And Elder Wei’s true identity is the patriarch of Beast Taming Peak, Wei Zhenggui?’

Yu Changsheng barely had time to be shocked by this revelation. He figured Elder Wei must have his reasons. From what he knew, the elder and this Profound Yin Illusion Turtle shared some sort of tangled fate.

...

"You see? The aura you sensed comes merely from this Jade Pendant."

Elder Wei shook his head with a smile. With a wave of his hand, he drew the Wen Longyu through the air. He let it hover before the Profound Turtle for a moment before returning it to Yu Changsheng.

The Profound Turtle fell silent. Its mountain-like body swayed slightly, allowing the Law Lock Chains to whip against its form without resistance.

After a long pause, the Profound Turtle finally spoke, its voice like thunder.

"Then how do you explain the aura of the Ten Thousand Spirits Technique on him? He is also cultivating that person’s Cultivation Technique, isn’t he?"

"Correct." Elder Wei fell silent for a moment, then looked up to meet the Profound Turtle’s gaze and nodded. "I was the one who gave him the Cultivation Technique. His Physique is perfectly suited for it. Beyond that, he has no other connection to Cao Jinxian. They have never met."

"The Ten Thousand Spirits Technique was created by Cao Jinxian, but your Physique is exceptionally suited for its Cultivation." Seeing the confused look on Yu Changsheng’s face, Elder Wei turned to explain.

Yu Changsheng let out a breath. He was stunned speechless, but though he still had questions, he didn’t say anything more.

"Heh," the Profound Turtle sneered. "Aren’t you afraid of raising another ungrateful wretch? That grand disciple of yours, Cao Jinxian, is a perfect cautionary tale."

As the words landed, Yu Changsheng glanced at Elder Wei, a flicker of shock on his face that he quickly suppressed. He mulled it over, and the last of his questions evaporated.

’So Cao Jinxian was Elder Wei’s disciple. The Elder had never mentioned it, but it all made perfect sense. It also explained how Elder Wei came to possess the Ten Thousand Spirits Technique.’

"An ungrateful wretch?" Hearing this, Elder Wei simply shook his head and smiled. He looked at the Profound Turtle, his expression as if he were chatting with an old friend after a long separation. He was in no hurry, and his smile was brilliant.

"So, old friend, you feel fear as well."

"Afraid?" the Profound Turtle snorted. A blast of air shot from its nostrils, coalescing into a raging tempest. "What is there to fear? I merely pity you. This was just a well-intentioned reminder, nothing more."
