Aldes walked down the rows of gray stone stairs. The rather dark, long hallway led straight to the palace's underground floor. Every time they passed armored guards or rows of palace servants, those people immediately stopped walking. They bowed deeply to pay their respects until Aldes's group passed.

Wait. This path leads to the library. His Majesty wants to meet me in the library?

"His Majesty wants to meet us in the library?" asked Aldes, breaking the silence of the hallway.

"What do you think." Klaus asked back without stopping his steps. His eyes kept staring straight ahead.

"Are we going to war?" Aldes asked again.

Klaus tilted his head slightly and sneered softly. "Are you expecting it."

Aldes stared at the captain's broad back. "You look annoyed. Have you not eaten?"

"You need a woman's hug to calm down Klaus," mocked Aldes with a flat tone.

Klaus's steps stopped. He turned his body, staring at Aldes with a stiff face. "I have not eaten. And I can get a hug from any woman I want."

Illfa turned to Aldes then looked at Klaus. "Did we cause trouble, Captain?"

"No," answered Klaus. "You two will be given a mission related to the news that has been circulating."

Klaus turned his head slightly, looking at Illfa and Aldes's faces alternately. "I am sure you already know."

"I do not know," answered Illfa quickly.

"Circulating news?" asked Aldes, confused.

Klaus closed his eyes for a moment. He looked back. "You must be jok"

Klaus cut off his own words. He lowered his face and muttered very quietly. "Of course you do not know. You were busy training."

"What. Are you cursing something. What did you say?" asked Aldes, narrowing his eyes.

Klaus raised his head again. "No. It is nothing."

Klaus let out a long sigh, then turned his body to continue walking. "This morning His Majesty sent an announcement letter to the entire city. We are forging a military alliance with the Dragon Kingdom."

"Even though some citizens are protesting. And I also do not understand what is actually happening. But that is the decision." Klaus's voice echoed softly in the hallway. "Some other citizens also seem to not have a problem with it."

Illfa nodded slowly, digesting the information. "Ah that. I. Hmmm. I just found out."

Illfa's eyes widened. She pointed at Klaus's back. "Wait. Captain, why did you not tell me during the meeting this morning."

"I was in a hurry. So." Klaus turned his face away, staring at the hallway wall. "I forgot."

"And your mission will be related to that," added Klaus.

Klaus stopped walking again. He realized the sound of footsteps behind him decreased by one. He looked back and saw Aldes had stopped walking.

"What is wrong with you."

Illfa also turned around. She looked at her partner's face. "Hey. You look scared. Are you okay?"

Aldes stood frozen. His face turned pale. The fingers on both his hands trembled slightly. He stared at Klaus and Illfa alternately with a confused expression.

"You are joking."

Villavia managed to make Tominus cooperate? What does this  fucking mean??.. I thought he was cooperating with that Viena envoy. What does it mean to cooperate.?

Aldes felt his heartbeat pumping blood faster.

Wait. Is all this according to his narrative? Or. Wait. What is this?! What is his chess move?.  What mission is related to that?

Sst.

A sharp humming sound cut through the air around them. The air pressure in the hallway dropped drastically all of a sudden. The sight of the brick walls in front of Aldes's eyes shifted and disappeared instantly.

Aldes, Illfa, and Klaus were no longer in the palace's underground hallway.

They stood in an incredibly bright, boundless giant room. The room had a purely clean white geometric aesthetic resembling a dimensional labyrinth. The walls, pillars, and ceiling were composed of grand white box structures without the slightest shadow or dust. The floor reflected white light like a solid mirror glass. The air in this place felt very cold and sterile.

At the bottom, on the expanse of the white floor, several Guardians wearing all-purple uniforms and black back cloaks stood straight, neatly lined up in silence. One of the women in the line noticed Aldes's presence.

The woman had back-length purple hair. Her body shape was slim and feminine. The curve of her waist was clearly visible, distinguishing her posture from thick-muscled physical fighters behind the tight uniform. She was Leafa.

"Oh my.."

"Aldes!" greeted Leafa with a clear voice. A bright smile bloomed on her face as she slightly raised her right hand.

"You seem to know him, Leafa," said a male Guardian next to her. The man covered his face with a plain black mask. There was a single bright blue dot emitting light in the middle of the mask.

"Of course. He is my beloved student," answered Leafa. She leaned her body forward with a proud expression.

"Ohoh, he is quite handsome now," chimed in a woman with straight black hair and a pair of sharp blue eyes near them.

Several other Guardians remained silent like statues. Their gazes were locked forward without giving any response.

"What."

"Leafa?" muttered Aldes softly.

Far ahead at the end of the white floor steps, Tominus sat leaning calmly on a black chair standing alone resembling a throne.

"What took you so long," said Tominus. His deep voice echoed waves of vibrations throughout the white room.

Aldes's pupils shrank to the size of a dot. Beads of cold sweat came out wetting his forehead. He stared intently at the man standing right beside Tominus's chair.

The man was Villavia.

Beside Villavia stood a woman dressed in eastern-style white cloth. The woman had long pink hair and a pair of dragon horns on her head. Her pink eyes stared straight at Aldes with a very cold look.
