What kind of division is this, Aldes muttered to himself.

He chewed the remaining meat in his mouth until it was mashed and swallowed it. Aldes cleared his throat softly. "Alright."

Aldes picked up the glass in front of him and drank the cold water. The chilling sensation flowed down, wetting his throat. He placed the glass back on the table and looked at his three comrades alternately. "I want to hear your stories."

"Um." Aldes pointed around. "About your missions or your experiences."

"You know, like your missions or your assassinations. Or moments when you almost died, that works too."

Mila smiled faintly. "Oh." She leaned forward, looking into Aldes's eyes. "Maybe that would be an interesting opening for us, Princey-prince."

Mila pulled her back away and leaned against her wooden chair again. She sighed through her nose. "Where should I begin."

"Someone who ate their own friend to level up." Mila tapped the tip of her index finger against her cheek. "A woman who sacrificed her husband so she could live, and then was killed by me."

Mila's eyes widened suddenly. "Ha."

"My mission exploring a level 80 dungeon." Mila snapped her fingers, producing a loud snap. "Right. Right."

Leafa nodded her head slowly. "Ah, maybe."

"I was surprised when you were the only one who managed to survive that time," Leafa continued. "That's also what got you promoted to Division 0, if I'm not mistaken."

Amor stopped the movement of his hand in the air. He turned his neck to look at Mila.

"Amor? You?" Mila asked, returning the horned man's gaze.

"At that time, your level was far below the entry standard. I'm curious," Amor said. He picked up a piece of fruit from a small plate nearby and ate it with a flat expression. "That place almost killed me back then."

Good, this will be useful to find out what a dungeon means in this world, Aldes muttered inwardly.

He sat up straighter and sharpened his hearing.

Mila tilted her head up to look at the ceiling of the room. The smile on her face slowly disappeared. She closed her eyelids. "The most horrifying thing in that place was the curse at the exit."

"Curse?" Aldes interrupted. "What was the place like? What kind of curse?"

Mila lowered her face and opened her eyes. She twirled the glass in her hand slowly. "The place was beautiful."

"The sky was like a cosmic nebula of blue and pink, filled with many glowing stars. The ground beneath us was pure white sand. There were tall mountains in the distance with purple trees. Transparent whales flew in the air."

"We were a party of seven at the time. By the time we reached that area, only me, Jal, and Vama were left."

"We thought the worst trial was over. The area was safe."

"We could finally breathe easy."

Mila narrowed her eyes. Her fingertips gripped the surface of the glass tighter. "I remember."

"I breathed a sigh of relief at that moment."

"Vama cried because his suffering was over."

"Jal smiled in satisfaction."

"Then." Mila turned toward the remaining roasted meat on Aldes's plate. "Vama accidentally took a step backward."

"His eyeballs burst."

"He took another step back."

"His stomach was slashed open. He took another step backward, and his whole body crumbled."

"The moment I realized the curse of that place was walking backward, I immediately locked Jal's shadow with my magic so he wouldn't move."

"I screamed about the curse. Then I noticed another strange thing."

"Vama's regeneration wasn't working."

"He was truly dead."

"Right at that moment, in front of us." Mila's voice dropped. "The boss appeared."

"The creature looked like a human. Its skin was pale white, it was bald, and had glowing red eyes."

"It smiled at us."

Mila stretched her shoulder muscles and rolled her neck slowly until a cracking sound could be heard. "In the end, we defeated that monster and got out of that place."

"When I woke up, I was in a snowy plain. Probably the Rituk area. And I felt something strange in my hand."

"There I realized, I was holding Jal's head."

Silence instantly enveloped the dining table. The sound of scraping cutlery completely vanished. The air in the room felt heavy.

Illfa stared straight at her plate without blinking. Her mouth hung slightly open.

Amor went back to sweeping his brush across the canvas. The scraping sound of the brush bristles could be heard clearly. "I wasn't as bad off as you when I got out."

"Oh yeah, what about you?" Mila asked, turning to the corner of the room.

Amor narrowed his eyes, looking at the ocean blue on the canvas. "When I got out, I was holding the head of that dungeon boss. And I didn't experience the same suffering because I went to that place alone."

"Whoa, you really are something else." Mila shook her head.

"I will refuse any mission related to that place," Illfa said with trembling lips. She hugged her own arms and rubbed her tense shoulders. "Damn it, I have to slow down my leveling."

"It's too late, you're already too high." Mila reached out and pinched Illfa's right cheek hard.

"No, I'm not." Illfa struggled a little and tried to swat Mila's hand away from her face.

Leafa slowly turned to look at Aldes. She studied the contours of the man's face carefully. "You don't seem very surprised, Aldes."

What the actual fuck was that, Aldes thought.

Why is she telling this like it's a normal thing for her? Aldes muttered to himself.

He felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand up beneath his uniform collar.

That was just a snippet of it. I can't even imagine what the reality was like.

Aldes turned to look at Leafa with a mix of confusion and horror. He met Leafa's gaze.

"Yeah."

"I... don't know what kind of reaction you were expecting," Aldes replied flatly.

Mila let go of her pinch on Illfa's cheek. The woman immediately pointed straight at Amor's back. "Alright, alright, now it's your turn. Your turn, Amor. You."
