Location: Liebus Agency
Place: Anaya City
Fiona stood quietly before the old wooden house hidden deep within the headquarters.
Seven hundred years had passed since the little house was built, yet time had never been allowed to touch it.. Every wooden plank, every handmade window, and stone surrounding the small cottage had been preserved exactly as they had been on the day Anaya had lived there. Sara had personally ensured that nothing inside this house would ever change.
No one was allowed to enter.
Not the captains.
Not the commanders.
Not even the agency’s highest-ranking officers.
Only two people possessed the privilege to step inside whenever necessary.
The Holy Saint...
And Fiona.
Fiona slowly reached for the old wooden handle.
For reasons she could never explain, every time she touched this door, she felt an overwhelming sadness lingering within the wood itself. It was almost as though the little house still remembered the laughter of the child who had once called it home.
Today, however...
She couldn’t allow herself to dwell on those feelings.
Erza’s arrival had changed everything.
If humanity truly wished to end the age of demons, Sara needed to know immediately.
Taking a slow breath, Fiona gently pushed the door open.
The old hinges creaked softly.
The familiar sound echoed through the quiet house before silence embraced the room once again.
Fiona stepped inside.
Unlike the cold steel corridors outside, the little house felt strangely warm. The scent of burning firewood drifted gently through the air, carrying with it an atmosphere that made the small home feel alive, as though someone had been living there all along.
Her eyes slowly moved toward the center of the room.
Sara was there.
She sat quietly before the old fireplace, watching the flames dance above the burning logs.
The fireplace...
It was the same one where Anaya had once warmed herself during the freezing winter nights.
The same place where the frightened little girl had sat trembling while leaning against Sara, trusting her completely despite being terrified of the fire before her.
Now...
Only Sara remained.
She sat alone before those same flames, her posture calm yet filled with a loneliness that words could never describe. The firelight danced across her violet hair, painting her lonely figure in shades of amber and gold as she silently watched the burning wood, never once looking away.
Fiona quietly lowered her head.
Fiona knew she shouldn’t be here.
Sara had given only one order regarding this house: never disturb her while she was inside Anaya’s home unless the matter concerned the Demon King himself. Fiona had obeyed that command for years without exception. She understood that this small wooden hut wasn’t merely a room inside the agency. It was the only place where Sara allowed herself to remember the little sister she had failed to save.
But today...
Everything was different.
Erza wasn’t simply another powerful being.
She had been classified as a Humanity-Level Threat, a presence capable of changing the fate of the world itself. To Fiona, that placed Erza on the same level of urgency as the Demon King. If there was ever a reason to interrupt Sara’s solitude...
This was it.
Fiona slowly lowered her head.
"Chief..."
"This is Captain Phoenix."
"I have an urgent report."
Her voice remained respectful, almost afraid to disturb the silence surrounding the small house.
No answer came.
Sara remained seated before the fireplace, her crimson eyes fixed upon the burning wood. The flames continued dancing quietly before her, their soft crackling becoming the only sound inside the room.
Fiona waited patiently.
Several seconds passed before she gathered the courage to speak again.
"Chief..."
"I’m sorry for interrupting you."
"But this report cannot wait."
Still...
Sara gave no response.
She didn’t even acknowledge Fiona’s presence.
Her eyes remained locked onto the fire as though she were watching something hidden deep inside the flames rather than the burning logs themselves. Every flicker of orange light reflected within her pupils, carrying memories only she could see.
Fiona slowly lifted her head, intending to call Sara one final time.
The words caught inside her throat.
Her eyes widened.
A single tear slowly escaped from Sara’s eye.
It traced a silent path down her pale cheek before falling gently onto the wooden floor.
Fiona stood frozen.
For a brief moment, she couldn’t believe what she had witnessed.
The woman sitting before her was Sara.
The legendary founder of the Liebus Agency.
The vampire feared even by the Demon King.
The woman whose heart had always appeared colder than winter itself.
Yet...
She was crying.
Silently.
As though even her tears had learned not to make a sound.
Without thinking, Fiona instinctively took a step forward.
"Chief!"
Her voice became noticeably louder.
The sudden call finally broke Sara from her thoughts.
She blinked once before slowly turning her head toward Fiona. Realizing the tear upon her face, she quietly wiped it away with the back of her hand, her expression returning to its usual calmness as though nothing had happened.
"Oh..."
A faint look of surprise crossed her face.
"Fiona."
She paused briefly before correcting herself.
"...Captain Phoenix."
Before Sara could continue speaking, Fiona immediately asked,
"Chief..."
"Are you alright?"
Sara looked at her quietly before giving a small nod.
"I’m fine."
Her answer was calm.
Too calm.
Then Sara’s eyes narrowed ever so slightly.
She knew Fiona better than anyone.
Captain Phoenix would never interrupt her time inside Anaya’s house without an extremely important reason. If Fiona had chosen to break that rule today...
Then something serious had happened.
Sara slowly straightened her posture.
The warmth and sorrow lingering in her eyes quietly disappeared, replaced once again by the cold composure of humanity’s commander.
"Tell me."
"Why is Captain Phoenix here?"
"And why did you choose to disturb me?"
Fiona immediately bowed once more.
"Chief..."
"I’m here to report an urgent matter."
Sara quietly studied Fiona for several long seconds. the fire continued crackling between them, its warm light dancing across the wooden walls of Anaya’s house.
"What is it?" Sara finally asked, her voice calm.
She tilted her head slightly before adding,
"Is this about the Demon King?"
Her crimson eyes remained fixed on Fiona.
"Or..."
"Have our spies finally found the Demon King’s castle?"
Fiona slowly shook her head.
"No, Chief."
"It isn’t related to the Demon King."
Sara’s expression barely changed, but Fiona noticed the slight narrowing of her eyes.
That answer wasn’t what Sara had expected.
"If it isn’t about the Demon King," Sara said quietly, "then why did you choose to disturb me here?"
Her voice wasn’t angry.
It was simply questioning.
Fiona lowered her head respectfully.
"I know I broke your order, Chief."
"I also know you told me never to interrupt you while you were inside Lady Anaya’s house."
She paused for a brief moment before continuing.
"But..."
"I truly believe this matter deserves your attention."
Silence returned.
Sara continued watching Fiona without saying a word.
The fire crackled softly between them while shadows danced across the old wooden walls.
Finally...
Sara sighed.
"Very well."
"Tell me."
Fiona took a slow breath before speaking.
"Chief... do you remember when I told you I would bring the woman responsible for the Port Incident before you?"
Sara gave a small nod without hesitation.
"Yes."
"I remember."
She looked directly at Fiona, and for the first time since entering Anaya’s house, the coldness in her eyes had softened ever so slightly.
"What about her?"
Fiona noticed the subtle change immediately.
The Chief was curious.
It wasn’t much, but it was enough.
For years, Fiona had rarely seen Sara show interest in anything unrelated to demons or humanity’s survival. Seeing that curiosity appear gave her hope. She thought this was the opportunity she had been waiting for.
If she simply explained everything, if she told Sara that she had brought Erza here, then perhaps the two strongest women in the world could stand together. Perhaps, with Erza’s help, the endless war against demons could finally come to an end.
Peace...
It suddenly felt closer than ever before.
Fiona slowly opened her mouth, ready to reveal everything.
Before a single word could leave her lips...
The entire world changed.
An overwhelming aura erupted across the Liebus Agency.
The old wooden house trembled violently as though struck by an earthquake. The fireplace roared, scattering glowing embers across the room, while every piece of furniture shook beneath an invisible pressure. The very air became impossibly heavy, making it difficult to breathe.
Fiona’s body instantly froze.
Her heart skipped a beat as an indescribable pressure crushed against her soul. For one terrifying moment, it felt as though countless Demon Kings had descended upon the headquarters at once.
No...
That comparison wasn’t enough.
This presence was far beyond anything she had ever experienced.
It felt less like facing an enemy...
And more like standing before a god.
Cold sweat rolled down Fiona’s forehead.
Her breathing became uneven as recognition slowly dawned upon her.
"...IT’S Her."
She knew that aura.
She would never mistake it.
Fiona instinctively turned toward Sara, intending to explain the sudden appearance of the terrifying aura.
She paused.
Her lips parted, but no words came out.
The moment she saw the Chief’s face...
She froze.
Fiona had never seen Sara’s pupils shrink like that.
The color drained from her face.
Her breathing stopped.
Her hands trembled.
Sara...
Was afraid.
Fear slowly spread across the legendary vampire’s face, not the fear of battle, but the instinctive terror of encountering something that should never have existed. Her body had become rigid, her crimson eyes fixed toward the source of the aura while her hands trembled almost imperceptibly.
Fiona’s mind went blank.
She had fought beside Sara for years.
She had watched her stand before Upper Demons without flinching.
She had even seen her confront the Demon King himself with unwavering confidence.
Never...
Not once...
Had she ever seen Sara afraid.
Sara unconsciously took a small step backward.
Her lips trembled as though refusing to accept what her instincts were telling her.
"No..."
"It can’t be..."
"No..."
"That’s impossible..."
Her breathing became shallow.
Then, in a voice Fiona had never heard before, Sara whispered,
Sara’s lips parted.
The words barely escaped.
"...A Superior Being..."
She swallowed.
"...is here."
Fiona stood frozen.
Superior Being?
The words echoed inside her mind, but before she could ask what they meant, Sara suddenly disappeared.
Without another word, the vampire queen dashed out of Anaya’s house with terrifying speed, leaving Fiona standing alone before the still-burning fireplace.
For several seconds, Fiona couldn’t move.
She simply stared at the open doorway, trying to understand what had just happened.
Questions flooded her mind one after another.
Did that monster lose control?
Did something force her to release her full aura?
Or... had she decided to fight the entire agency?
Fiona didn’t know.
But one thing had become painfully clear.
If Sara and Erza truly clashed...
The battle would become a disaster beyond anything humanity had ever witnessed.
There wasn’t a single thing Captain Phoenix could do now except chase after them...
And pray she wasn’t already too late.
