Location:- Libeus Agency
Place:- Interrogation Room
Sara’s eyes widened the moment the name Nefarion echoed through the interrogation room.
She had heard fragments of that name before, scattered throughout ancient records and incomplete reports concerning the Demonic World, but she had never truly understood what it represented.
Her knowledge of demons had always been built around their bloodlines, ranks, and the strict hierarchy governing their world.
Lower demons obeyed those above them, powerful demons controlled territories, and every rank existed beneath something greater.
The Nefarions, however, had always been the strange exception.
From the little Sara knew, they didn’t seem to follow the traditional hierarchy of the Demonic World. Their behavior, their loyalties, and even the way they operated were completely different from ordinary demons.
Information about them was frustratingly scarce, and for centuries on nova... Sara had simply assumed they were another unusual demonic bloodline hidden somewhere within the greater structure of demonkind.
She had never possessed enough information to understand what made them truly different.
Until now.
Sara’s fingers slowly tightened into a fist as memories from seven hundred years ago resurfaced within her mind.
Back then, she had believed the creatures she fought belonged to the highest levels of the normal demonic hierarchy.
She had called them Demon Lords and Arch Demons because those were the only classifications available to her. Yet no matter how many records she studied or how much knowledge she gathered afterward, something about those enemies had never properly matched what she knew about either rank.
Now she finally understood why.
They weren’t Arch Demons.
Sara remained completely silent as the realization settled heavily inside her.
They weren’t Demon Lords either.
They were Nefarions.
For seven hundred years, she had misunderstood the very enemy she had once fought.
Sara wanted answers immediately, but she forced herself to remain composed and quietly looked toward Erza instead.
She still knew almost nothing about the Nefarions themselves, and pretending otherwise would accomplish nothing. What concerned her far more was the reaction of the Dragon Queen standing beside her. Erza wasn’t alarmed by the name, nor did she appear cautious.
She looked excited.
That alone told Sara enough.
Whatever the Nefarions truly were, they were significant enough to capture the genuine interest of a Dragon Queen.
Erza’s violet eyes remained fixed upon the Salesman Demon as an unusual excitement gradually appeared within them.
The name had awakened memories she hadn’t expected to revisit anytime soon.
It had been decades since she had properly encountered one of those creatures, and the possibility that Nefarions were operating on this insignificant little planet made the situation far more interesting than she had originally expected.
Nefarions...
Erza’s smile slowly widened.
After all these decades, I finally encounter those monsters again.
The thought of facing them once more awakened something inside her that Earth had failed to provide since her arrival.
Erza had spent most of her time restraining herself, constantly reminding herself how fragile everything around her was. Even the strongest beings she had encountered here couldn’t survive a fraction of what she considered a proper battle.
But Nefarions were different.
Before Erza could lose herself further in those thoughts, the Salesman Demon’s voice interrupted the silence.
The demon was frightened.
There was no hiding that anymore. His instincts had already warned him that the silver-haired woman standing before him was unlike anything he had expected to encounter inside the agency. Nevertheless, he desperately maintained his composure, forcing a laugh from his throat while keeping the same unnatural smile stretched across his face.
"Heh... now I understand."
His laugh sounded forced even to himself, but he continued pretending otherwise.
"Now I understand why the Demon King warned me never to underestimate this place."
His black eyes moved first toward Sara before settling upon Erza.
The warning he had received before coming here had seemed ridiculous at the time. Humanity was weak, its greatest warriors barely capable of challenging the upper ranks of demonkind.
Even after Raven captured him, he had remained confident that his regeneration would eventually provide an opportunity to escape.
Now he wasn’t so certain.
Sara immediately noticed the direction of his attention.
The last thing she wanted was for this demon to provoke Erza further, especially after witnessing what a moment of irritation from the Dragon Queen had done to the training facility.
If Erza lost interest in questioning him and simply killed him, they could lose whatever information he possessed about the kidnapped children and the ritual.
"My Queen," Sara spoke carefully from behind Erza, maintaining the respectful posture she had adopted since leaving the training facility.
"If our true enemy is connected to these Nefarions you mentioned, then perhaps our priority should be preparing for them. Meanwhile, our interrogation division can continue extracting whatever information this creature possesses. Even if he refuses to speak willingly, there are other methods available to us."
Erza didn’t immediately answer.
The Salesman Demon did.
"Extract information from my body?"
A mocking laugh escaped him as he leaned against his restraints. Some of his earlier confidence returned now that the conversation had shifted toward torture, a subject he clearly didn’t consider threatening.
"Did you learn nothing from yesterday?"
He slightly moved one of his restrained arms, causing the holy chains surrounding it to tighten.
"Your weapons broke my flesh. Your precious holy chains burned through my skin. You people tried everything you had, and every wound simply healed."
His smile became wider.
"Pain is rather useless against someone like me."
Sara’s expression darkened, but the demon continued before she could respond. He had endured the agency’s interrogation methods already, and that experience had given him enough confidence to believe there was at least one advantage he still possessed inside this room.
"You can cut me, burn me, break every bone you find and start again when they heal. It makes no difference."
The Salesman Demon slowly turned his completely black eyes toward Erza.
"So unfortunately for you..."
His smile returned.
"...torture doesn’t work on me."
Erza stared at him for several seconds.
Then she smiled.
Not the pleased smile Sara had seen when the Shadow Unit submitted to her, nor the amused expression Erza wore when someone entertained her. This smile was colder, carrying enough quiet menace that Sara immediately felt something unpleasant crawl along her spine.
"Oh... really?"
Erza slowly stepped toward the restrained demon, her violet eyes never leaving his face.
The Salesman Demon’s smile stiffened.
Erza stopped directly before him.
"Are you challenging me..."
Her smile widened slightly.
"...you pitiful little demon?"
The Salesman Demon remained silent for several seconds.
He knew Erza’s confidence wasn’t empty arrogance. He had already witnessed enough of her strength to understand that the woman standing before him existed on a completely different level. Even so, fear alone wasn’t enough to destroy his confidence.
His body had consumed demonic blood and evolved repeatedly, granting him regenerative abilities far beyond ordinary demons. No matter how powerful this monster was, killing him through simple physical torture wouldn’t be easy.
Eventually, he forced himself to meet Erza’s eyes.
"You can try if you want."
Erza’s expression immediately became colder.
"You misunderstand something," she replied. "Who told you I needed to torture your body to extract the truth?"
The Salesman Demon’s smile slowly faded as he stared at her, unable to understand what she meant. Erza seemed even more amused by his confusion.
She had no interest in wasting hours cutting apart some insignificant demon and waiting for him to surrender information voluntarily.
"I don’t need you to speak."
Erza slowly raised her hand.
"I don’t need to break your bones, tear apart your flesh, or wait until pain destroys your loyalty."
Her violet eyes narrowed.
"I can take the truth from you without harming your body at all."
Sara’s eyes widened.
Behind her, Fiona and the elite agents guarding the interrogation room exchanged stunned looks. To Erza, those words might have sounded completely ordinary, but to the agency they were almost impossible to believe.
Extracting information from demons had remained one of their greatest difficulties throughout the war.
Demons could endure horrifying amounts of pain without revealing anything useful. Their regenerative abilities made conventional torture even less effective, while their fanatical loyalty meant many would rather die than betray those above them.
Against certain Lower Blood Demons, the agency sometimes required holy specialists capable of using sacred scripture and spiritual techniques merely to force a few truthful answers from them. Even then, success was never guaranteed.
For everyone else, interrogation became a brutal contest of endurance.
Sometimes the agency spent days torturing a captured demon only to receive a handful of useful sentences before the prisoner died.
Yet Erza was claiming she could simply bypass all of that.
Without torture.
Without cooperation.
Without even requiring the demon to open his mouth.
The Salesman Demon understood the implication at the same moment.
His confidence finally cracked.
"Don’t lie to me."
He instinctively pulled against the holy chains restraining his body.
"That’s impossible. You can’t extract something from my mind without me allowing it. No one can simply..."
Erza’s violet eyes sharpened.
"Queens do not lie."
The Salesman Demon immediately stopped speaking.
Erza took another step toward him, disgust visible within her expression as she looked down upon the creature.
"Especially not to something as insignificant as you."
She placed her palm directly against the top of his head.
Fear immediately flashed through the Salesman Demon’s black eyes. Until this moment, he had maintained his confidence because he believed his regeneration protected him from whatever interrogation method humanity attempted. Now, for the first time, Erza was threatening something his healing ability couldn’t protect.
"W-Wait."
The holy chains rattled as he instinctively struggled.
"Whatever you’re trying won’t work! I’m an Upper Blood Demon chosen personally by the Demon King. My blood has evolved beyond...."
"Silence."
Erza didn’t raise her voice.
She didn’t need to.
The single word carried enough authority to immediately stop the demon’s struggling. His body stiffened beneath her palm while every instinct inside him screamed that provoking her any further would result in something far worse than death.
"If you continue irritating me, I will show you a way of dying that even your imagination is incapable of creating."
The Salesman Demon’s mouth immediately closed.
There was no laughter anymore.
No mocking smile.
He became completely obedient, almost like an animal that had finally understood the predator standing above it.
Sara watched from behind without moving.
Fiona stared just as intensely, while the elite agents surrounding the room unconsciously tightened their grips on their weapons.
None of them understood what Erza intended to do, but judging by the sudden fear spreading across the Salesman Demon’s face, even he had begun realizing that regeneration might not save him this time.
Her palm remained resting upon his head as an invisible force quietly passed beyond flesh, blood, and bone. She wasn’t searching his body for information, nor was she trying to force words from his mouth.
She was going directly toward the place where every secret he possessed had already been recorded.
His memories.
Erza closed her eyes as her palm remained firmly against the Salesman Demon’s head. There was no dramatic surge of mana and no visible spell formation around her.
Her consciousness simply passed through every barrier protecting his mind and entered his memories as naturally as someone opening a book.
The demon’s body immediately stiffened beneath her hand, but Erza paid no attention to him as countless memories began passing before her eyes.
She saw everything.
His miserable life before becoming a demon, the choices that eventually dragged him toward the Demonic World, and the moment his humanity disappeared completely. She watched years of memories unfold one after another, moving through them at an impossible speed while searching for anything useful.
Yet the deeper Erza went, the more her expression gradually changed. There were things hidden inside this demon’s memories that even she hadn’t expected to discover on Earth, including information about the demons’ organization, their rituals, their methods of communication, and places humanity apparently didn’t even know existed.
Then Erza saw something that finally caught her full attention.
A kingdom.
Her eyes remained closed, but a faint smile slowly appeared across her face as she continued examining what the demon had witnessed there.
She memorized everything worth remembering before casually withdrawing her consciousness. The entire process had barely taken any time, yet she had already gone through a lifetime of memories that would have taken the Agency years to uncover through interrogation.
Erza removed her hand from the Salesman Demon’s head and slowly opened her violet eyes.
"I see..."
Sara immediately focused upon her.
Erza’s smile remained as she looked down at the restrained demon.
"So that’s how things are."
The Salesman Demon stared back at her, trying to determine whether she had truly succeeded or was simply pretending.
Sara, however, had already noticed the certainty within Erza’s expression.
There was no confusion or hesitation in those violet eyes. Whatever the Dragon Queen had just done, she had clearly discovered something.
"What did you see, My Queen?" Sara asked carefully.
"Many things," Erza replied, sounding almost disappointed by some of what she had witnessed.
"His pathetic human life, his transformation into this disgusting creature, the rituals performed by his kind, and quite a few other things that may interest you."
Erza paused briefly before adding the part that immediately changed the atmosphere inside the room.
"I also saw the Demonic Kingdom."
Every person inside the interrogation room froze.
Sara’s eyes widened while Fiona instinctively stepped forward, wondering if she had heard correctly. Even the elite guards standing along the walls exchanged stunned glances.
The Demonic Kingdom wasn’t merely another hidden base they could locate with enough surveillance. Humanity had spent countless years gathering information about the Demonic World, yet even Raven and the Shadow Unit had failed to discover where such a kingdom truly existed.
Erza had discovered it within minutes.
The Salesman Demon looked even more shocked than the humans surrounding him. His black eyes widened before he violently shook his head, refusing to accept what he had just heard.
If Erza truly knew about the kingdom, then she hadn’t merely touched the surface of his memories. She had gone deep enough to uncover information he would never have revealed willingly, even under years of torture.
"That’s a lie!" the demon snapped, pulling against the holy chains.
"You’re making things up. You couldn’t possibly have seen the kingdom!"
Erza’s smile returned.
"Oh?"
She tilted her head slightly.
"You believe I’m lying?"
The demon remained silent, but the fear appearing within his eyes answered for him.
"Very well."
Erza slowly turned away from him.
"Then perhaps I should teach you something I found inside that little mind of yours."
The Salesman Demon’s expression changed immediately.
Erza calmly folded one hand behind her back before speaking as though she were recalling a passage from an ordinary book.
"From the Devil Scripture..."
The demon’s entire body stiffened.
"...the Chapter concerning the Gospel Call."
His black eyes widened to their limit.
"How..."
For the first time, genuine panic completely destroyed his composure.
"How do you know about the Scripture?"
Erza glanced over her shoulder.
The demon violently pulled against his restraints again.
"No. You’re making that up! You couldn’t have seen that! The Gospel isn’t something an outsider could possibly...."
Erza’s expression instantly turned cold.
"I have already warned you."
Her violet eyes narrowed dangerously.
"A Queen does not lie."
The demon immediately stopped speaking, but his breathing had become noticeably heavier. Sara watched the exchange with increasing interest. She had never heard the terms Devil Scripture or Gospel Call before, yet the demon’s reaction alone confirmed that Erza had touched upon something important.
Erza looked toward Sara.
"Bring me a white sheet of paper."
Sara blinked, momentarily caught off guard by such an ordinary request.
"A... sheet?"
Erza’s gaze shifted toward her.
"Now."
Sara immediately straightened.
"Sunday, bring a clean white sheet to the interrogation room."
The Agency’s artificial intelligence responded without delay. Within moments, a mechanical arm extended from a compartment along the wall, carrying a perfectly clean sheet of white paper between its metallic fingers. It moved toward Erza before stopping within her reach.
Erza calmly took the sheet.
The Salesman Demon stared at the paper.
Whatever remained of his confidence disappeared.
His breathing stopped for a moment as his gaze moved from the white sheet toward Erza’s face. Until now, some desperate part of him had continued insisting that she was bluffing, that she had learned a few demonic terms elsewhere and was merely using them to frighten him.
But the paper changed everything.
Because he knew exactly what came next.
Erza noticed the fear spreading across his face and smiled.
This time, the Salesman Demon didn’t challenge her.
He simply stared at the white sheet within the Dragon Queen’s hand, finally beginning to understand that she hadn’t merely seen fragments of his memories.
She had seen everything.
She had seen the kingdom through his memories, but seeing a place and knowing how to reach it were two entirely different things.
And if Erza truly knew how to perform the Gospel Call, then the situation had already gone far beyond anything he could control. The moment the ritual succeeded, the Demon King would know that this terrifying woman existed.
But that wasn’t what frightened him most.
The Gospel Call would connect them.
And once Erza established that connection, the Demon King wouldn’t simply become aware of her existence.
She would become aware of him.
His location.
His presence.
Perhaps even the path leading directly to him.
The Salesman Demon’s black eyes trembled as the horrifying possibility finally settled into his mind. For centuries, secrecy had protected the Demonic Kingdom better than any fortress ever could. Humanity couldn’t destroy something it couldn’t find.
But this woman was different.
If the Gospel Call succeeded...
She might be able to destroy everything they had hidden for centuries.
Erza Looked the white sheet between her hands.
Then she smiled.
