Erza visibly recoiled.

"Animalistic... love?"

Her voice became quieter with every syllable. Her fingers slowly curled against her chest as though Yuuta’s words had physically struck her there. Of everything he could have accused her of, those words seemed to cut directly into something Erza had only recently learned to accept with pride the fact that she truly loved this mortal.

"You’re calling me an animal?"

A tear slipped down her cheek as she waited for him to take it back, or at least soften what he meant.

Yuuta didn’t.

"Yes."

The apartment fell painfully silent. Neither of them moved for several seconds, and even the faint sound of their breathing suddenly seemed too loud within the room. Erza stared at Yuuta as though she were trying to decide whether anger, exhaustion, or the aftermath of the Crown Seal had made him say something so cruel.

Eventually, Erza swallowed and asked again, needing to hear the answer clearly.

"Did you really just call my love... animalistic?"

Yuuta’s expression didn’t change.

"Yes. I did."

There was no hesitation.

Erza’s lips trembled.

"...Why?"

Yuuta stared at her in disbelief.

"You want to know why?"

His voice remained controlled at first, but the frustration that had been building inside him gradually began pushing through.

"Can’t you see it yourself, Erza? Your love is obsession and dominance without understanding. You keep saying you love me, but you decide everything for me without ever asking what I want."

Erza’s eyes widened.

"You decide what I’m allowed to know. You decide what memories I’m allowed to keep. You decide what’s dangerous for me, what’s good for me, what I should understand, and when I’m allowed to understand it."

Yuuta pointed toward himself.

"Where am I in any of that?"

Erza’s mouth opened, but no answer came.

"You don’t ask me what I feel. You don’t ask what I want. You don’t even try to understand why something matters to me until I scream it into your face!"

Yuuta’s voice rose with every sentence. His aura trembled violently around him, responding to emotions he was no longer trying to suppress.

"You see something, decide what you think is right, and then that’s the end of it. Everyone else is supposed to accept your decision because you’re stronger than them."

Yuuta gave a bitter laugh.

"And then you call that love."

"Stop..."

Erza’s voice was barely audible.

Yuuta continued as though he hadn’t heard her.

"That’s why I called it animalistic. A beast can protect something it considers precious. A beast can become possessive. It can attack anything that threatens what belongs to it. It can drag what it loves back into its den and keep it there because it believes that’s the safest place."

His crimson eyes remained fixed on hers.

"But that doesn’t mean it understands what the other one wants."

Erza’s expression crumbled.

"Stop it."

Her voice trembled this time.

Yuuta’s breathing became heavier.

"You don’t love me like I’m someone standing beside you. You love me like I’m something fragile that belongs to you."

"STOP IT!"

Erza’s voice cracked through the apartment.

Tears were flowing freely down her face now, but Yuuta didn’t retreat. For once, seeing Erza cry wasn’t enough to make him swallow what he wanted to say. He had done that too many times already.

"You’re going too far, Yuuta."

Erza pressed one trembling hand against her chest.

"I was trying to save you. Everything I did was because I was trying to protect you!"

Yuuta’s expression twisted immediately.

"Again."

Erza froze.

"Again and again and again!"

Yuuta’s voice rose.

"You keep saying the same thing! ’I’m doing this for you.’ ’I’m protecting you.’ ’It’s because I love you.’ But did you ever stop and ask whether any of it was actually helping me?"

Erza stared at him.

"I’m still suffering!"

The words struck harder than everything before them.

Yuuta’s voice cracked as another tear rolled down his cheek.

"I’m still waking up without knowing who I am. I’m still wondering why I don’t have parents. I’m still having nightmares I don’t understand. I’m still discovering that people around me know things about my own life that I don’t!"

He struck his chest with his palm.

"So tell me, Erza... what exactly did all those decisions you made ’for me’ actually do for me?"

Erza’s lips parted.

Nothing came out.

Yuuta looked at her, waiting.

"What did you do for me?"

His voice became quieter.

Erza’s mind immediately screamed with answers. She had protected him. She had worried about him. She had left things behind for him. She had placed herself between him and dangers he didn’t even know existed. She had loved him with an intensity she had never felt for anyone throughout her long existence.

But Yuuta wasn’t asking whether she had feelings for him.

He was asking whether she had ever allowed those feelings to include his choices.

And suddenly, Erza couldn’t find the words.

Yuuta interpreted her silence as his answer.

"Apart from hiding things from me and deciding everything for me... what have you actually done that made me feel like you trusted me?"

Erza’s breath caught.

"You keep telling me you love me, but from where I’m standing..."

Yuuta swallowed.

"...all you’ve done is act like you love me."

That one hurt.

Erza went completely silent.

Only a short day ago, Yuuta had kissed her.

She could still remember the warmth of it.

Only minutes earlier, he had held her, trusted her enough to place his hand in hers, and asked her to finally tell him the truth. For Erza, those moments had felt like proof that the impossible distance between a Dragon Queen and a mortal man was finally beginning to disappear.

Now that same man stood several steps away from her and wouldn’t even allow her to touch him.

Everything had changed so quickly that Erza’s mind couldn’t keep up.

Her trembling hand slowly moved toward her lips, almost unconsciously remembering his kiss. The memory that had made her heart race earlier now felt unbearably painful.

"Acting...?"

Erza whispered through her tears.

Her violet eyes slowly lifted toward him.

"You think..."

Erza’s throat tightened so painfully that even forcing the words out became difficult. Her violet eyes remained fixed on Yuuta, desperately searching his face for the smallest sign that she had misunderstood him, that perhaps his anger had made his words sound crueler than he truly intended.

"...I’ve only been pretending to love you?"

Yuuta stared back at her for several seconds. There was still pain in his crimson eyes, but he didn’t look away or soften what he had said.

"Yes. You’ve only been pretending to love me, Erza. And here I was actually starting to believe that maybe you were learning to love me and trust me like the way a human would."

His voice gradually lost some of its anger, leaving behind something much more painful. Yuuta lowered his gaze for a moment as memories of the time they had spent together passed through his mind, making what he was about to say hurt him almost as much as it would hurt her.

"I thought we were growing together. I thought all those moments between us actually meant something. I thought maybe, little by little, you were beginning to understand me. But now..."

Yuuta’s crimson eyes lowered.

"But now..."

He took a shaky breath.

"...I’m afraid of your love."

Erza didn’t answer him. Her head gradually lowered until strands of white hair fell across her face, hiding the expression Yuuta could no longer see. Her shoulders trembled faintly while his accusations continued repeating inside her mind, each one striking somewhere she didn’t know how to defend.

He had called her love obsessive.

He had called it controlling, possessive, and now he was accusing her of merely pretending to love him. Each accusation hurt because love itself was still something frighteningly new to Erza.

She had spent centuries understanding strength, authority, loyalty, war, and death, yet this ridiculous mortal had somehow dragged emotions from places inside her that she had buried so deeply she once believed they no longer existed.

And now that same mortal was telling her none of it had been real.

Yuuta turned his face slightly away while breathing heavily. His emotions were still running wild, and before he could properly consider how cruel his next thought would sound, the words escaped beneath his breath.

"What was I even expecting..."

His voice was quiet.

"I was expecting human love from a beast who was never human in the first place."

Something inside Erza broke.

The atmosphere inside the apartment changed so suddenly that Yuuta’s eyes widened. An enormous pressure erupted from Erza’s body, causing the windows to rattle violently while furniture trembled against the floor and the walls groaned beneath the overwhelming presence that had suddenly filled the room.

Yuuta instinctively tensed as fear crawled through his body, yet strangely, he remained standing. Only after several seconds did he realize that Erza’s aura wasn’t uncontrolled at all. Despite everything raging inside her, she was deliberately restricting the pressure touching him, allowing her emotions to shake the apartment while keeping enough of that monstrous power away from Yuuta to prevent him from collapsing.

Even now, after everything he had said to her, Erza was still protecting him from herself.

Yuuta didn’t notice the irony. His attention remained fixed entirely on Erza as she slowly began walking toward him, her expression still hidden beneath the curtain of white hair covering her face. Every step she took made his instincts scream at him to move backward, especially after everything he had already witnessed about her strength.

For the first time during their argument, Yuuta genuinely became afraid of her. His throat tightened as Erza approached, yet pride, anger, and the pain of having his memories taken from him kept his feet firmly planted where they were.

Erza eventually stopped directly in front of him.

Yuuta swallowed nervously as he stared at the woman standing only a step away. He couldn’t see her eyes beneath her hair, and somehow that made the silence surrounding her even more frightening.

"What now?"

His voice wasn’t as confident as before, but the anger kept him standing.

"What are you going to do? Hurt me?"

Erza didn’t answer.

Yuuta’s jaw tightened.

"Kill me because you can’t prove me wrong?"

Erza’s hand moved before Yuuta could react.

SLAP!

The sound exploded throughout the apartment as Erza’s palm struck his cheek.

Yuuta’s head snapped to the side, his entire body freezing from the shock rather than the actual force behind it.

Had Erza truly struck him with even a fraction of her physical strength, the consequences would have been horrifying, but she had restrained herself enough that only a burning red mark remained across his cheek.

Yuuta slowly raised his hand toward the place she had struck. His crimson eyes remained wide as he touched the burning skin, unable to believe that Erza had actually slapped him.

When he finally turned toward her again, he expected rage.

What he saw instead made him forget about his cheek.

Erza was crying.

Tears streamed freely down her face while her violet eyes stared directly into his.

The overwhelming aura surrounding her remained powerful, but the woman standing before Yuuta didn’t look like an enraged Dragon Queen preparing to punish someone for insulting her.

She looked heartbroken.

"I hate you."

Yuuta’s expression went blank.

Erza’s lips trembled violently as she tried to hold herself together, but another tear rolled down her cheek before she could stop it.

"I fucking hate you, Yuuta. I hate you so much right now."

Her voice cracked halfway through the sentence, destroying whatever anger she had tried to place behind those words.

She pressed one trembling hand against her chest, almost as though she could physically hold together whatever had broken inside her.

"I was a fool."

Erza shook her head as another tear fell.

"I was such a fucking fool for falling in love with you."

Yuuta’s hand remained against his burning cheek, but suddenly he couldn’t feel the pain anymore. His mind had gone completely blank as he stared at Erza, watching tears continue to fall from the same woman he had believed incapable of understanding his feelings.

Erza took a step backward, followed by another, putting distance between herself and Yuuta before she did or said something she would regret even more.

She didn’t wait for him to respond because she genuinely didn’t know how much more she could endure tonight.

She turned toward the balcony.

"Erza..."

Yuuta called her name instinctively, and even he seemed surprised that it had escaped him. For a brief moment, some part of him wanted her to stop, but Erza continued walking without turning around.

She pushed open the balcony door, allowing the cold night air to rush into the apartment and send her long white hair flowing behind her.

Her shoulders remained tense as she stepped outside, and then two enormous dragon wings slowly emerged from her back, their pale outer surface contrasting against the darker membranes beneath.

Yuuta watched from inside the apartment as the wings spread across the balcony. His anger weakened for the briefest moment when he realized she was actually leaving, and his lips parted before his thoughts could decide whether he truly wanted to stop her.

"Wait....."

Erza’s wings struck the air before he could finish.

A powerful gust rushed through the apartment as she launched herself from the balcony and soared toward the night sky. Yuuta hurried forward, but by the time he reached the open doorway, Erza was already disappearing between the distant buildings without looking back even once.

The apartment gradually became silent again, leaving Yuuta standing alone beside the balcony with one hand still resting against his burning cheek. The entire argument began replaying inside his mind whether he wanted it to or not: Erza’s tears, the trembling in her voice, the expression she had worn when he called her a beast, and finally those three words she had thrown at him before leaving.

I hate you.

Yuuta stared toward the empty sky for a long time. Now that Erza was gone and there was nobody left for his anger to fight against, an uncomfortable feeling slowly entered his chest.

"...Did I go too far?"

The question escaped before he could stop it. For several seconds, Yuuta genuinely considered everything he had said, especially the moment he had called her a beast incapable of human love, but guilt immediately collided with the memory of waking up without his memories.

Yuuta clenched his fists and shook his head.

"No... I wasn’t wrong. She erased my memory. She tried to do it again right in front of me, and she still wouldn’t listen to what I wanted. Maybe I said too much, but that doesn’t suddenly make what she did okay."

His voice trembled slightly, almost as though he were trying to convince himself. Yuuta looked toward the direction Erza had disappeared, feeling that uncomfortable pain in his chest become stronger despite everything he told himself.

"If she hates me..."

He swallowed painfully.

"...then I hate her too."

The words felt wrong the moment they left his mouth.

That only made him angrier.

Yuuta suddenly stepped onto the balcony and gripped the railing tightly, staring into the night sky while all the betrayal, confusion, guilt, and anger inside him collided at once.

"I HATE YOU TOO!"

His scream disappeared into the night.

"YOU HEAR ME, ERZA?!"

There was no answer.

Yuuta’s crimson eyes filled with tears again.

"YOU FUCKING LIZARD QUEEN!"

His fingers tightened around the railing.

"I WISH YOU NEVER CAME BACK!"

The final words echoed into the night before slowly fading into the distance.

Yuuta remained gripping the balcony railing, breathing heavily as tears streamed down his face. His anger told him that he had meant every word, yet somewhere beneath it, his chest ached in a way he refused to acknowledge.

Far above the city, Erza heard every word.

Her wings continued carrying her through the night sky, but her flight slowed for the briefest moment. Another tear slipped from her violet eyes and disappeared into the wind behind her. She didn’t turn around, and Yuuta didn’t call for her again.

Neither of them knew what had truly happened tonight.

Neither of them understood what their argument had truly set into motion.

For now, Yuuta believed he had simply driven Erza away.

Erza believed she simply needed distance from the man who had broken her heart.

Neither knew that somewhere beyond the peaceful city...

fate had already begun moving.

To Be Continued...

Yuuta wasn’t trying to give an objective judgment of Erza’s love. He was hurt, angry, and felt betrayed after realizing how much of his own life had been decided without him. Some of his words were things he genuinely felt; others went much further than he intended. This argument is meant to show two people hurting each other while both believe they have a reason to feel betrayed.
