"Yu Hongdou!"

"..."

"Why didn't you come when I called?"

"You lied to me. That isn't manners at all."

"Who told you that?"

"That demon passing by earlier told me."

"Are you stupid? You'll believe an outsider but not me? You rebellious son!"

"I don't believe you. Barely a word of truth comes out of your mouth."

"..."

This little guy was actually quite smart—completely unlike that stupid cat!

But it made sense. He was created by someone surnamed Chen, after all, so he had to be at least somewhat intelligent.

Yu Hongdou looked at her. Seeing her deep in thought, he immediately declared, "Don't even think about tricking me again. I'm not who I used to be."

"?"

Yu Hongjin paused, thinking to herself.

Suddenly, she felt this little guy was no fun anymore.

Hmm, what to do?

Prince Yu returned safely to Qingshan City.

This trip had its losses and gains, but at the very least, it taught him a lesson.

He would likely never have the chance to be so willful again in this life.

It was a particularly sorrowful realization.

However, he could only choose to accept it.

As for Ruyi, she stayed home for just one night after arriving in Qingshan City before planning to leave.

Yan Nantian sought her out and said, "You saved my life—twice, no less. I don't know how to repay you. Money, silver taels, official titles, power... you don't seem to need any of them..."

Hearing this, Ruyi replied, "I don't care for official titles, but I certainly want money. If you give me a million or so silver taels, I'll definitely take it."

Yan Nantian smiled helplessly. "I don't have that much at the moment."

A million or so would equal the realm's entire annual tax revenue during times of peace.

"See? You just don't have it," Ruyi said.

Yan Nantian thought for a moment and said, "Perhaps I will in the future."

Ruyi burst into laughter. "Don't joke around. Even if you did have it, you wouldn't necessarily give it to me. All right, all right, I'm leaving."

Yan Nantian looked at her. "Qingshan City is peaceful now. Why don't you move back here with your family?"

But Ruyi answered, "Forget it. The master of Qingshan City has changed time and time again over the years; who knows if you'll be the last? Besides, I'm doing quite well over there. Living on the frontier, with no wars or disasters and weather like spring all year round. Why should I rush back to suffer?"

"I'm off!"

Without waiting for Yan Nantian's reply, Ruyi mounted her horse.

Yan Nantian wanted to say something, but the words stuck in his throat.

Ruyi looked back at him and said, "Listen."

"You need to show some growth and not be such a useless fool like you were this time. My words might be harsh, but as a friend, I really hope you can bring peace to this world. Just don't be willful anymore. Back then, his majesty arbitrarily wrote that decree, and it turned the world into this state. You should understand that."

Hearing this, Yan Nantian closed his eyes and nodded.

He murmured under his breath, "Never again."

When he looked up, he saw Ruyi riding away.

He did not know if Ruyi had heard his final words.

But it didn't matter. He had already made his decision.

When he raised his hand again, only calmness remained in Yan Nantian's eyes. That profound look was somewhat chilling to behold.

This trip had changed the man.

It was as if he had discarded many of his earthly desires.

The scenery of Qiuyue Fang remained the same.

Dressed in ordinary clothes, Dong Chiyu was practicing her spear on the hillside outside the settlement.

With her Long Spear in hand, her skills were masterful. Every move and stance was clean and decisive, without the slightest hesitation.

Suddenly, the sound of galloping hooves rang out.

Dong Chiyu looked over and saw a person galloping down the distant official road on horseback.

She quickly stopped, put down her spear, and ran toward the rider.

She didn't stop until she reached the side of the official road beneath the hill.

Dong Chiyu caught her breath, watching the person draw nearer.

"Hyah!"

Ruyi yanked hard on the reins.

The horse reared up on its hind legs, its front hooves kicking high into the air.

The gentle breeze fluttered Dong Chiyu's hair.

She gazed up at the captivating, incredibly dashing woman on horseback and couldn't help but stare.

Amidst the horse's whinnying, Ruyi looked at Dong Chiyu by the roadside.

"Handsome, isn't it?" Ruyi asked.

She was referring to her riding skills.

Dong Chiyu snapped back to reality and immediately replied, "I can do that too."

Ruyi smiled and said, "Get on."

"My spear is still on the hill," Dong Chiyu said.

But Ruyi simply grabbed her hand and hoisted her onto the horse.

"Get it tomorrow."

"Hold tight!"

Dong Chiyu pressed against Ruyi's back.

Blushing slightly, she wrapped her arms around Ruyi's waist.

Ruyi was somewhat frivolous and mostly carried herself like a man, which often gave Dong Chiyu the wrong impression.

But what truly made her blush was Ruyi's unbridled nature—a free-spirited wildness rarely seen in this world.

"Hyah!"

With every stride the horse took, they grew one step closer to home.

The years are ever impermanent.

The following spring, the grand army marched out!

Prince Yu's Army was fully marshaled and mobilized, driving straight toward Jindi.

Fortunately, Prince Jin had anticipated this and linked the northern and southern battlefronts, temporarily holding off the offensive from Prince Yu's Army. Furthermore, with many extraordinary masters in his camp, Prince Jin even held a slight upper hand when the two sides clashed with equal troop numbers.

The two armies became locked in a stalemate along this north-south battlefront.

But how could Prince Yu's camp lack formidable extraordinary masters of its own?

Prince Yu invited Mister Zhu out of his tent.

Beneath the city walls, Zhu Sheng single-handedly took on four demons and two cultivators. During the magical battle, he forced his opponents into a steady retreat with just a move or two.

With the army's morale greatly boosted, the grand army pushed forward in one vigorous effort and stormed the city.

"Charge!"

After a month of stalemate, they had finally torn open a gap in the north-south battlefront at this location.

The army occupied the city and, using it as a starting point, began marching toward the Northern Territory.

Prince Jin's defeat at this location was immediately reported back to his main camp.

At this same time, the Imperial Court also intensified its offensive.

They adopted a fierce posture, intent on kicking him while he was down and taking his life.

Prince Jin flew into a rage; rumor had it that he shattered three long tables in a row inside his tent.

Left with no choice, he had to stretch his battlefront with the Imperial Court while dispatching additional troops to resist Prince Yu's offensive.

A game of chess played years ago had yielded no benefit to any of the players on the board at the time, yet it had inadvertently forged the rise of Prince Yu.

Prince Yu's Army had risen with sudden ferocity, catching everyone off guard.

Looking at it now, it seemed as if the entire world was already in Prince Yu's pocket, just waiting for the right moment.

At night, Prince Jin could not help but fall into deep thought.

He wondered how the situation had deteriorated to this state.

It was as though absolutely everything had been prearranged for Prince Yu.

While he, on the contrary, seemed to have become merely a game piece.

He had always thought he was the one playing the board.

"Just who is it..."

Prince Jin simply could not figure it out, only feeling that these waters were terrifyingly muddy!
