"Blockhead, I think we might have misunderstood."

"Hmm?"

"Her aptitude is just far too poor."

Dong Chiyu followed her gaze and saw Yu Youyu crying as she practiced in the courtyard.

Ruyi muttered, "Maybe Uncle Chen was just saying... hmm..."

Whatever the case, they had definitely misunderstood.

Dong Chiyu asked, "So what do we do now?"

Ruyi rubbed her nose and shook her head.

Dong Chiyu blinked.

They decided they knew nothing.

Squatting on the wall and licking its paws, Lihua listened to the conversation below, imaginary black lines forming on its forehead.

How were either of them good people!

"Waaah..."

Yu Youyu wiped her tears as she swung the blade. Just lifting the weapon was a struggle, let alone holding it up with one hand.

This was practically killing the little girl.

It was entirely an undeserved calamity.

Clatter.

The sword fell to the ground, ringing against the dirt.

Yu Youyu sat in the dirt, looking fearfully at Ruyi.

Shaking her head, she cried, "I can't lift it anymore, I just can't..."

Ruyi and Dong Chiyu exchanged a glance and let out a long sigh.

Left with no other choice, they found her a Wooden Sword instead.

The Wooden Sword was an acceptable compromise; at the very least, it wouldn't exhaust her.

Yu Youyu breathed a sigh of relief, but she still looked at Ruyi and Dong Chiyu as if they were great demon kings. She was always a little terrified.

And no matter how they looked at it, her movements while practicing were full of resistance.

Seeing this, Ruyi stepped forward and asked, "Do you really not want to learn?"

Yu Youyu looked at her fearfully and mumbled, "No..."

"You don't want to?"

"No, no, I want to learn! I want to learn!"

Ruyi blinked. "Do you really? Tell the truth now."

Yu Youyu was so anxious she was on the verge of tears, convinced that if she said no, this person might butcher her on the spot.

"I want to learn. I want to learn, I really want to learn!"

Ruyi patted her head. "Very well. Since you truly want to learn, I'll teach you properly. We'll produce a female Sword Immortal in this jianghu and scare everyone half to death."

Dong Chiyu's interest was piqued. She nodded. "That sounds fun."

Lihua couldn't help but facepalm, turning its head away, unwilling to listen to any more of this.

And so, under Ruyi and Dong Chiyu's "ferocious" tempering, Yu Youyu helped out at the wine shop during the day and came to the courtyard to practice at night.

Ruyi felt that her progress was simply too slow. She eventually threw down some money and bought the entire wine shop, hiring someone else to help Yu Youyu sell the wine.

They also met Yu Youyu's grandfather.

Her grandfather was quite a principled man. The first time Ruyi walked through the door, he had grabbed a cleaver, fully prepared to fight them to the death.

Only after Ruyi and Dong Chiyu explained themselves multiple times did the old man finally understand. The older generation was always quick on the uptake; even though the girls' "confession" was incredibly abstract, he managed to grasp the gist of it.

In the end, it was just about teaching his granddaughter swordsmanship.

"So it was a misunderstanding..."

"Little Fish is timid. Please bear with her, you two. I'll properly explain things to her later."

"It is a good thing for a girl to learn martial arts, yes..."

The old man didn't say much more, but after learning their reasons, he let out a long sigh of relief, as if a heavy burden had been lifted from his heart.

Ruyi asked him why.

The old man said, "Little Fish's parents died in these chaotic times. Once my old bones are gone, I don't know if she'll be able to survive in peace. I'm afraid she won't be able to marry into a good family, either. If she can learn some martial arts, I can rest a little easier."

Hearing this, Ruyi and Dong Chiyu felt a bitter pang in their hearts.

Dong Chiyu couldn't help but think of her own parents.

Learning from the pain, the two girls firmed their resolve: they absolutely had to train a peerless Sword Immortal!

Unfortunately, there was a catch.

When it came to fighting, neither of them would lose to anyone.

But when it came to teaching martial arts, they were completely clueless.

Back when Ruyi taught Dong Chiyu, her instructions had been a random mess, and Dong Chiyu had simply beaten down seasoned masters with wild swings. The two of them were stinking together in agreement, which was why Dong Chiyu had managed to learn the gist of it, stumbling upon it by sheer luck.

But when it came to Yu Youyu, they were completely stumped.

Ruyi let out a long sigh and said, "What should we do about this..."

Dong Chiyu blinked. She had no idea either.

"Idiots."

Lihua spoke up from atop the wall, unable to watch this any longer.

Ruyi looked up. "What, do you have an idea?"

Lihua replied, "Don't you have a younger brother? Doesn't he know swordplay?"

Ruyi's eyes instantly lit up.

"Right!"

This period of time was probably Lihua's finest hour in the Mortal World. No longer was anyone calling it an idiot, because right now, these two were even dumber than it was.

"Little Fish, pack your things. We're going on a long trip!"

Yu Youyu hugged the Wooden Sword, completely bewildered.

Her heart, however, skipped a beat.

Even though her grandfather had explained things to her, she still didn't believe them. She still felt these two were just fattening her up to sell her off, and now, the time had finally come.

But it wasn't up to her to refuse.

Ruyi and Dong Chiyu dragged her away by force.

They rushed along the road for four or five days.

Yu Youyu was brought to a place called Nanbeilou.

At the same time, she also met the "teacher" the great demon king had spoken of.

This "teacher" was vastly different from the two great demon kings.

The man before her looked elegant and easygoing. His hair was a mix of black and white, yet he still appeared quite young. He spoke at a leisurely pace and wasn't the least bit frightening.

Listening to them chat, Yu Youyu began to ponder inwardly.

Is this the buyer?

Yu Youyu wanted to cry but had no tears. Her life was officially over.

Just as she thought this.

Ping'an's gaze turned toward her.

Yu Youyu couldn't help but feel timid, so she lowered her head.

But Ping'an's gaze wasn't on her; it was on the sword she was hugging to her chest.

Ping'an rubbed his chin, falling into thought.

With this sword, did she even need to be taught?

He didn't quite understand. He looked at his older sister and whispered, "Sister, you didn't force her, did you?"

Ruyi blinked. "How could I force anyone?"

Lihua's whiskers twitched. Even the cat didn't believe that.

Ruyi said, "Anyway, just teach her properly. Blockhead and I don't really understand swords, but you do. I'm leaving this girl to you. If I hear her name in the jianghu in the future and it doesn't carry the title of Sword Immortal, I'm going to beat you up."

Ping'an coughed a few times. "I'm not even a Sword Immortal myself. Sister, you're making things too difficult."

"Shut up, Ping'an."

"..."

Ping'an looked at her helplessly. "That was from when we were kids. Why are you still bringing it up?"

Ruyi snorted softly and turned her head away.

Basically, she didn't care. She wanted it this way, and he had to help her. If he didn't, he was dead meat!

"I give up," he said.

"Hmph."

From then on, Yu Youyu practiced the sword with this man named Ping'an.

It was worth noting that after just a single month, her swordsmanship advanced by leaps and bounds, surpassing what Ruyi could have taught her in a year or two.
