Su Junhan told Xiao Dongxu the answer he had gleaned from Mister Chen's divine sense.

Xiao Dongxu was somewhat bewildered by the response.

"Between life and death? Where yin and yang follow one another..."

Xiao Dongxu first thought of the transition between the sun and the moon, but on second thought, that didn't feel right. His mind soon landed on the Underworld.

It seemed only that place fit the description perfectly.

A place separating yin and yang, nestled right between life and death.

Su Junhan said, "It seems Young Priest Xiao is thinking the same thing I am."

Xiao Dongxu nodded. "It's in the Underworld."

Su Junhan's expression turned grave. "Perhaps we need to make a trip to the Underworld."

Su Junhan looked at him, realizing there was more to his words.

"How so?"

Xiao Dongxu gathered his thoughts and said, "There is something Tianji Mountain has never revealed to the outside world."

Su Junhan raised an eyebrow, suddenly sensing something wrong.

Xiao Dongxu then shared his discoveries and speculations, mentioning that Mister Zhong had gone to the Underworld as well.

Su Junhan's expression instantly changed, realizing just how thorny the situation was.

The two exchanged a look; both felt this would be incredibly difficult to resolve.

Leaving aside how difficult it was to enter the Underworld, right now they couldn't even find its gates.

How were they supposed to find it? And where?

Furthermore, if the Underworld really had been occupied by demonic cultivators, sending just two or three people would be like throwing themselves to the wolves—they would never return.

Su Junhan said, "We need to plan this carefully."

Xiao Dongxu nodded, his expression just as heavy.

The matter had reached a stalemate.

The two returned to Tianji Mountain to discuss countermeasures.

When the Old Dragon King heard the news, his expression shifted slightly. His previous joking demeanor vanished, replaced by grave seriousness.

As he looked at Chen Changsheng lying unconscious on the bed, a sudden thought popped into the Old Dragon King's mind.

Is he really going to die...?

The more the Old Dragon King thought about it, the more terrified he felt.

If he died...

He didn't even dare think deeply about the shockwave it would cause.

But how could that be?

How could he possibly die?

The Old Dragon King couldn't make sense of it, yet right now, he was truly staring at a fatal outcome.

It was bizarre.

In his eyes, a situation like this was the very last thing that should have happened.

While they discussed countermeasures, sunset suddenly arrived one day.

When they snapped out of their thoughts and looked at the bed, Chen Changsheng was nowhere to be seen.

"Where is Mister Chen?"

The three of them froze, their hearts skipping a beat.

"Find him!"

They searched all of Tianji Mountain, but they couldn't find a single trace of him.

It was as if he had vanished into thin air without a sound.

Su Junhan and Xiao Dongxu fell into deep thought, their expressions growing heavier.

The Old Dragon King, however, knew exactly what had happened. Yet he didn't say a word about it, choosing to remain silent and pretend he knew nothing.

When Ruyi learned of this, she was momentarily dazed.

"He suddenly... disappeared?"

Ruyi looked blankly at the three people in front of her.

Xiao Dongxu opened his mouth and said, "Miss Wang, about this..."

He didn't know how to explain it either.

Ruyi looked at them, not knowing what kind of explanation they could possibly offer.

From start to finish, the whole affair seemed bizarre.

...

The Underworld and Yellow Springs, the Netherworld Land.

When Chen Changsheng's divine sense returned to Reincarnation once more...

The 'Evil Phoenix' sitting cross-legged before the Gate of Reincarnation seemed to sense something.

"He's back."

Manyue opened her eyes and looked over.

The 'Evil Phoenix' nodded. "It's almost time."

He slowly stood up.

He gazed at the Gate of Reincarnation. It was deep, devoid of light, and completely silent, representing the cycle of life and death, the chaos of yin and yang.

"I will go make preparations."

Leaving those words behind, the Evil Phoenix departed.

Manyue watched his retreating figure, praying that nothing would go wrong with what was to come.

Jian Shenghua was led to the sealed lands of the Underworld.

The one guiding him was the Demon Lord, who had borrowed the body of the Evil Phoenix.

"Demon Sovereign."

The Evil Phoenix looked at him and said, "I have a task for you."

Jian Shenghua paused, then cupped his hands. "I am willing to go through hell and high water for the Demon Sovereign!"

The Evil Phoenix waved his hand. "It's nothing that will cost you your life. As long as you act carefully, getting away won't be hard."

Jian Shenghua paused again. Then, he saw the Evil Phoenix raise a hand.

The seals were completely shattered. A gust of wind immediately kicked up, blowing away the dust that covered what lay beneath.

A headless body appeared before Jian Shenghua's eyes.

Jian Shenghua was startled. "This is... Demon Sovereign! This is your..."

The Evil Phoenix nodded. "My body."

Jian Shenghua trembled inwardly.

The Evil Phoenix looked at him. "What I need you to do is bring this body to the Mortal World."

Jian Shenghua's heart raced, knowing this trip would not be easy.

But when he looked closely, he sensed something amiss. He asked, "Demon Sovereign, your body..."

The Evil Phoenix knew what he wanted to ask.

He then raised his hand, and a Black Pagoda appeared in his palm.

The Evil Phoenix tapped it with a finger.

The pagoda suddenly spun. Like a delicate mechanism being unlocked, it opened layer by layer, revealing what lay inside.

The Evil Phoenix reached inside.

He pulled a head out from the pagoda.

In just a short half-year...

Demonic energy had permeated the entire Cultivation World.

Over the past six months, the demonic energy had grown increasingly rampant. Through Xiao Dongxu's investigations, they found that the demonic energy brought by newborns was also increasing. Even though the cultivators from the major Immortal Sects across the Cultivation World joined forces to call down heavenly punishment, they failed to halt the demonic energy's rise.

Not only that, the demonic cultivators had also made their move.

Those bizarre Altars appeared in everyone's sight once more.

This time, however, everyone managed to see through their purpose.

The true intent behind these Altars was to summon souls.

A blood sacrifice back then had brought that demon's soul back to the Mortal World. Now, they were summoning and guiding the soul, trying to make it whole again.

After discovering this, the various Immortal Mountains gathered together to discuss countermeasures, all to prevent the demon's resurrection.

Patrols around the Cultivation World grew more frequent. They didn't dare overlook the barren mountains and wild ridges, dispatching personnel to sweep back and forth.

But even so, it still wasn't enough to stop the demonic cultivators from performing their rituals. The Cultivation World was so vast; they were bound to miss a spot or two.

Even in the Mortal World, demonic cultivators had appeared to summon souls.

It was impossible to guard against every move.

Chen Daoqiu couldn't shake the feeling that the demonic cultivators were brewing some sort of conspiracy. Their methods were no longer the petty, sneaking actions of the past. Instead, they were moving with great fanfare, which felt terribly wrong to him.

Yet, no matter how hard he thought about it, he couldn't figure out why they were acting this way.

Regardless, there was definitely something amiss.
