Xuanji had just eaten her fill at the imperial palace and was heading back to the manor.

As a commandery princess, she should have been escorted by personal guards. However, ever since she began learning cultivation methods from her uncles at the Quandao Palace, she had been coming and going from the palace all on her own.

Few could best her in a fight.

Humming a little tune as she walked down the street, Xuanji suddenly spotted three familiar figures heading her way.

"Uncle Qingyun, Uncle Qingshan, Uncle Qingming!"

Xuanji immediately called out to greet them.

The three Daoists from the Quandao Palace looked over. Seeing her, they hurried forward and bowed respectfully, greeting her as the commandery princess.

Daoist Qingming then asked, "Commandery Princess, you aren't at the manor?"

"No, I'm just on my way back from the palace," Xuanji replied before asking, "By the way, what are you three uncles doing in such a hurry?"

He hesitated for a moment, then said, "We're looking for the commandery princess's... your grand-uncle. Yes, he should be your grand-uncle."

"Huh?"

Xuanji blinked in surprise. "Grand-uncle? Mine?"

"That's right!"

Daoist Qingming explained, "I don't know if Commandery Princess Ruyi has ever mentioned him to you, but she had an uncle years ago. Going by seniority, that would make him your grand-uncle."

Xuanji searched her memory, feeling a bit dazed.

After a moment of thought, she asked, "Grand-uncle Chen?"

"You know of him?"

Xuanji stared blankly and said, "I've heard Big Sister and Second Sister mention him before, but I've never actually met him. I thought... I thought..."

"I'll explain it to you in detail later. This Mister Chen is a great benefactor to our Quanshan. He suddenly arrived in the capital today, but your manor's steward unexpectedly turned him away. We're searching for him right now."

"What?"

Unable to make sense of the situation for the moment, Xuanji simply said, "I'll help you look for him."

"Alright."

"Qingyun, Qingshan, take the commandery princess with you. I'll go search over there."

"Yes, Senior Brother."

The few of them searched back and forth across Shangjing City.

But Shangjing City was massive. Where were they even supposed to start looking?

Daoist Qingming even made a trip to the City Gate Temple to ask a few Patrol Spirits from the Netherworld Bureau, but none of them had any impression of him.

"What do we do now..."

They searched continuously from noon until sunset, yet they didn't catch so much as a glimpse of him.

Qingming and the others gathered together, sighing repeatedly in helplessness.

"This Mister Chen is entirely too difficult to find," Qingyun said with a heavy sigh.

Qingming said, "Mister Chen's whereabouts are unpredictable. Even the Sect Master might not be able to find him, let alone us."

"It's already dark out," Qingshan said. "Senior Brother, are we going to keep searching?"

Xuanji sat off to the side eating steamed buns, swallowing half a bun in a single bite. She was starving.

"You three uncles, what does this grand-uncle of mine actually look like?" she asked. "I've never even met him."

Qingming paused, then said, "To be honest, we've never met him either. But according to what the elders said before, this Mister Chen favors wearing a green robe. Mister Chen is inherently a man detached from worldly affairs, so he is very easy to recognize when walking in a crowd."

"Is my grand-uncle that amazing?"

Qingming nodded and said, "Incredibly so!"

He said, "Years ago, our Quanshan strayed down the wrong path, and it was entirely because of this gentleman that Quanshan returned to the righteous course. In those days, regardless of which demons or cultivators they were, almost everyone in this world had heard Mister Chen's name. Not only is Mister Chen close friends with the Dragon Lord of the Tongtian River, but the Demon Market in the Northern Region also owes him a debt of gratitude. In fact, a single word from Mister Chen back then meant no one in the entire world dared to offend Commandery Princess Ruyi."

"Big Sister?"

"Yes. Commandery Princess Ruyi has lived a life of peace, not just because she is a commandery princess personally appointed by His Majesty, but even more so because Mister Chen is her uncle."

"But..."

Xuanji pursed her lips and said, "Then why haven't I ever seen him?"

Listening to her uncle describe this legendary Mister Chen, she found it a little hard to believe for a moment. She had seen plenty of powerful Immortal Practitioners, but she had never seen Uncle Qingming evaluate anyone quite like this.

Daoist Qingming paused and said, "I don't know either. Mister Chen hasn't shown his face in the Mortal World for many years."

"Is that so..."

Xuanji pursed her lips and popped the last bite of the steamed bun into her mouth.

She clapped her hands clean and looked up at the moon.

"I'd kind of like to meet him," Xuanji muttered.

What could this person possibly look like?

Uncle Qingming had said her grand-uncle was a man detached from worldly affairs. Calculating the years, this grand-uncle was probably very old by now. Just an old man with a white beard and white hair?

Unconsciously, Xuanji had already pictured a face in her mind.

Only, this face was relatively quite stern.

Qingming let out a sigh and said, "Does the commandery princess want to keep searching?"

"Huh?"

Xuanji thought for a moment, but shook her head and said, "If you three uncles can't find him, let alone me. Besides, it's completely dark out. Where else is there to look?"

Daoist Qingming waved his hand and said, "Very well, let's see again tomorrow. It would be best if we find him, but not finding him also seems reasonable."

"It's getting dark. Let me escort the commandery princess back to the manor."

"No, no need. It's not a big deal."

"It's not safe in the dark. The commandery princess should just listen to me."

"Hmm... alright."

Under the escort of the three Daoists, Xuanji returned to the Commandery Princess Manor.

The moment she stepped through the door, she saw the steward waiting to the side.

"Commandery Princess, earlier today..."

Xuanji looked at the steward and said, "I know about this. My three uncles told me."

The steward trembled. "Commandery Princess, this lowly one didn't do it on purpose..."

"I know."

Xuanji didn't mind, however, and said, "After all, who would believe those kinds of words when they're spoken? Let alone you, if that person stood in front of me, I'd have to tell someone to beat him up too. Alright, stop panicking. Go back and rest."

The steward looked as if he had just been granted amnesty and nodded profusely.

Xuanji went further into the manor. After sitting down, she drank a mouthful of tea. The steamed buns had been sticking in her throat; only now did she feel a bit more comfortable.

The steward didn't dare to leave, continuing to wait to the side.

Xuanji then asked, "When grand-uncle came, did he say what matter he came for?"

The steward searched his memory. "I think... I think he said he came to fetch a sword."

"A sword?"

Xuanji pondered for a long while, her brow furrowing.

After thinking for ages, she simply started rummaging through the manor.

In the end, she really did find a sword in Big Sister's room.

That sword was hanging right on the wall, and no one had ever touched it.

Looking at the sword, Xuanji took it down and drew it out for a look.

In an instant, an aura of blood and malevolence suddenly pervaded the air.

"Clack!"

Xuanji jolted, instantly snapping awake, and hastily shoved the sword back into its scabbard.

"Haa, haa, haa..."

In that moment just now, it was as if Xuanji had seen a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood, with heads rolling everywhere and blood flowing like rivers.

She gasped for breath, looking at the sword in her hands, and muttered, "Just what kind of sword... is this?"

How could it be so malevolent?!

What rattled her even more was that a sword like this had been hanging right here, yet she hadn't noticed a thing for all these years.
