Immortal Travel of Longevity

Chapter 1346: Everything Has Changed

When Mo Henshi woke, he was lying on the shore beside the burnt-out campfire and leftover fish bones.

He stared blankly for a moment before memory suddenly rushed back.

"Immortal Master?!"

He looked around, but the man was nowhere to be seen.

Mo Henshi carefully retraced what had happened, feeling as if it had all been an illusion.

He had sought immortality for years and found nothing. Yet now, this immortal affinity had inexplicably arrived at his door.

Where was this immortal affinity?

It was a feeling Mo Henshi couldn't put into words.

Only the word "wondrous" could describe it.

He had only been one step away, and Chen Changsheng had given him the final push.

"Wondrous beyond words. Truly wondrous..."

Mo Henshi let out a hearty laugh. He radiated a spirited vitality, as if he had only just discovered his true self today. It was strange, but it perfectly reflected his heart.

Chen Changsheng walked through Hongyuan Tianxia. The further south he went, the more demons he encountered.

He ran into quite a few demons blocking his path. Seeing that he was human, they all seemed eager to snatch him up and eat him.

But in the end, they all fled with their tails between their legs.

Chen Changsheng was an easygoing man. Generally, he rarely killed these demons. The reason was quite simple: he was the intruder here, and these demons were the current masters of this realm. Whether they had snatched the land or acquired it by other means, that fact remained unchanged.

As he encountered more demons, word of his presence slowly began to spread.

"There's a human coming this way. He's incredibly fierce! He beat back thirty-seven demons in a row, and he's heading right for us."

"A human?"

"He's got a lot of nerve! Does he have a death wish?!"

"Our Hongyuan Tianxia doesn't welcome humans."

"Hey!"

An abrupt voice called out.

A little girl in a red dress was standing behind them. None of them had noticed her arrive.

Seeing her, the group of demons immediately tried to scatter.

Yu Hongjin was quick. She snatched one of them.

"Why are you running?"

"G-greetings, Fish Demon. This lowly one wasn't speaking ill of you behind your back, Great King!"

Yu Hongjin slapped the back of his head. "Look at you, so worthless. You call yourself a demon with guts like that?"

The monkey demon looked ready to cry. "Fish Demon King, why do you grab me every time? Aren't the others doing the exact same thing?"

"I just don't like the look of you. Is that a problem?"

Yu Hongjin snorted, then asked, "What were you all gossiping about just now? Who is coming?"

Seeing no way out, the monkey demon told Yu Hongjin everything he knew in detail.

After listening, Yu Hongjin decided not to give him a hard time. She let go and said, "Run along and play."

"Thank you, Demon King. Thank you, Demon King!"

The monkey demon thanked her and instantly scrambled away.

Yu Hongjin fell into thought. What kind of person is bold enough to come here all alone...?

Honestly, this place was incredibly boring.

Perhaps because she was so used to her days in the Market Town and the Mortal World, Yu Hongjin couldn't quite adapt to staying here. Now that she heard someone was coming, her interest was naturally piqued.

"Why not go take a look?"

Having made up her mind, Yu Hongjin grabbed a few more nearby demons to gather information.

"Which direction is he coming from?"

"Th-that man... that man..."

"Why are you stuttering? Spit it out."

"That man is already here."

"Huh?"

The little demon dangling from Yu Hongjin's grip pointed in a direction.

"Right over there."

Yu Hongjin followed its gaze and saw a figure walking down the road not far away.

The man wore a green robe and was cradling a Wine Gourd, taking sips as he walked. His face was slightly flushed, looking as though he had drunk quite a bit.

Yu Hongjin froze for a moment.

She didn't even need a full look to recognize him instantly.

"Chen Changsheng!!"

Yu Hongjin shouted.

Chen Changsheng, who was shaking out his Wine Gourd, lifted his head and looked over.

He saw a little girl in red standing on the hilltop, staring down at him while holding a rabbit spirit by the scruff of its neck.

Chen Changsheng paused in surprise. "Hong Jin?"

...

The ponds in Oulianfang had bloomed with a wealth of lotuses this year.

Lotus leaves and blossoms blanketed the water as far as the eye could see. The beautiful scenery naturally soothed the heart, inviting one to simply sit and admire the view.

Yu Hongjin brought out good wine to entertain Chen Changsheng.

The adult and the child sat together by the edge of the lotus pond, drinking and chatting idly.

Curious as to why he had come all this way, Yu Hongjin asked him about it.

Chen Changsheng explained his reasons.

Curious in turn, he asked, "Along my way here, every place I passed had been chewed clean by locusts, yet Oulianfang is completely unharmed."

"Ah, the locust plague," Yu Hongjin said. "That was indeed a fierce disaster a while back. They passed through my area too, but I drove them off."

Her qi destiny had many wondrous uses.

Yu Hongjin only had to release a bit of bad luck, and the locusts didn't dare provoke this place.

"Besides, this is my natal territory. How could I let a bunch of bugs eat it?"

Yu Hongjin snorted and took a large gulp of wine.

Chen Changsheng smiled. "Impressive. This Chen admires you."

"Right?"

Yu Hongjin smiled smugly.

Chen Changsheng then asked, "You've been staying in the Southern Domain all these years. Do those demons ever make trouble for you?"

Yu Hongjin shook her head. "Not really. We stay out of each other's way. I just guard my own little plot of land, and they don't want to get involved with me either. It's been pretty good."

"That's good."

Chen Changsheng added, "Speaking of which, when This Chen went to Shangjing, Lihua missed you very much. It said that if it ever saw you again, it would definitely take a bite out of you."

"That stinky cat!"

Yu Hongjin cursed, then added, "Let it come and try! Times have changed; I'm not afraid of it anymore."

Chen Changsheng gave a warm smile and didn't press the matter.

Yu Hongjin tilted her head back for a drink. She glanced at the red sun on the horizon and murmured, "How long has it been since we last saw each other?"

Chen Changsheng paused. He searched his memory, but eventually shook his head. "I can't remember clearly."

"Oh..."

Yu Hongjin went back to her wine.

Chen Changsheng then brought up Xuanji.

"How tall is she now?"

"About up to This Chen's shoulder."

"That tall, huh..."

Yu Hongjin smacked her lips. "Back then, she wasn't even as tall as me. The days really do pass faster and faster. It's so boring."

"Even Ruyi is gone..."

Yu Hongjin mumbled under her breath. She lowered her head, feeling that this Mortal World was becoming increasingly meaningless.

The people she once knew now lived only in memories.

Chen Changsheng didn't reply to that, merely saying, "Let's drink."

"Yeah."

The two of them got thoroughly, blindly drunk by the edge of the lotus pond.

Yu Hongjin lay on the bank and fell fast asleep. Who knew what she was dreaming about, but she drooled all over the ground.

Chen Changsheng was peacefully drunk, as if he had merely lain down for a nap.

Yu Hongjin had changed.

Mister Chen had changed too.

Neither of them was like how they used to be. They no longer babbled nonsense when drunk.
