Immortal Travel of Longevity

Chapter 1488: Deeply Respectful

When he returned once more, Chenghuang was still there. He had brought out a chair for Mister early on, knowing that Mister had recently taken a liking to sitting, especially on rainy days—even if he didn't understand what was so appealing about the rain.

Perhaps it was simply quieter.

It was also during this return that Chen Changsheng heard a bit of good news.

Over in the Demon Domain behind the snow mountain, a formidable fox demon had emerged from the Yuanshan Fox Clan. In just a few short years, he had already crossed several mountain peaks and beaten down numerous Great Demons.

It was a good omen. Hopefully, Yuanshan would also reclaim its former glory.

For this reason, Chen Changsheng made a special trip to Yuanshan to take a look.

The inner demon had already transformed into a Daoist priest. According to him, his Daoist title was the Heaven-Turning Priest. It was a rather exaggerated name, yet it was exactly what he was doing now.

"Which one is it?" Chen Changsheng asked, inquiring about the suddenly rising fox demon.

The inner demon simply pointed.

Chen Changsheng inexplicably found him somewhat familiar.

For a moment, he couldn't help but stare in a daze.

Similar!

Far too similar!

That demeanor and that face were truly identical to Su Junhan back in the day. But undeniably, he was not Su Junhan, nor was he the next life.

This youth carried the shadow of the Fox Lord.

From the looks of it, the fox clan truly was showing signs of great prosperity.

The inner demon said, "In a few years, the fox clan will undoubtedly be able to return to Yuanshan and restore things to how they were."

Chen Changsheng nodded, inexplicably filled with a myriad of emotions.

He approached the youth who was practicing his cultivation.

He didn't interrupt, choosing instead to sit quietly by the lake and fish.

According to the inner demon, this fox demon was named Su Jie. He was the best seedling the fox clan had right now, and his talent was remarkable.

Had that not been the case, he wouldn't have advanced by leaps and bounds in such a short amount of time.

When Su Jie woke, however, he noticed the figure sitting by the shore.

He frowned slightly, somewhat surprised. Flipping to his feet, he arrived beside the man in the blink of an eye.

"A human?"

Chen Changsheng held his fishing rod and said, "The Priest isn't here. Today, This Chen will take his place and teach you a few things."

Su Jie was taken aback. "You're a friend of the Priest?"

"Yes."

Chen Changsheng nodded. "My surname is Chen. You can just call me Mister Chen."

Su Jie thought about it, though he didn't lower his guard.

"Where did the Priest go?"

"He went to rest."

Chen Changsheng smiled, offering no further explanation.

After a moment of thought, Su Jie sat down and asked, "Then what will Mister Chen teach me today?"

Chen Changsheng pointed to the fishing rod in his hands.

"Fishing?"

"Correct."

"But..."

Su Jie pursed his lips and said, "Mister, there are no fish in this lake. It has always been this way, from the very beginning. You won't be able to catch any fish."

Chen Changsheng said, "What I am going to teach you is precisely how to catch fish from this very lake."

Hearing this, Su Jie frowned in confusion. "How can you fish when there are no fish..."

However, mid-sentence, his voice came to an abrupt halt.

Because Chen Changsheng had already lifted his rod, and dangling from the end of the fishing line was a fish.

Su Jie stood up, staring blankly at the scene.

Unable to believe it, he jumped into the water with a splash. He searched everywhere, but there wasn't a single shadow of a fish to be found.

"Phew..."

He emerged from the water and looked at the man on the shore, asking, "Mister, there clearly aren't any fish in the water. How did Mister manage to catch one?"

Sitting on the bank, Chen Changsheng smiled and asked, "Do you want to learn?"

"What kind of skill is this?"

"The skill of petitioning heaven and earth."

Su Jie had never seen such an ability before. The first time might have been a trick prepared in advance, but soon after, this Mister caught yet another fish.

The fish seemed to appear entirely out of thin air.

It was truly incomprehensible.

For the following period of time, he cultivated under this Mister Chen who had appeared out of nowhere.

This Mister Chen had many principles to share, mostly concerning heaven and earth. It was incredibly difficult to grasp. Although Su Jie had excellent comprehension, he couldn't just instantly understand such obscure concepts.

He put a great deal of effort into it, constantly pondering over the teachings, and his original cultivation eventually turned into sitting on the bank and fishing every day.

He frequently glanced up at the sky, and gradually, it seemed as if he was beginning to understand some of the things Chen Changsheng spoke of.

It was the Great Dao!

A few days later, Chen Changsheng reeled in his fishing rod and said, "Kid Su, I am leaving."

Su Jie was taken aback. "Mister is leaving already? But I still haven't learned Mister's skill."

Chen Changsheng smiled and said, "You will learn it sooner or later. This is an opportunity that is very difficult to grasp, much like drifting smoke. If you want to catch it, you'll need to ponder it more."

Su Jie didn't understand Mister's words, but he had no chance to ask further.

This Mister Chen had truly departed without a sound.

Su Jie felt deeply troubled. He found that trying to catch fish from this lake was simply too difficult.

Later, the Priest returned.

"Where did the Priest meet Mister Chen?"

The inner demon asked, "What about it?"

Su Jie said, "That Mister Chen is incredibly powerful. I can't seem to learn his skill. It's very, very difficult."

"What did he teach you?"

"Mister Chen taught me how to catch fish from this lake."

Hearing this, the inner demon was taken aback. "What is that supposed to mean?"

Su Jie said, "But Priest, from the very beginning, there hasn't been a single fish in this lake."

"Hmm?"

Hearing this, the inner demon snapped back to his senses.

Su Jie said, "Yet, Mister Chen was able to catch them. I don't know where the fish came from, and it wasn't an Illusory Veil either—they were real fish, as if they had appeared out of thin air."

The inner demon remained in a daze for a long while.

It was a long time before he finally snapped back to reality.

A sudden shock of realization hit him.

His gaze couldn't help but fall upon Su Jie once more.

The inner demon let out a breath. Patting him on the shoulder, he said, "Study it well. That Mister's abilities are far from ordinary. If you can truly manage to master it, just this single skill of catching a fish will be enough for you to establish a foothold in this world. And I am not talking about this tiny Demon Domain, but the entire world!"

Su Jie froze in place. He had never imagined that something as simple as fishing could involve such a formidable ability.

The inner demon secretly shook his head. He couldn't help but think that this kid from the fox clan truly had incredible luck. Such an ability—who else in the world could know it, and who else could possibly learn it?

Having a connection truly made all the difference.

The inner demon said, "In the future, you will definitely lead the fox clan back to how it was back then."

Su Jie looked confused. "Priest, what was our fox clan like back then?"

"What was it like..."

The inner demon said, "Back then, when your Fox Lord walked this world, even those highly respected old monsters had to obediently address him as Fox Lord."
