«Chapter 608: Devil Qi Turns into Shadow

The shadow molded from Devil Qi passed through the Sword Qi. Just as its head seemed about to scatter under the Golden Light, it suddenly retreated and split apart.
The Golden Light struck nothing.
Chen Changsheng’s heart tightened at the sight. He swiftly drew his sword back.
“Retreat!”
The Demon Sword seized a fleeting opening, forcing forward until its tip pressed against Chen Changsheng’s neck.
In moments, he almost crashed into a mountain ridge.
He spun aside as the Demon Sword stabbed the mountain instead.
“Boom…”
Rocks showered down as a large gash appeared in the desolate peak, like a heart torn out.
After a brief pause, the whole mountain crumbled under its own weight, one strike nearly leveling it flat.
Though it merely stabbed and flicked out casually, even brushing against such power meant not escaping unscathed.
Chen Changsheng shifted his own blade, seizing his chance.
One last Golden Light Inscription blazed out.
“Formation complete! Seal the demon!”
Sword pointed forth.
Dozens of Inscriptions sped towards the Demon Sword.
A Formation Array encircled it entirely, currents of glowing patterns swirling with crushing force.
Unshaken, the Demon Sword slashed the array in testing—but failed to breach it.
“Tighten!”
As the Formation Array squeezed inward…
The Devil Qi dimmed, pushed back into the sword itself.
Chen Changsheng guided the Formation while swordsmanship flickered around him—then sudden alarm struck.
“Hmmmm…”
A resonant tremor quaked the air.
The Formation Array abruptly rocked wildly. A shattering crack echoed right beside his ear.
“Crack.”
One Inscription instantly fractured.
“KABOOM!”
A sword beam surged from the array’s core, ripping through it in a Devil Qi-fueled eruption.
Shattering Formation swept out, smashing dozens of surrounding mountains.
The churning ash eclipsed the sky like a dark cloud blocking the sun, hiding the Blood Moon entirely. Everything plunged to gloom.
Chen Changsheng paused mid-air… then raised his sword.
Tip pointed over his head.
His hair streamed, shimmering to threads of Golden Light.
“Hear my decree, Immortals attend!”
“Announce!”
Golden Light pooled in Chen Changsheng’s eyes.
“Celestial Immortals above!”
As his words fell, trails of Golden Light streaked down like stardust, landing before him.
They took human forms, bathed in golden divine aura, gripping weapons and Magical Artifacts.
Within a breath, dozens of Immortals stood present.
The Demon Sword paused briefly, yet fear never touched it.
“Boom!”
Devil Qi erupted violently.
Under Chen Changsheng’s keen gaze, the miasma formed devilish figures mimicking each Immortal.
The Immortals collectively frowned at the sight, silently awed by the Demon Sword’s power.
“Destroy this Demon Sword!”
A fiery Spear cut the air as Nezha rode it straight down.
The other Immortals followed, clashing against their demonic duplicates in tangled combat.
Chen Changsheng narrowed his eyes. ‘A single Demon Sword with this much skill…’
He and the Demon Sword stood apart as a battlefield exploded between them.
There, Nezha and the Immortals fought their copies fiercely…
Yet the Devil Qi clones gave no quarter. Gradually, they began pressing the attack.
‘Even this capable…’
Chen Changsheng’s lip lifted. He’d clearly underestimated the sword.
He wondered: If one sword contained such power, how formidable must its master, Summoning Demon Divine Monarch, have been?
The fight ahead grew chaotic.
After moments passed, Golden Light and Devil Qi both dissipated.
Streams of Sword Qi returned to Chen Changsheng’s blade.
The Devil Qi retracted wholly into the Demon Sword once more.
Neither gained ground.
Chen Changsheng lunged, sword clashing against the Demon Sword again and again.
Their strikes shook the entire Demon Realm.
Mountains upon mountains shattered around their duel—leveled flat or split straight down by glancing blows.
Chen Changsheng first pressured the Demon Sword back.
But with each pass, dread pricked him deeper.
“He’s copying me!”
Chen Changsheng realized it: the Demon Sword mirrored his moves exactly, even absorbing their essence in spots.
Soon, fighting felt like dueling his own reflection.
The absurd sensation gripped his thoughts.
Truly, this Demon Sword was unnatural!
Chen Changsheng broke with one wide slash, retreating hundreds of paces backwards.
“I shall see just how much you learn!”
Raising his sword suddenly, Sword Intent spread out.
A feeling of solitude followed.
The Sword Intent rose and covered the area, as if trying to encompass all Heaven and Earth.
The figure clutching the Demon Sword glanced upward before charging sword in hand.
This movement made Chen Changsheng’s heart skip a beat.
Why did it look up?
A mere shadow need not lift its head.
But right now, there was no time for him to ponder this.
“Dreamlike Decree.”
The sword cut like an elusive, fleeting dream.
Sword Qi cascaded like a heavy downpour, tearing through Devil Qi and destroying it.
Yet at that very instant—
An immense Sword Intent abruptly surged forth.
It resembled slaughter forged in a sea of blood, carrying endless cries of death, as innumerable bones and mutilated flesh materialized before the eyes.
Chen Changsheng froze.
Sword Intent…
How could a Demon Sword possess Sword Intent?
When Chen Changsheng looked again at the figure, his gaze had completely changed.
Was this truly just a phantom formed from Devil Qi?
The figure gripped the Demon Sword and swung it once.
Sword Qi mingled with Devil Qi clashed against the swords’ downpour.
The scene resembled a sudden drizzle falling upon a still lake surface.
Ripples radiated across midair, spreading endlessly.
“BOOM!”
The Sword Qi collided.
Clashing energies erupted from the opposing blades.
Battered by this shockwave, Chen Changsheng staggered back over a hundred paces.
The Devil Qi phantom also staggered, its smoky form torn apart, the Demon Sword almost knocked from its grasp.
As the tremors gradually faded—
Chen Changsheng steadied himself and peered through the swirling dust. The lifted haze blotted out the Crimson Moon, plunging the world into darkness.
He took a deep breath, eyes piercing the haze to fix on the figure clutching the Demon Sword.
“You’re alive,” Chen Changsheng said.
The shadow clutching the Demon Sword did not answer. After readjusting its posture, it turned to stare into the distance.
Chen Changsheng’s brow furrowed as foreboding gripped him.
“Trickle, splash…”
Suddenly, the sound of flowing water reached Chen Changsheng’s ears.
He looked toward the settling dust. Within the descending haze, he saw the Blood Sea churning skyward—drawn toward the Demon Sword.
Chen Changsheng’s expression hardened.
All the Resentment Energy and Baleful Aura from the Blood Sea converged upon the Demon Sword.
In moments, the sword’s power surged wildly. Crushing pressure flooded out, pressing toward Chen Changsheng.
This place, after all—belonged to that being!
