The Little Beggar scratched his waist. "Brother Shangguan, you've really got some guts."

Shangguan Ningjing smiled. "You came too, didn't you?"

The Little Beggar chuckled. "Me? I'm just here for the fun."

Tu Hu glared at the group. "So noisy."

The Little Beggar pointed a finger at him and cursed. "I'm talking! What's it to you? You think you're a big shot just because you're a demon?"

At this moment, the Little Beggar was incomparably arrogant, seemingly looking down on everyone present.

"Don't be in such a rush," the Little Beggar said.

He shifted his gaze to Zhu Wuneng before letting it rest on the Deer Demon. "None of you three need to rush. I've got plenty of time to play with you!"

Lu Qishan frowned and took a step forward. "Who are you?"

Lu Qishan scoffed coldly. "I hope you can still say that in a little while."

"I'm your grandfather."

"I'm your grandfather, I'm your grandfather."

The Little Beggar kept repeating it. He looked at Lu Qishan and sneered, "What? You don't dare touch me now? Then I'll keep saying it."

Lu Qishan's eyebrows twitched, anger rising within her.

"A stray dog without a home."

The Little Beggar said coldly.

Lu Qishan calmed down. She couldn't quite get a read on this Little Beggar, but there was no denying he knew something. Or rather, he might have come here specifically for them.

Zhu Wuneng laughed loudly. "Hahaha! Lu Qishan, if you don't cut this kid's tongue out, even I'm going to look down on you."

"Shut up!" Lu Qishan snapped.

The Little Beggar turned to Zhu Wuneng. "And you, you damn fat pig! When your grandfather is talking, is it your turn to interrupt?"

Zhu Wuneng froze, fury exploding in an instant. "What did you say?!"

Tu Hu frowned. "Plague Pig, this kid has something backing him."

Zhu Wuneng snorted angrily. "Since when are you so kind?"

Tu Hu looked at the Little Beggar. "You serve under the one surnamed Feng, don't you?"

The Little Beggar frowned. "Who's that?"

Tu Hu scoffed softly. "True, he's changed his title by now. He should be called the buddha child."

The Little Beggar blinked. "What's a buddha child?"

Tu Hu looked calmly at the Little Beggar and didn't press the matter further.

He had already made up his mind—this Little Beggar was absolutely connected to the man surnamed Feng.

When Tu Hu remained silent, the Little Beggar pressed, "Hey, say something."

Long Rong spoke up then, scanning the group.

"Enough."

She looked at their surroundings. "It seems someone still hasn't arrived."

The Little Beggar paused, following her gaze into the distance. "There are more?"

...

"These demons are not simple at all," Mo Yuan remarked. "Neither are that Little Beggar and the martial artist."

Ruyi asked, "If those two sisters count as one share, doesn't that mean, out of the nine sticks of incense, they are still short one person?"

"Far from it," Mo Yuan said.

He looked off into the distance. "There are still quite a few more coming."

Chen Changsheng remained silent, his gaze fixed on the platform.

There were quite a few familiar faces.

Noticing Mister's expression, Mo Yuan asked, "Did Mister spot another acquaintance?"

Chen Changsheng snapped back to reality. "I wouldn't call us well-acquainted. I just crossed paths with them once when I made a trip to the spirit cage."

"Oh..."

Mo Yuan nodded and asked, "What did Mister see in the spirit cage back then?"

Chen Changsheng hesitated. "It's hard to say."

Indeed.

He couldn't quite put it into words. It was a chaotic mix; it seemed to contain a bit of everything.

There was too much to say, yet he had little desire to talk about it.

Mo Yuan asked, "Then which one does Mister recognize?"

"This Chen recognizes all of the foreign demons on that platform."

Perhaps it was fate that they would actually cross paths again in the Mortal World.

The spirit cage was destroyed, and yet they all survived.

In that case...

What about Qing Tianyou?

Did he survive as well?

Thinking about it, Chen Changsheng really wanted to see him again. He had promised to show him the sights of the Mortal World.

"Is that so," Mo Yuan muttered.

But the way he saw it, none of them seemed to be the virtuous sort.

Setting aside the wicked energy clinging to their bodies, just that lingering, bloody aura of violence was enough to prove their hands were stained with an unknown amount of slaughter.

Xue Ling spoke up. "If it's just the few of us, then we might as well just divide it up now. What are we waiting for?"

"We aren't the ones waiting for them," Long Rong sighed. "They are the ones waiting for us."

Just as her words trailed off...

A phoenix's cry rang out from the distant horizon.

All eyes turned to the silhouette of a phoenix, but upon closer inspection, something felt wrong. This so-called phoenix was wreathed in black energy, looking far from benevolent.

"Phoenix?"

Long Rong stared in shock.

Shangguan Ningjing was the most astonished of all. He murmured to himself, "There really are phoenixes in this world..."

The Little Beggar furrowed his brow. "What a wicked phoenix."

As the phoenix drew closer...

Everyone finally saw two streaks of azure light trailing hot on its heels.

"There's nowhere to run!"

Accompanied by a distinct roar, the silhouette of a qilin revealed itself to the crowd.

And beside that qilin stood a ghost cultivator wielding a sword. He possessed a face so strikingly handsome it bordered on feminine.

Down by the lake shore, Lihua suddenly sprang up.

"Mo Yu! It's Mo Yu!!"

"Mo Yu!"

"Lihua is here!"

Lihua bounced up and down.

Ruyi was startled by Lihua's sudden shouts.

"Mo Yu?"

Seeing the Moyu Qilin, Chen Changsheng remarked, "It seems he's mostly recovered."

Mo Yuan chimed in, "Is this the one Mao'er mentioned? A primordial beast, a qilin?"

Ping'an stared in wide-eyed awe. "What is that...?"

A qilin?

A real qilin!

This truly was...

An eye-opening sight!

High above, the qilin swiped a massive claw toward the Evil Phoenix.

The Evil Phoenix summoned a wave of sinister fire, blasting it at the qilin.

The qilin scoffed, raising a limb and instantly snuffing out the flames.

Jian Shenghua caught the shouts coming from the shore and cast a glance downward.

He froze, never expecting to run into Mister Chen in a place like this.

Mo Yu realized it too.

"Lihua?"

Lihua's eyes lit up with joy, but then its expression shifted drastically. "Mo Yu, watch out!"

Mo Yu snapped back to the fight just in time to see the Evil Phoenix diving straight at him. Its wings whipped up a storm of fiery light, brimming with murderous intent.

Jian Shenghua raised his hand and struck with his sword.

"Flowers bloom and fall, people remain as of old."

The single strike birthed flowers, conjuring what looked like an entire sea of blossoms.

The surrounding mountains trembled in resonance, the forests rustling wildly.

The floral sea crashed into the sinister fire, completely smothering it.

Seeing this, the Evil Phoenix was forced to retreat.

Its gaze locked onto the Ritual Cauldron atop the pavilion.

"Damn it!"

It let out a curse before plunging into a steep dive.

Its eyes were entirely fixed on the burning incense.

As long as it could completely consume that incense, it would have a chance to harness this human dao qi fortune and rebuild its true body.

Long Rong frowned at the sight and shouted, "Fall back!"

"Another wicked creature," the Little Beggar muttered.

While everyone else was retreating, he took a step forward.

He raised his hand and began chanting scriptures.
