"Your Highness?"

Chen Changsheng looked at the woman before him. He paused, then raised a hand and performed a quick divination.

He froze, momentarily in disbelief.

The disfigured woman looked at her unfamiliar surroundings. A sudden fear gripped her, and her eyes darted around as if she wanted to flee.

Chen Changsheng collected himself and said, "There is no prince here. This Chen only saved you by coincidence."

Hong Luan looked at the Mister in the green shirt before her. She didn't quite understand what had happened, but as she sensed her own condition, the memories rushed back in a haze.

"I'm dead..."

"That's right, I died..."

Hong Luan had long known she was dead, and she knew she had been trapped in a state of madness for what felt like an eternity.

Chen Changsheng summoned a cup of tea and gestured for her to sit.

As the memories slowly returned, Hong Luan calmed down. Without knowing the intentions of the man before her, she didn't plan on fleeing just yet. In her current state, she probably wouldn't be able to run anyway.

So she sat down and asked, "Can you tell me how you brought me back to my senses?"

Chen Changsheng took a sip of tea and said, "Your Three Souls and Seven Spirits were in utter disarray. Driven by resentment, they were fighting among themselves. It wasn't difficult to resolve; I simply untangled them."

For someone with a powerful divine sense like Chen Changsheng, resolving such a matter was effortless.

Understanding dawned on Hong Luan. She pursed her lips and said, "Thank you, sir."

Chen Changsheng replied, "You don't need to thank me. If I hadn't decided to test this box on a whim, you wouldn't have survived until now."

Hong Luan paused, her gaze immediately falling upon the Glazed Box.

She pursed her lips, looked back at Chen Changsheng, and asked, "And what do you intend to do now? Scatter my soul, or something else?"

Chen Changsheng shook his head. "I didn't think much of it at first, but now I have some questions for you."

Hong Luan said, "Please, ask away."

"How did you die?" Chen Changsheng asked.

Hong Luan froze for a moment before explaining, "I was hacked to death by a flurry of blades. Then they ruined my face and threw me into the Mass Grave."

"Why would your killers destroy your face?"

"Because I am..."

Chen Changsheng finished the sentence for her. "Because you are the Princess Consort of Jin?"

Hong Luan was taken aback again. "You know?"

Chen Changsheng said, "The gold and silver threads on your clothes are not something an ordinary family could wear. Looking at the embroidered patterns, even the wives of high-ranking officials are forbidden from bearing such designs. It was safe to assume you were royalty, and a quick divination confirmed it."

Hong Luan lowered her head and remained silent.

Chen Changsheng said, "This Chen is somewhat puzzled. Who could be so bold? And for them to actually succeed... it's truly unbelievable."

Hong Luan pursed her lips. After hesitating for a moment, she suddenly spoke up, "Immortal Master, did you truly save me merely by coincidence?"

Chen Changsheng said, "Why would I lie to you?"

Hong Luan had no other options left. With hope standing right in front of her, she didn't want to simply shatter and fade.

She closed the distance in a few quick steps, arriving right before the Mister.

Then, she dropped to her knees.

Confused, Chen Changsheng asked, "What is the meaning of this?"

"Immortal Master, please save Prince Jin's household! Save the people of Great Xiang..."

Hong Luan kept her head bowed, her voice choked with tears.

Chen Changsheng sighed softly. "Don't panic just yet. First, tell me exactly what happened."

Hong Luan raised her head and said, "Immortal Master, I wasn't killed by assassins. The one who killed me was the current Prince Jin himself!"

Chen Changsheng froze slightly upon hearing this. He stood up and asked, "Why would Prince Jin kill you?"

Pursing her lips, Hong Luan said, "I discovered... I found out his secret. The current Prince Jin is no longer the Prince Jin he used to be."

Chen Changsheng paused, a sudden sense of foreboding washing over him.

"In my youth, I joined my mother in practicing Buddhism. We often chanted scriptures and studied the sutras. Later, I fell gravely ill. A monk arrived outside our manor and cured my illness. He also told me that I was destined to face a Tribulation. That Master tapped his finger between my brows, and from then on, I could see ghosts, spirits, and demons that ordinary people cannot..."

"According to that Master, if I wanted to survive the Tribulation, I had to stop whatever was unfolding before my eyes. For years, I kept those words engraved in my heart. As I grew older and eventually married, I never encountered anything bizarre."

"Until one day, someone presented a Glazed Box as a gift."

Hearing this, Chen Changsheng said, "Could it be this very box?"

Hong Luan nodded. "It is exactly this one."

She continued her story.

The hall was filled with guests that day for Prince Jin's birthday banquet. Countless gifts were received, but the moment the Glazed Box was brought out, it outshone them all.

Prince Jin couldn't stop praising it. After the banquet ended, he brought the box to Hong Luan, saying it was stunningly beautiful and would make the perfect jewelry box for her.

So, Prince Jin opened the box to show it to her.

Unexpectedly, in Hong Luan's eyes, a mass of black mist suddenly burst from the box and instantly darted up Prince Jin's nose.

Hong Luan jumped in fright at the sight and cried out.

By the time she recovered her wits, Prince Jin had merely sneezed, looking as though nothing was wrong.

But Hong Luan had spent a long time by the Prince's side, and the slightest change was enough for her to notice the difference. The look in his eyes had changed; he seemed as if he were no longer the Prince.

"At first, I wasn't entirely sure and didn't dare say anything, thinking he was merely under some evil influence. But in the days that followed, the Prince's behavior changed drastically. Only then did panic set in. I consulted many ancient texts and sought advice from various experts, leading to a creeping suspicion in my heart: the Prince had suffered a body seizure at the hands of an evil spirit."

Even now, recalling the events sent a shiver of fear through Hong Luan.

"But as luck would have it, he stumbled upon the ancient texts I had been researching. Suspicious, he bluffed me that night, and in my sudden panic, I exposed myself."

"He tried to strangle me, but a burst of golden light suddenly flashed from my eyes and knocked him back. That gave me the chance to break free, and I fled the Prince's Manor that very night."

"But how far could a weak woman like me run? It wasn't long before they caught up. I recognized them—they were the Shadow Guards of the Prince of Jin's Manor. Despite my status as their Princess Consort, they showed absolutely no mercy. After killing me, they slashed my face and tossed me into the Mass Grave."

"Refusing to accept my fate, I didn't follow the underworld deputies into Reincarnation. Instead, I went to beg the City God Lord. The City God Lord investigated the matter personally, but when he returned, he bluntly accused me of speaking nonsense. No matter how I explained, no one believed me. Left with no choice, I transformed into a malicious ghost, injured the underworld deputies, and escaped the Netherworld Bureau. I had to find another way; I couldn't just let that evil spirit get away with its crimes."

Hong Luan kept her head bowed as she recounted the ordeal.

"But in the end, I am only a spirit..."
