Immortal Travel of Longevity

Chapter 909: Simply Unfounded Nonsense

After finishing his meal, Chen Changsheng called for Gu Jiangshi and used a spell to suppress the yin and malefic energies radiating from his body.

When Lihua saw Gu Jiangshi again, the towering figure had lost that wicked aura, making him much easier on the eyes—or at least, not quite as weird.

Perhaps because he had been so groggy earlier, Gu Jiangshi hadn't noticed. But now, looking at Mao'er, he couldn't shake a sense of familiarity. Because of this, he kept stealing glances at Lihua.

Lihua sensed the big fellow's gaze but paid it no mind, immediately trotting off to bicker with Yu Hongjin.

Meanwhile, Chen Changsheng left the house. The matter of Quanshan still needed a resolution.

It was worth noting that after Quanshan suffered this Tribulation, the majority of the disciples hadn't dared to return to the mountain. This was also on the elders' orders; Quanshan was temporarily unsafe, and they were better off staying away.

At the very least, they had to wait for the storm to blow over.

Right now, only three of Quanshan's elders and a few dozen disciples remained to stand guard on the mountain. The other several hundred disciples were hiding elsewhere.

"Senior Brother Sanyuan, the sect master has passed, and who knows when that man might come knocking on our mountain again. We need to decide whether to stay or leave as soon as possible."

If Quanshan lost its mountain gate, he feared they would have no place left to stand in the world.

But what if they didn't leave?

They didn't dare take that risk either. No one could guess the Immortal Master's intentions. If he did come looking for them again, they absolutely wouldn't be a match for him. They would likely end up just like the sect master, unable to escape death.

"Sigh..."

Daoist Sanyuan's emotions were a tangled mess. They were truly caught in a dilemma.

Just as he was thinking this, a voice suddenly rang out.

"Elders!!"

"Elders!"

Another disciple came running over, stumbling and scrambling all the way into the hall.

"What is the meaning of this panic?!" another elder reprimanded, looking displeased.

The disciple swallowed hard, his voice frantic. "Elders, that man... that man has come again!"

"What!"

The three elders instantly shot to their feet in shock.

The disciples in the Main Hall were also startled.

He really had come back!

Had that man not killed enough to satisfy himself? Was his anger still not quelled?!

Thoughts of retreat sprouted in some of the disciples' minds. They lowered their heads, contemplating how to escape as quickly as possible.

Seeing the varied expressions of the crowd, Daoist Sanyuan's brow twitched. Forcing himself to calm down, he said, "Don't panic! We still have a chance. There's still a chance..."

He looked at the other two elders. "Junior Brothers, shall we go together?"

The expressions of the other two elders shifted. Naturally, they didn't want to go—this was a matter of life and death.

Elder Sanyuan lowered his voice. "We have to go whether we want to or not. If he insists on killing, do you really think we can escape?"

The other two fell silent upon hearing this, ultimately letting out long sighs.

"Let's go, Senior Brother Sanyuan."

The three elders headed down the mountain to welcome him.

At this moment, Chen Changsheng had already reached halfway up the mountain.

It was worth mentioning that yesterday's Heavenly Tribulation had indeed destroyed much of Quanshan's flora. But now, there was no filthy aura lingering here either. Though it lacked spiritual vitality, it had truly become clean.

After walking for a while, Chen Changsheng saw three people approaching.

He recognized one of them from yesterday. It seemed to be the Daoist named Sanyuan.

"And the three of you are..." Chen Changsheng trailed off.

The three elders cupped their hands in a salute. Daoist Sanyuan then stepped forward and said, "The three of us are Quanshan elders. Since the Immortal Master is ascending the mountain, it is only proper that we come down to welcome you."

Chen Changsheng stared blankly for a moment, then chuckled. "Then please, show This Chen your Quanshan."

The three elders all felt quite humiliated, but they didn't dare make a sound. They could only endure it.

This was a man that even a corpse puppet couldn't harm.

If a fight broke out, slaughtering the entirety of Quanshan would be as easy as chopping vegetables for him.

Quanshan was quite large—at the very least, its mountain gate was larger than Qingxian Temple's, and it had more disciples. A significant reason for this was that Quanshan's criteria for accepting disciples was far too lax. This led to a mix of good and bad apples; the disciples' moral characters were all over the place, making them incredibly difficult to discipline.

Chen Changsheng walked in front, with the three elders trailing behind. For a long while, no one made a sound.

It was Chen Changsheng who first broke the silence. "During the Investiture of Immortals Assembly years ago, This Chen once had a brief encounter with your Quanshan's Daoist Wang. He was weak in power, yet dared to act. In the end, though he didn't manage to secure an orthodox status for Quanshan, he did make Quanshan known to the world. I wonder, is he still at Quanshan today?"

The several elders exchanged glances.

Seeing that his two junior brothers weren't speaking—and were even turning their heads away—Daoist Sanyuan's mouth twitched. Left with no choice, he could only bite the bullet and step forward.

"To answer the Immortal Master, Wang He has already been escorted to the Immortal Realm."

"Escorted?"

Chen Changsheng paused in his steps, his gaze turning to Daoist Sanyuan.

That gaze was far from friendly, causing even Daoist Sanyuan to shudder involuntarily.

Daoist Sanyuan slightly lowered his head. "That is correct. Wang He possessed extraordinary aptitude. Even though he didn't secure our orthodox status, he spread Quanshan's prestige. Later, he was recommended by the sect master, and emissaries from an immortal manor came to escort him to the Immortal Realm."

Chen Changsheng rubbed his chin, smiling. "Do you know who he left with?"

The three elders exchanged glances again, but none of them could provide a concrete answer.

Daoist Sanyuan replied, "To answer the Supreme Immortal, matters of escorting disciples have always been handled by the sect master. With the sect master deceased, we..."

Chen Changsheng glanced at the mountain stream. "Do you all believe that the power backing Quanshan is incredibly extraordinary? That it must be a great sect from an Immortal Mountain?"

The elders all thought exactly that.

It was largely because of this very reason that they had the courage to bring the disciples back here.

The three elders remained silent.

Then they heard Chen Changsheng say, "What if This Chen told you that the ones backing your sect master were demonic cultivators?"

"Impossible!"

Daoist Sanyuan stepped forward, frowning slightly. "Our Quanshan was defeated by your hands, and we accept that the victor becomes king, the loser becomes bandit. But why must you insult our Quanshan's reputation like this? Yes, the methods our Quanshan practices involve manipulating corpse puppets, which might seem somewhat demonic to outsiders, but that doesn't mean we Quanshan Cultivators are demonic cultivators! Since we are all cultivators, why must you slander our Quanshan in such a way?!"

He was getting agitated. He accepted their defeat, but he absolutely would not allow Quanshan's reputation to be slandered like this.

Demonic cultivators!

It was simply unfounded nonsense.

Chen Changsheng chuckled. "And if it's true?"

Daoist Sanyuan's fists clenched tightly beneath his sleeves. "Absolutely impossible!"

He had wanted to say more to defend Quanshan, but his junior brother beside him held him back, shaking his head. This was not the time to speak recklessly. If they mishandled this, they wouldn't be able to keep their lives, and the disciples of Quanshan wouldn't be able to keep theirs either. If that happened, Quanshan truly would be utterly destroyed.

Hearing this, Chen Changsheng smiled and nodded.

He didn't bother arguing with Daoist Sanyuan. There was no need to waste his breath on matters that couldn't be reasoned through.

Upon arriving at the temple, Quanshan disciples served tea. When bringing the tea over, their arms trembled slightly, and they nearly dropped the cups.

It wasn't exactly that they were terrified of Chen Changsheng himself, but rather that seeing him made them recall the purgatorial scene they had witnessed yesterday, causing their hearts to inevitably shudder with fear.
