Su Junhan had a keen eye for people; he rarely misjudged anyone.

The Buddhist light surrounding the young man was completely unobtrusive, clear evidence of a profound understanding of the path. Strangely enough, however, his current cultivation was lacking. It was as if no one had ever taught him.

He was like an infant holding a blade, completely unaware of what he wielded.

Had Mister Chen brought him along to foster his growth?

Could he be a disciple the Mister had recently taken in?

Su Junhan mused.

A moment later, Ning Bufan's voice pulled him from his thoughts.

Su Junhan gave a returning nod. Looking toward Mister Chen, he said, "Follow me into the mountain."

"Much obliged," Chen Changsheng said.

Security around the Demon Domain had tightened considerably, largely due to recent upheaval in the cultivation world. Fortunately, because the Demon Domain was situated within the Mortal World, it fell under the watchful eye of the Heavenly Dao, allowing them to escape the disaster for now. Still, precautions had to be taken. Most outsiders attempting to enter had recently been turned away, which was why Hu Jin had blocked their path earlier.

As they walked along a narrow mountain trail in Yuanshan, Su Junhan asked, "Has the Mister come this time for..."

He trailed off, leaving the question hanging.

It was likely because an outsider was present.

Chen Changsheng nodded. "This Chen felt I should come take a look, just in case."

Su Junhan gave a slight nod. "Then I will arrange a place for Young Friend Ning to rest first."

Ning Bufan obediently kept his mouth shut and asked no questions.

Sending him away meant they were discussing matters he had no right to hear.

He wasn't particularly interested in Chen Changsheng's business anyway. He was much happier to wander around Yuanshan and take in the scenery.

Once Ning Bufan had departed.

Su Junhan finally spoke. "I won't hide it from the Mister. The child's condition is not optimistic."

"How so?" Chen Changsheng asked.

Su Junhan paused for a moment before explaining. "As the Mister knows, when it comes to unions between humans and demons, the resulting offspring are always females of our Fox Clan. Their bestial nature overwhelms their human side, entirely extinguishing their humanity so they become full beasts. That is how they survive."

"But Miss Tao'er is completely different..."

"Her true form is a peach tree spirit. Although she entered the demon path, the fundamental nature of plant spirits is pure and gentle. Her power is robust, but rather than overwhelming the child's human side, it struck a perfect equilibrium with it. The two natures are perfectly balanced and impossible to separate. I consulted with the clan elders at length, but we still haven't found a single solution. All we could do was use a secret art to temporarily seal the child and halt her growth."

The current situation was like a perfect balance of yin and yang.

It was nearly impossible to break.

Yet demonic plant nature and human nature could not coexist within a single body. She would be neither human nor flora. If both remained, she would eventually twist into an abomination; even if she somehow survived, she would die a premature death.

One of the two natures had to be stripped away.

But their perfectly stabilized state left everyone utterly helpless.

"Let This Chen see the child first," Chen Changsheng said.

Su Junhan nodded. "With the Mister's help, there might still be hope for her."

He led Chen Changsheng into a cave abode.

This area was a blessed grotto belonging to the Fox Clan, brimming with rich spiritual energy. Placing her here served two purposes: to reinforce the seal, and to see if the ambient spiritual energy might shatter the equilibrium on its own. However, despite all the time that had passed, nothing had changed.

The cave abode had long been sealed completely shut. This was primarily for the child's safety, but also to prevent rumors from leaking out. If word that a human and a demon had successfully produced offspring ever reached the outside world, Yuanshan would face immense trouble.

Such a birth inherently defied heavenly principles.

Su Junhan utilized his divine abilities, causing the cave abode to tremble before a stone door revealed itself.

They ventured inside and walked for several hundred paces.

Only then did Chen Changsheng finally see the swaddled infant.

The infant rested upon a lotus flower base, surrounded by four binding chains that maintained the seal.

Looking closely, the child still breathed, though at an agonizingly slow pace.

No secret art in the world was capable of completely halting a person's growth, but drastically slowing it down was possible. Under the current seal, thirty years of passing time would age the child by only a single day.

"A girl," Chen Changsheng noted. He then asked, "Did Young Tong give her a name? How long has she been sealed here?"

Su Junhan replied, "She was given the name Nianyi and took Daoist Physician Tong's surname. She has been sealed here for three years now."

"Tong Nianyi..." Chen Changsheng murmured softly, his gaze resting on the faintly breathing infant.

"Where did the couple go?" he asked.

"Physician Tong and Miss Tao'er have been constantly traveling the cultivation world, desperately searching for a way to save their child," Su Junhan explained. "They return occasionally, but they never stay for long. It's been like this for over two years now."

Chen Changsheng leapt up lightly, landing beside the child.

The infant was so young that her eyes hadn't even fully opened yet. She looked exactly like a newborn, making it difficult to discern much from her appearance alone.

Chen Changsheng raised a hand to gently probe her condition.

It was exactly as Su Junhan had described. Two distinct streams of consciousness were deeply entangled within the child's sea of consciousness, and her soul was in an incredibly precarious state.

Frankly, it was a miracle that the child had even been born alive.

Su Junhan sighed. "We have Daoist Physician Tong's mastery of medicine to thank. Otherwise, she probably wouldn't have even survived the journey to Yuanshan."

Chen Changsheng shook his head. "The root of her condition lies within her sea of consciousness and her soul. Saving her will be truly difficult..."

Su Junhan nodded. He understood this better than anyone. Between the extensive records left behind by their ancestors and the combined wisdom of the clan elders, it was abundantly clear that this crisis could not be resolved with any known secret arts.

"Does the Mister have any ideas?" Su Junhan asked.

Chen Changsheng shook his head and let out a soft sigh. "Not at the moment."

The two streams of consciousness were intertwined far too deeply. If he attempted to forcefully separate them, an infant this young simply wouldn't survive the strain. Furthermore, the child's soul fire was already incredibly feeble. A single misstep would instantly extinguish her life.

Su Junhan's expression grew solemn. "If even Mister Chen has no solution, then I am afraid this child really will..."

"Let This Chen think on it a bit more," Chen Changsheng replied.

Su Junhan nodded.

Within the seal, the child slowly opened her eyes. She stared blankly at the men before her, her gaze so pure and translucent that it warmed the heart.

Chen Changsheng offered her a gentle smile. It was a pity he couldn't stay by her side longer, but she was still bound by the seal and couldn't endure any external stimulation.

The two of them exited the sealed cave abode.

In a pavilion on Cloud Mountain, Chen Changsheng took a seat and fell deep into thought.

Su Junhan ordered his subordinates to serve tea.

Chen Changsheng pondered until his head ached. Given the current situation, any approach seemed doomed to fail.

"Please have some tea, Mister," Su Junhan offered.

Pulled from his thoughts, Chen Changsheng let out a long breath and took a sip of the tea.

Chen Changsheng finally spoke. "Right now, the child's greatest problem lies in the two warring consciousnesses within her sea of consciousness. The secondary issue is that her physical body is far too frail. If we can solve these two problems, there might still be a chance."
