Manyue asked for more details about Ning Bufan.

Chen Changsheng explained the situation to her in detail.

After hearing this, Manyue shook her head. "If we look at it that way, the Scripture of the Past is truly of little use."

Chen Changsheng nodded. "It appears so for now, but This Chen feels it might stir up significant trouble in the future."

Manyue thought for a moment and agreed this was highly possible.

But she added, "Unless the world falls into silent ruin, what could he possibly do?"

Chen Changsheng looked at Manyue, his gaze lingering.

Manyue also froze, looking back at him.

But then she shook her head.

Absolutely impossible.

"We are overthinking this," Chen Changsheng said.

"Mhm." Manyue nodded and said no more.

Chen Changsheng also fell silent. He rested in his chair for a moment, then fished out a piece of candied fruit and popped it into his mouth.

Seeing this, Manyue looked somewhat astonished. "Candied fruit?"

Chen Changsheng nodded. "Sweet and sour. It tastes quite good."

Manyue had likely never expected that this Mister would eat something like this, just like a child.

But then she remembered something.

"I recall that back in Qingshan City, that Miss Yun often gave you candied fruit."

"Ah, yes, she gave this to me."

Manyue asked, "Has she passed away as well?"

Chen Changsheng chewed his candied fruit and nodded silently.

Manyue sighed softly. "Since you practice Cultivation, you should distance yourself from the affairs of the Red Dust. With so many things tangling up your heart, how can you gain clear enlightenment, and how can you achieve the Great Dao?"

Chen Changsheng stared blankly for a moment. "I am human."

Hearing this, Manyue shook her head. "You must look toward the heavens. You should not view yourself as an ordinary cultivator, nor should you merely look toward becoming an immortal."

"Miss Manyue thinks that highly of This Chen?"

"Over countless ages, no one has been able to step onto the Way of the True Immortal again. Yet I have seen its shadow in you alone."

"By that logic, has Miss Manyue seen many people?"

Manyue stared intently at Chen Changsheng. "You seem to be deliberately avoiding the subject."

Chen Changsheng nodded. "This Chen simply believes he lacks the capability."

Manyue opened her mouth to speak, but finally said, "You underestimate yourself far too much."

Chen Changsheng shook his head. "Miss Manyue must be joking. This Chen knows he is different from an ordinary cultivator, but where do my abilities actually come from? Is it because my comprehension is extraordinary? I think not. I can agonize over a single Divine Ability or technique and make absolutely no progress. My comprehension is worlds apart from those of true geniuses. Then, is it because This Chen's qi destiny is unparalleled? But this qi destiny is entirely due to the heavens' favor. With a single edict, heaven and earth come to my aid. Can that truly be called This Chen's own power? If the heavens did not favor This Chen, what could I even do?"

This string of questions left Manyue utterly speechless.

For some unknown reason, Manyue always held very high expectations for Chen Changsheng.

Chen Changsheng also did not understand why, though it was likely because Yu Xuan had mentioned certain things to Manyue in the past.

Perhaps his current image vastly contradicted what she had expected.

Chen Changsheng shook his head and said no more.

He stood up and walked toward the Well of Gods and Demons.

In the blink of an eye, he entered the Demon Domain.

The current Demon Domain remained a land of endless blood for thousands of li. However, it was much better than before, carrying far less malevolent aura and blood energy. The sea of blood had also been largely cleansed, and all of it was now contained within a single pool.

His return this time was not without purpose. He had come here to look for a few things.

Namely, those remnant body parts from before.

After the spirit cage was destroyed, evil spirits had tainted this world.

Later, by capturing hundreds, even thousands of evil spirits, Chen Changsheng had seized the origin of the Demon Domain.

Now, those evil spirits were suppressed throughout various parts of the Demon Domain, maintaining its stability.

As for their exact locations, Chen Changsheng could not say for sure. Back then, he had exhausted his strength and long since forgotten the details. Now, he could only search for them slowly.

Those remnants were especially important!

They were none other than the corpse of the Demon-Summoning Divine Lord!

During his search, he also saw the newly constructed Underworld.

It extended in all directions, divided into five cities that guarded the east, west, south, north, and center.

There were already souls within these cities; they were the very souls of the soldiers Chen Changsheng had collected back in the Mortal World.

Currently, many aspects of these cities had yet to be perfected.

In truth, these five cities were not the real Underworld. The actual Underworld was somewhere else; these were merely a series of Ghost Cities.

Chen Changsheng did not pay it too much mind. After searching in all directions, he did manage to find a few of the bodily remnants.

One hand, both legs, and the upper torso.

A total of four parts. Currently, he was still missing the head and one arm.

These two parts were perhaps still hiding somewhere in the Cultivation World.

Finding them would likely be a troublesome affair.

Chen Changsheng pieced together the remnants he had found, and just as he expected, they fit together seamlessly.

"Truly worthy of the name Golden Zombie—this corpse sends a chill straight to the depths of one's heart."

Chen Changsheng stored these four parts in his sleeve. The next time he went out, he would carefully search for the remaining head and arm.

He then continued forward, seeking out the Black Pagoda.

The Black Pagoda was working hard without complaint, absorbing the demonic energy from the Demon Sword.

Chen Changsheng entered the formations.

Upon seeing Chen Changsheng, the Black Pagoda immediately spoke in a mocking tone. "Oh, a rare guest."

"Save the sarcasm," Chen Changsheng replied.

The Black Pagoda snorted coldly. "You certainly have it easy, running off somewhere to enjoy yourself while I'm left doing all the dirty, exhausting work."

Chen Changsheng stepped forward to take a look. "Does the Demon Sword truly possess this much demonic energy? You still haven't finished absorbing it after all this time?"

"You think this job is simple?" the Black Pagoda retorted. "This Demon Sword is far from ordinary."

Chen Changsheng gave a slight shake of his head and then said, "I plan to take you out next time to find two things."

"What things?" the Black Pagoda asked.

"A head and an arm."

The Black Pagoda paused for a moment. "The remnants of that demon lord?"

Chen Changsheng nodded. "Exactly."

The Black Pagoda asked with some confusion, "What do you need those for? Are you planning to turn into a demon?"

Chen Changsheng shook his head, offering no explanation.

He simply had a vague feeling that this corpse was deeply connected to him. Perhaps he could discover something from it.

The Black Pagoda did not press the issue. "I will never understand you. But if I leave, what happens to this Demon Sword?"

"It poses no real threat anymore," Chen Changsheng said.

Over these many years of whittling it down, the demonic energy on the Demon Sword had been greatly depleted. Though much still remained, it was far less potent than before.

The Black Pagoda said, "I don't care about the rest. Either way, when the time comes, you have to fulfill the promise you made to me."

"This Chen always keeps his word," Chen Changsheng said.

"Only a ghost would believe your words, Chen Changsheng."

"Are This Chen's words truly untrustworthy?"

"Indeed they are."

"Hm..." Chen Changsheng pondered for a moment before saying, "This Chen feels that your point makes a lot of sense. In that case, let us consider my previous promise void."

"Don't do that, Lord Chen! Don't..."
