Chen Changsheng looked at Mo Yu, who was soaking in the lake, sheathed the Taiqing Sword, and waded in to pull him out.

Mo Yu's condition was dire.

Although the arm had been severed, its residual corpse aura and demonic qi continued to corrode his body and mind. The physical agony was indescribable.

His forearm was swollen and slick with blood. The lingering taint from the severed limb ate at him like poison, inflicting a searing, burning agony.

Chen Changsheng frowned at the sight.

He brought Mo Yu to a secluded spot.

After using magical power to temporarily stabilize Mo Yu's injured arm, Chen Changsheng sat quietly to the side and meditated while waiting for him to wake.

As a member of the Dragon Clan with both qilin and dragon blood, Mo Yu recovered fairly quickly.

When he woke, he found himself inside a mountain cave abode.

Chen Changsheng opened his eyes.

Mo Yu let out a long breath and said respectfully, "I will never forget that you saved my life, Mister."

"You should stabilize your injuries first," Chen Changsheng said.

Knowing how poor his condition was, Mo Yu didn't dare move too much. Once he had recovered a little, the Mister asked, "Tell me the whole story from the beginning."

Mo Yu nodded and recounted everything he knew in detail.

The matter started after the Investiture of Immortals Assembly.

The Evil Phoenix had survived, and with the Mister's whereabouts unknown, they had continued their pursuit through the Mortal World.

They split up, and Mo Yu found the Evil Phoenix hiding deep in the mountains of the Southern Domain.

"The Evil Phoenix was severely injured at the time. I was going to take him down, but he said something that broke my focus. That brief distraction cost me the opportunity, and someone managed to rescue him..."

"That person is back..."

Mo Yu's expression turned grim. He looked up at Chen Changsheng and said, "That fiend is back!"

Chen Changsheng stared in blank surprise.

Startled, he asked, "Who?"

"The Demon Lord."

"The Demon-Summoning Divine Lord?" Chen Changsheng pressed.

Mo Yu nodded. "The Evil Phoenix wanted to recruit me back into the Demon Lord's service. When I asked for proof, he only said that a great calamity would soon befall the Cultivation World and that the gaze of the Heavenly Dao would be obscured. I was horrified. My shock cost me my focus, and I missed my chance, allowing a surge of demonic qi to sweep him away."

"Later, I ran into the Ghost Sword Immortal. He attacked me on sight. I wasn't afraid at first, but somehow he had acquired the Demon Lord's corpse. Wielding just that single arm, he forced me back step by step. Left with no other choice, I fled toward the Cultivation World."

"He pursued me relentlessly. We eventually ended up on a deserted island, where I proved no match for him. When I tried to escape again, that corpse's arm held me back. Demonic qi invaded my mind, allowing him to severely injure me. Fortunately, I regained my senses just in time to get away."

"But the arm had already latched onto me, corrupting my sanity. I even considered severing my own arm to survive..."

Unexpectedly, the arm seemed to possess sentience. It continuously resisted him and even manipulated his mind, preventing him from cutting it off. Because of this, he had remained in hiding all this time, locked in a constant struggle against it.

Furthermore, everything the Evil Phoenix had told him was proven true, one event after another.

The Cultivation World had fallen into great chaos. Demonic cultivation methods of unknown origin had trickled into the world, and the gaze of heaven and earth had been intentionally obscured. An era of turmoil had begun.

It was then that Mo Yu finally believed the Evil Phoenix's words.

"Aside from that person, I truly cannot imagine who else could accomplish such a thing."

Listening to all of this, Chen Changsheng was somewhat dazed.

His gaze grew unfocused as he stared blankly, lost in thought.

'The Demon Lord...'

'The Demon Lord...'

Chen Changsheng was momentarily thrown into confusion.

He had previously learned from Gu Jiangshi that the Demon-Summoning Divine Lord might be his past life. Yet now, he was hearing that the Demon Lord had reappeared in the Mortal World.

Was that man not his past life after all?

Chen Changsheng frowned. This development was truly beyond his expectations.

There were a few possibilities.

Perhaps the Demon-Summoning Divine Lord was indeed someone else entirely. It could be that this Demon Sovereign simply suffered from symptoms similar to Chen Changsheng's Mayfly Curse.

Alternatively, the Demon-Summoning Divine Lord making an appearance now could be an impostor. In this scenario, the true Demon Lord had never been reborn, and Chen Changsheng's past life truly was him.

Or perhaps the original Demon-Summoning Divine Lord was indeed Chen Changsheng's past life, and the Demon Lord resurfacing now was a fake.

All of these were possible.

Chen Changsheng fell into deep thought. Regardless of the truth, he had at least obtained some solid information.

He looked at Mo Yu and asked, "Do you know anything else?"

"I do!" Mo Yu said.

His expression turned solemn. "Those old monsters have been resurfacing one after another. During the years I hid in the Cultivation World, I frequently sensed familiar demonic qi—from figures who once served under the Demon Lord."

Chen Changsheng murmured, "It seems many slipped through the net during the purge of those evil spirits back then."

Mo Yu nodded. "They are incredibly difficult to track down."

"With so many demonic cultivators stirring up trouble, the masterminds rarely show their faces. They must possess some extraordinary means of concealment. Since you once served under the Demon Lord, where do you think they are most likely hiding?"

"If we are talking about a hiding place..."

Mo Yu collected his thoughts and said, "The most likely location would be the Demon Domain."

Chen Changsheng paused at the name. "The Demon Domain?"

Mo Yu nodded. "Back then, the Demon Lord carved out a small world. Initially, it was meant to be a sanctuary for demonic cultivators. They might be hiding there."

"Do you know where the Demon Domain is located?" Chen Changsheng asked.

Mo Yu shook his head. "Although I served the Demon Lord, I never actually entered the Demon Domain. Not long after it was created, an incident occurred. Rumor had it that the Demon Lord suffered from qi deviation during his cultivation. The rampant demonic qi affected all the demonic cultivators within the Demon Domain. They turned on one another, slaughtering each other until the place was reduced to a dead land! After that, it became a prison. Almost no one who entered ever made it out alive."

Chen Changsheng looked thoughtful.

'So it was reduced to a prison?'

No wonder the Demon Domain had looked the way it did when he saw it in the past.

That made perfect sense.

"However, so many years have passed since then," Mo Yu continued. "The rampant demonic qi inside must have completely dissipated by now. It would be the perfect place to hide."

Chen Changsheng nodded. "Then does anyone know where the Demon Domain is?"

Mo Yu paused before answering. "Lihua once followed that fiend inside. However, Lihua's memories are fragmented now, so I don't know if it still remembers. The Evil Phoenix was among the very first group to follow the Demon Sovereign, so he has been inside as well. As for Jian Shenghua, I am not sure. I don't know much about him."
