Infinite Cashback: My God-Tier Cashback System
Chapter 218: Bitter Apologies"Who are you? How dare you hit me?"
Theodore stood frozen, his mind completely blank after the slap. He clutched his burning cheek, staring at Luca with a dazed expression.
Patricia was the first to recover.
"You bastard!"
She shrieked and lunged forward, raising her hand to scratch Luca’s face.
In her eyes, no man would dare hit a woman.
She was wrong.
Slap!
Luca showed her even less mercy.
The force of the slap knocked her off balance, sending her crashing to her knees.
Looking down at her, he let out a cold laugh.
"Before demanding justice, make sure you’re qualified to ask for it."
"You’re unbelievably stupid."
His eyes were filled with contempt, as though he were looking at nothing more than an insect crawling on the ground.
Patricia couldn’t utter a single word.
An overwhelming instinct screamed at her not to provoke the man standing before her.
Beside her, Theodore was drenched in cold sweat.
The moment their eyes met, an inexplicable chill ran through his entire body.
Only now did he understand why Patrick Halloway had personally appeared over such a trivial matter.
Everything revolved around this young man.
He looked barely into his twenties...
Yet when he acted, he was utterly ruthless.
Luca withdrew his hand and slipped it back into his pocket, clearly satisfied with their terrified expressions.
"Good."
"Now apologize to my girlfriend properly."
He placed a gentle hand against Sophie’s lower back and nudged her forward.
Theodore and Patricia looked at Sophie with bitter expressions.
Only yesterday, they’d cornered and intimidated her inside the hospital.
Less than twenty-four hours later...
Everything had been turned upside down.
’Why didn’t you tell us sooner your boyfriend was this terrifying?’
She’d looked so easy to bully.
Now they were the ones who’d been slapped around...
And still had to apologize.
The humiliation was unbearable.
Of course, neither of them bothered reflecting on who had started this mess.
They hadn’t only slandered Sophie.
They’d even gone to her home to stir up trouble.
Originally, Luca had only wanted to gather information from Patricia.
He’d never planned to intimidate them with his status.
Unfortunately for them...
They chose the one person he would never tolerate anyone hurting.
No matter who was actually responsible for the accident...
They deserved those slaps first.
Otherwise, Luca felt he’d suffocate from holding back his anger.
The two immediately lowered their heads.
"We’re sorry."
But after apologizing...
They both looked at Luca instead of Sophie.
Luca rolled his eyes.
’Why does it sound like they’re apologizing to me?’
’Am I really that scary?’
Seeing his reaction, the pair misunderstood completely.
Thinking he was dissatisfied, they hurriedly bowed again.
This time, they faced Sophie directly.
"Miss Kennedy... we’re truly sorry."
Luca waved his hand impatiently.
"Enough."
"Let’s talk about the compensation you were demanding."
With that, he took Sophie’s hand and walked out of the residential complex.
Theodore and Patricia remained rooted to the spot.
A towering figure suddenly blocked out the sunlight.
Mason Reid stood in front of them, his broad frame casting an enormous shadow.
"What are you standing around for?"
His voice carried obvious impatience.
"Get moving."
"Or are you expecting our boss to carry you there himself?"
The sheer pressure radiating from Mason made both of them tremble.
Theodore immediately forced out an awkward smile.
"N... no need."
"We were blind."
"Besides... everyone involved in the accident shares some responsibility."
If Sophie hadn’t had someone as powerful as Luca backing her...
He would’ve fought tooth and nail for compensation.
But now?
Not only had Luca appeared...
He’d even brought a lawyer.
Once lawyers got involved...
Things that should stay buried had a habit of resurfacing.
If that happened...
Forget compensation.
They might not even be able to save themselves.
"You don’t want compensation anymore?"
Mason frowned.
The change in attitude was almost unbelievable.
’Those two slaps really worked.’
He muttered under his breath.
"Seriously... what a pair of weirdos."
Then he turned and caught up with Luca.
"Where are they?"
Luca frowned.
"Why are they dragging their feet?"
’Yesterday they were willing to fight to the death over money.’
’One doesn’t care about her husband.’
’The other doesn’t care about his own brother.’
’Money was all they talked about.’
’Now we’re willing to discuss compensation... and suddenly they don’t want it anymore?’
He had never intended to actually pay them.
He simply wanted to see what cards they were hiding.
Mason grinned.
"They said they don’t want a single cent."
He couldn’t help giving Luca a thumbs-up.
"You’re incredible."
"Those two slaps were worth more than any amount of money."
The employees following behind all looked at Luca with admiration.
This...
This was what it meant to live well.
Young.
Handsome.
Ridiculously wealthy.
Dating a girl beautiful enough to look like an angel.
One disagreement...
A few slaps.
The other side immediately apologized obediently.
What could be more satisfying than that?
Luca laughed helplessly.
"I’m really not as amazing as you think..."
His voice suddenly stopped.
The scattered thoughts in his mind connected once more.
He slowly lifted his head.
His gaze drifted across the crowd before landing on Theodore and Patricia in the distance.
A faint smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.
’Right...’
’I’m not that amazing.’
’Which is exactly why their behavior makes no sense.’
He quietly exchanged glances with Patrick and Hernandez.
The three instantly reached the same conclusion.
Something about those two was definitely off.
Luca walked back over.
"Sir..."
Theodore immediately lowered his head.
Patricia looked equally nervous.
Luca skipped the pleasantries.
"I heard you don’t want compensation anymore."
As he spoke, his eyes never left their faces.
The pair exchanged another quick glance before shaking their heads almost simultaneously.
"No."
"No."
"We offended you and Miss Kennedy."
"We deserve what happened."
"What if I insist on compensating you?"
Luca narrowed his eyes.
His tone suddenly turned aggressive.
Theodore’s pupils visibly shrank for a split second.
"Sir..."
"My sister-in-law and I only want to bury my brother properly."
"I swear..."
"We’ll never bother that little girl or Miss Kennedy again."
"Please..."
"Just let us go."
Luca quietly patted Theodore on the shoulder.
Then he turned around and walked away without another word.
After walking a short distance, he rejoined Sophie and the others.
Patrick spoke first.
"Boss?"
"What do you think?"
Luca glanced at him before smiling faintly.
"Tell Justina to investigate every single person Theodore and Patricia have been in contact with over the past month."
"Leave no one out."
Then he turned to Mason.
"Find two sharp people."
"Keep an eye on both of them."
"If anything unusual happens..."
"Report it immediately."
By now, even Mason understood that Luca had noticed something suspicious.
He nodded seriously.
"Got it."
Then he immediately left to arrange everything.
After giving his instructions, Luca suddenly turned to Patrick with a completely unrelated question.
"So..."
"What do you feel like eating tonight?"
Patrick blinked, caught completely off guard.
After a moment, he smiled helplessly.
"Boss..."
"How about steak?"
Luca rubbed his chin thoughtfully before nodding.
"Steak sounds good."
"Juicy, tender..."
"Perfect."
