The massive city gates closed behind Victor with a dull metallic thud, sealing away the temporary calm of the inner sanctuary. Ahead of him lay a scarred and barren landscape stretching out as far as the eye could see. The earth was cracked, scorched, and stained with deep purple and black fluid, bearing testament to centuries of relentless conflict.
Victor set off toward the main front lines, which were located approximately one hundred kilometers away from the city walls. He moved with effortless speed, his feet barely touching the jagged, desolate terrain. Although this body was merely a clone, its cultivation level matched his main body perfectly, standing firm at the Sovereign Realm.
As he crossed the vast distance, the atmosphere grew increasingly oppressive. The air became thick with the scent of ozone, burning iron, and raw blood. The heavy gravity of the Universal Battlefield pressed down constantly, but it posed no challenge to Victor. Within a short time, the distant horizon began to reveal signs of active military staging.
One hundred kilometers out, a vast network of temporary tents and crude supply encampments covered the broken hills. Banners representing various universal factions fluttered against the ash-choked wind. Beyond these medical and supply tents, the sky was ablaze with flashes of elemental attacks, energy beams, and spatial ruptures. Thunderous roars, mechanical grinding, and the deafening shockwaves of high-level battles echoed continuously across the sky.
Victor paused on a small rise overlooking the perimeter of the encampment to observe the battlefield.
Farther out in the open plains, waves of Abyssals were clashing violently with the defensive formations of the universal forces. The Abyssals were horrifying creatures born of pure dark energy. Their forms were grotesque and distorted, ranging from multi-limbed, shadow-draped insectoids to towering monstrosities made of jagged bone and corrosive slime. They moved with frightening speed and possessed terrifyingly destructive power, throwing themselves into combat with reckless savagery.
Watching their movements, Victor noted the distinct differences in their behavior. The low-level Abyssals fought like rabid beasts, driven entirely by violent instincts without a single trace of tactical thought or self-preservation. They charged straight into spell arrays and razor-sharp barrier traps, mindless of their own destruction. Victor recalled the information regarding their hierarchy: low-level Abyssals possessed no intelligence whatsoever. It was only upon reaching the Nebula Rank and above that an Abyssal gained true consciousness, intellect, and strategic cunning.
With his current combat foundations, techniques, and deep realm comprehension, Victor knew that fighting even world rank Abyssals on this battlefield would be a simple task if he went all out. However, his objective was not merely to survive or showcase brute force. He needed to maximize his efficiency to earn vast amounts of Universal Points for the ranking system while simultaneously gathering Evolution Points.
He opened his internal status panel to review the spells and techniques currently available to him. His gaze settled on the most powerful spell currently in his possession: Arch Demon Transformation.
At its core, it was a Black Hole Realm spell. While formidable, Victor knew he could push its potential much higher using the vast pool of resources he had recently acquired. He had accumulated a staggering one hundred trillion Evolution Points after completely destroying the Heavenly Demon race.
Without hesitation, Victor selected the spell and allocated ten trillion Evolution Points toward its upgrade.
A crisp system prompt sounded immediately in his mind.
[Ding! Your Arch Demon Transformation has evolved from Black Hole Realm to Quasar Realm.]
[Next Evolution: 50 trillion.]
Victor looked at the remaining points and calculated the possibilities. If he spent another fifty trillion points to evolve the transformation spell once more, it would reach the Galactic Realm. However, doing so was impractical for his current situation. The Universal Battlefield had strict ambient energy limitations. Deploying a technique that contained raw Galactic Realm energy would instantly destabilize the fragile local space, causing the rules of the battlefield to forcefully expel him back to the outer universe.
"This will do for now," Victor smiled calmly to himself. A Quasar Realm transformation spell combined with his foundation was more than enough to dominate the frontlines without triggering spatial instability.
Satisfied with his preparations, Victor closed his panel and began walking toward the main perimeter where the temporary tents were pitched.
Just as he stepped into the outer edge of the encampment, a commotion erupted nearby. Panic and frantic shouts cut through the background noise of distant artillery and battle cries.
"Help! Miss Amelia is injured! Please, we need a healer!"
A group of female cultivators was rushing toward the medical area, their faces pale with anxiety. They were carrying a young woman whose clothes were torn and drenched in deep crimson blood. A massive, gruesome gash spanned across her abdomen, flesh blackened at the edges as if scorched by dark acid.
The combat on the battlefield was notoriously lethal, not just because of physical damage, but because of the nature of Abyssal power. Normally, cultivators who reached high stages like the World Realm possessed immense natural healing capabilities and fast cell regeneration.
However, attacks from Abyssals were infused with foul dark elements that actively clung to wounds, suppressing normal biological recovery and corrupting the victim’s energy pathways. Standard healing pills and ordinary regeneration techniques were completely useless against such corruption. Only powerful light elemental users could effectively disperse the dark energy and allow the body to mend.
At that moment, there were no high-ranking light element specialists available in the immediate vicinity.
A male healer belonging to the Spirit Race stood beside the stretcher, withdrawing his trembling hands from the wound. His forehead was soaked in cold sweat, and his expression was full of helplessness.
"She has been attacked by a Black Hole Realm Abyssal," the male healer announced in a stressed, strained voice. "The dark elements infecting her body are far too powerful. I am only a Sovereign Rank healer, and my light power is not concentrated enough to purge this darkness. I cannot heal her."
The female companions gasped in horror, tears streaming down their faces as the injured woman’s breath grew shallow and erratic.
Victor had intended to head straight out to the open plains to begin hunting Abyssals, but he stopped his footsteps. Leaving a talent like this to die right before his eyes when he had the capability to intervene went against his principles.
He stepped forward from the crowd, his posture calm and unhurried.
"Let me give it a try," Victor said softly.
The Spirit Race healer snapped his head up, his eyes flashing with irritation. When he saw that the speaker was a young human male displaying only a Sovereign Realm aura, his expression turned sharp and angry. The Spirit Race often held high pride in their natural affinity for supportive arts, and seeing a human step in so casually felt like an insult.
"You? You are a Sovereign Realm as well! Didn’t you hear just what I said?" the male healer barked, his voice filled with contempt. "If a Spirit Race Sovereign cannot clear Black Hole Realm dark energy, what makes an ordinary human think he can?"
Victor did not engage in a verbal argument. He simply turned his gaze and gave the Spirit Race healer a single, cold, unbelievably calm look.
The moment their eyes met, the Spirit Race man froze. An indescribable pressure seemed to weigh down on his soul, freezing the words in his throat. The raw depth of Victor’s eyes carried an unyielding authority that completely terrified him, forcing him to take an involuntary step backward in silence.
Without paying any further attention to the stunned healer, Victor stepped closer to the injured woman and glanced down at the dark, festering wound across her abdomen.
"Take her to a tent," Victor directed the female companions, his tone flat and utterly commanding.
The girls looked at Victor, completely awed by his unshakable confidence and the quiet dominance he exuded. Overcome by his absolute composure, they nodded immediately without questioning his authority, picking up the stretcher and carrying Miss Amelia into the nearest medical tent.
Victor walked over and sat beside her.
She was a member of the Ice Phoenix Race, a God-Rank race known for its extraordinary affinity with ice and powerful vitality.
Victor glanced at the five women standing nearby.
"You five should wait outside," he said calmly.
The dark energy inside her body was far more powerful than he had initially expected. To remove it completely, Victor would have to use the Arch Demon Transformation.
"This..."
The five women immediately became anxious.
How could they leave their young lady alone with an unknown human? They barely knew anything about Victor, and allowing him to remain alone beside her naturally made them suspicious.
Victor could easily guess what they were thinking.
"Don’t worry. Come back in thirty seconds. That should be enough."
"Thirty seconds?"
The women exchanged glances.
After a brief moment of hesitation, they finally nodded.
"Alright."
Thirty seconds was not a long time. Even if this human had any improper intentions, what could he possibly do within such a short period?
The five women quickly left the tent.
The moment they disappeared from sight, Victor’s expression became serious.
Without wasting another second, he activated the Arch Demon Transformation.
Boom!
An overwhelming aura briefly erupted from his body.
Victor’s appearance changed, and the power flowing through him rapidly rose. In an instant, he possessed the strength of a Quasar Realm entity.
He immediately placed his hand over the injured woman’s abdomen.
The next moment, the dark energy inside her body began to tremble violently.
Victor activated his power.
Whoosh!
The dark energy was forcefully drawn out of her body and absorbed into Victor’s hand.
At the same time, a gentle and warm light energy flowed from his palm into her body.
The light energy spread throughout her body, rapidly repairing the injuries left behind by the dark energy.
Within moments, her wounds disappeared completely.
Victor was about to withdraw his hand when his expression suddenly changed.
"This...?"
A trace of surprise flashed through his eyes.
He had noticed something unexpected.
However, Victor did not say anything.
Instead, he silently withdrew his hand and deactivated the Arch Demon Transformation.
His aura quickly returned to normal.
A moment later, he stood up.
Almost at the same time, the five women rushed back into the tent.
The moment they saw their young lady, their eyes widened in disbelief and relief.
Her clothes were completely alright and the injuries that had previously covered her body had completely disappeared.
"Thank you very much!"
The five women immediately bowed deeply toward Victor.
Victor simply shook his head.
"Don’t worry about it. Give her some time to rest. She’ll be alright."
After saying that, Victor turned and walked toward the exit.
"Excuse me, sir!"
One of the women suddenly called out to him.
Victor stopped and glanced back.
"How much do we owe you?"
Victor smiled faintly.
"We are allies. Don’t think too much about it."
He paused for a moment before continuing.
"We should help each other whenever we can."
Victor casually waved his hand.
The next moment, his figure disappeared from their sight.
