Infinite Mana In The Apocalypse

Chapter 5334: Sword of Existence! II

Chapter 5334: Sword of Existence! II

Noah crossed through THE Undefined Gaps with a little girl on his back.

Seo-yeon had climbed up at some point during the transit, settling onto his shoulder with the comfort of an an Infinite...Source Lifeform who had decided this was a perfectly acceptable way to travel, her small legs swinging back and forth as the unstable rivers of undefined potential streamed past them. Like all of this was nothing dangerous to her!

She showed no fear of the Gaps that would have reduced lesser beings to nothing. She had spent eons holding the endings of an entire Observable Existence. The spaces between defined reality held no particular terror for a being who had carried that.

Ahead of them, Sir William moved.

Noah watched the Source Lifeform reach into his existence and pull out a square wall of obsidian, and he recognized it immediately. It was similar to THE Advent Wall that the Gilded Ones used to enter THE Strand of Broken Scales, the gateway that had carried him and Eon across the boundary into THE Source Lands.

But where the Gilded Ones’ wall had felt improvised, a thing assembled and reverse-engineered from something else and used carefully by beings who did not entirely belong on the other side of it, Sir William’s was smaller and yet far more official.

Complete. The wall of a being who had every right to use it!

Sir William unleashed his Primordial Source into the wall.

Vibrant swirling obsidian light began to wrap around all of them, and Noah felt the pull take hold of his existence, a force drawing him toward someplace extremely far away, the same kind of pull he had felt crossing THE Advent Wall but cleaner, smoother, official in a way the prior crossing had not been. He was not sneaking in this time. He was being received!

As the obsidian rivers swirled around him, his attention remained partly with Chernobyl, his connection to the resuscitated Observable Existence still active, and through it he saw what had arrived in the domain he was leaving behind.

Dozens of Fourth Scale Ragnars with full will and full power. A gathering of Magna Sorora, every one of them carrying a third-rarity Intent. The golden-haired Sororis Prima taking his image and Seo-yeon’s image and committing them to memory, ordering them found and recovered at all cost.

He held the knowledge without alarm. They had his face now. That was a problem for the future, and the future was a place he had every intention of arriving at on his own terms!

For now, Chernobyl would hold, freshly rebuilt and backed by his Infinite Cause, and he was crossing into a place those forces could not follow.

Well, at least not the particular location be was now going to. He didnt know how vast it would be from where his body was in THE Strand of Broken Scales.

BOOM!

Existence twisted and distorted around them, and then the obsidian rivers faded, and Noah felt THE Source Lands open around this body of his.

It was different from before. When he had crossed with Eon into THE Strand of Broken Scales, the air had been dense and dangerous, the place vibrant but hostile, every breath carrying the awareness that survival was conditional. Here the air was freer and grander, carrying the same purity and immensity of THE Source Lands but without the sense of being somewhere he was not meant to be!

He breathed it in, and Seo-yeon breathed it in beside his ear as her mouth opened with a wide O, and both of them looked around with shining eyes.

They had arrived on vibrant green-gold grasslands.

Massive ancient trees lined the landscape to the left and right, their leaves a deep gold that caught the light of distant Illumination Flowers, their trunks rising toward a sky that felt higher and wider than any sky had a right to feel.

The grasslands climbed gently upward toward a massive mountain in the distance, and across the mountain’s face were structures, dozens of them, exquisite and equally massive, shining obsidian gold.

Some were castles, vast and radiant. Others were towers that rose so high their tops were difficult to find. The whole mountain was a settlement, but a settlement built on a scale that made the Gilded Ones’ bone-reinforced encampment in THE Strand of Broken Scales look like a child’s effort at architecture.

And on the grasslands where they had arrived, Noah did not have to look far before the Relictus noticed them.

Dozens of them raised their heads across the landscape. Obsidian-scaled Relictus in lizard-like draconic forms, their bodies vast and ancient, their scales the deep obsidian of beings constituted by THE Primordial Source.

They lifted their regal heads from where they had been lounging across the grasslands, and they gazed at Noah and Seo-yeon and Sir William with the unhurried attention of creatures assessing the new arrivals. They found that the new arrivals were accompanied by Sir William, nodded toward the group in something that was almost courtesy, and then lowered their heads again, returning to their lounging with the lazy contentment of apex beings at rest in their own territory.

Beyond the lounging Relictus, Noah could sense more.

Terrifying auras of the Third and Fourth Scale moved through the distant structures on the mountain, and the deeper into the place he directed his perception, the more terrifying the auras became, some of them pressing against his senses with a weight that suggested they exceeded anything he had yet personally faced!

This was not a place where powerful beings occasionally gathered. This was a place where powerful beings lived, in their thousands, in their millions, the population density of immense power unlike anywhere he had been!

Sir William turned to them, standing taller now that he was home, and began to introduce the place.

"This is THE Hallowed Demesne," he said. "It is the place where Swords of Existence are received. Where we come to choose our missions, to rest between them, to cultivate, to gather, to be among our own. Within its bounds move millions of Source Lifeforms, and a great many beings beyond Source Lifeforms who serve the cause in their own capacities."

His measured cadence held the pride of a being describing something he genuinely revered. "It exists within THE Source Lands, but apart from the wild and lawless territories like THE Strand of Broken Scales where the Gilded Ones make their incursions. Here there is order. Here there is rule. And the rule, and the wisdom beneath it, belongs to Her Majesty, THE Queen Regnant."
