Looking at Zhang Wenda's red eyes, resolute and filled with anger, 2826 knew that trying to talk him out of it was useless.

"Alright, I'll take you."

After speaking, he immediately pulled out a flashlight and began drawing a door on the wall with various patterns of light.

"This plan was aimed at Bureau 507's headquarters. See? Even the high-speed rail's anti-teleportation formation has failed. I'm not lying to you."

Zhang Wenda ignored him, waiting in silence. The moment the portal opened, he dove right through.

He arrived in the headquarters' main hall. The place was a wreck. Through cracks in some places, he could even see an upside-down ocean outside.

"Hey, who are you looking for?" Two guards with guns at their waists had just approached Zhang Wenda when he blurred past them, appearing behind them as an afterimage and dashing toward Tan Yougen's office.

Just as he was about to reach the door, a cold glint of light shot straight for his face. Zhang Wenda threw up his right hand, and the glint was instantly caught by the scythe hidden beneath his furry glove.

Zhang Wenda couldn't see what was attacking him; it was invisible.

But after Zhang Wenda quickly bit down on the mushroom inside his clothes, a translucent rabbit appeared in mid-air. As Zhang Wenda put on the rabbit jacket, Wai's appearance also seemed to change.

It glanced at Zhang Wenda, and as if it knew exactly where to strike, lunged and bit at a spot 50 centimeters below the glint of light. Amidst the sound of tearing fabric, Zhang Wenda suddenly felt the resistance on his scythe vanish.

Just as a hint of killing intent rose up beside him, a soft voice drifted from the room. "Let him in." It was Tan Yougen's voice.

As the door was pushed open, Tan Yougen, sitting behind a desk on the ceiling, clutched his bleeding neck and calmly watched the white rabbit walk in.

"Last night, where were your people?" Zhang Wenda's voice held a trace of suppressed fury.

"You can't only consider what you see right in front of you. Just like the cavalry wasn't the entirety of the Big Circle's plan."

"So what? You did absolutely nothing? If just one or two capable people had shown up then, my uncle wouldn't have died!!" Zhang Wenda completely unleashed the rage he had been holding back.

Tan Yougen shot to his feet and slammed his hand on the desk. "If we had really done nothing, do you actually think escaping to Thought Wave One would have let you shake Qianxi's pursuit? How do you think I got this injury? If we had really done nothing, not only would you all be dead, but all of Thought Wave One would have been thrown into utter chaos!!"

Seeing Zhang Wenda's furious red eyes, Tan Yougen took a deep breath and slowly sat back down. His voice softened as he said, "I'm sorry about what happened to Biaozi. But he asked for this. It was part of our deal."

"What exactly did you send him to do? I want to know everything!"

Zhang Wenda's voice was no longer furious; he was gradually suppressing his anger again. 'Tan Yougen's next answer will determine whether I add him to my revenge list.'

As if trying to numb the pain, Tan Yougen pulled a cigarette from a drawer and started smoking.

"Cough..." After taking a drag, Tan Yougen began to speak slowly.

"Don't talk as if he was my subordinate. He was originally qualified to take over his father's position. But, well, he did some... unsavory things when he was younger. After being sent to prison, he was completely cut off from any chance of a Third Line post."

"Do you know when we first made contact with him? It was that time you brought him over to have his monster's true nature removed. To be honest, I was shocked back then, too. To think something like him would pop out of a rabbit."

The white smoke descended from the ceiling like a thin white thread, falling in front of Zhang Wenda before finally landing on the floor at his feet and slowly dispersing.

"He told me he was willing to be a mole inside the Big Circle. He said he would help you complete your mission. The condition was that after this task was done, I would fully accept you and make you a member of Bureau 507. And not the cannon fodder type, either."

"That is what he said, yes. But at the time, I didn't fully trust him. After all, he'd been with the Big Circle for so long. Who knew if he was a double agent?"

"Later, he seemed to sense our reservations. So he said that just keeping you safe was enough. As for his part, we didn't need to make any preparations for him. If it succeeded, it would be a win-win. If it failed, it would be as if he'd never said anything."

After explaining all this, Tan Yougen, still on the ceiling, tossed down a USB drive. "This is the surveillance footage from that day. If you don't believe me, you can see for yourself."

"That's the long and short of it. You can call me a cunning old fox, but I wouldn't stoop to lying to a junior like you."

Seeing that Zhang Wenda said nothing, Tan Yougen continued, "Although there were some flaws in how things played out, you and your uncle forced Qianxi to advance their plan. In a way, you barely managed to complete the mission."

"The promises I made to Biaozi and to you are still valid. Of course, if you're still angry with me, if you think I was too calculating and didn't do enough, and you're unwilling to accept this—"

"I'll take it!" Zhang Wenda said, his voice decisive.

He looked up at Tan Yougen on the ceiling and said, "Why wouldn't I take it? Why should I refuse the benefits my uncle and I paid for with our lives? I'll account for every last bit!"

Tan Yougen looked at Zhang Wenda, surprised. After studying him for a moment, he understood. 'So, he's grown up? So fast. He grew up in the blink of an eye.'

"Alright then, that's for the best. First, go to HR to set up a file. You can talk to finance about your salary and field allowance. For standard combat supplies and Spectral Spell Techniques, go to the armory. If you don't understand any of the finer details, go ask 2826."

Just after saying this, Tan Yougen suddenly remembered something. "Oh, right, one more thing. You can get rid of your monster's true nature now. Just go to the equipment room in Sector 2, unit 6. This is all part of what I promised you before. I keep my word."

"No, I don't need that anymore."

Zhang Wenda looked down at his rabbit paws. With a thought, sharp, barbed scythes shot out from the fur of both paws, gleaming with a cold white light under the lamps.

"Why are you keeping that thing? To be honest, it does you more harm than good."

"I'm going to use it for revenge," Zhang Wenda said, practically grinding his teeth. "It can make me strong! So I have to keep it!"

"I've learned the rules of the adult world ahead of schedule. Everything else in this world is bullshit. Only power is real! It doesn't matter where that power comes from! If I had been stronger than Qianxi last night, my uncle never would have died!"

"Qianxi! Tang Xingxiong! I'm going to kill them. I'll make them pay the price for killing my family! And the prerequisite for that is power! Power greater than theirs!"
