"Since you’ve already helped once, how about helping one more time?" Zhang Wenda stared at the floating Ishchel like a scoundrel, acting as if he had her completely figured out.
Ahava practically crawled over to Zhang Wenda on his knees, grabbing him and trying to pull him to the ground.
"Apologize, quickly! Apologize! Ishchel may be the kindest god in the Pantheon, but you’re going to infuriate her like this."
Before he could even finish, the Moon God’s anger flared.
"Outlander! You’ve gone too far!"
As Ishchel grew angry, the surrounding lunar soil seemed to brighten in an instant, and everyone present began to float uncontrollably into the air.
"Have I gone too far? I haven’t asked you to do anything difficult. I’m a member of the Third Line, the creators of the entire tide of thought. The only reason you so-called ’tide of thought’ gods even exist is because of us." Zhang Wenda continued to up the ante.
"Utter nonsense! That’s just a self-serving story you mortal outlanders tell yourselves!"
Hearing this, Zhang Wenda frowned. ’What does she mean? Do they have a different explanation for the emergence of the tide of thought?’
Before Zhang Wenda could figure it out, her fury blazed once more. "You’re just a little insect from the Third Line! So what if I crush you? Would your people really go to war with us gods over a single person like you?!"
Seeing her reaction, Zhang Wenda’s heart sank. ’I didn’t expect her to fly off the handle so easily.’
Luckily for him, Zhang Wenda still had an ace up his sleeve. With a composed look, he said, "Do you really think I’m just some grunt from the Third Line? If I were a nobody, would the Big Circle be hunting me down? Hmph! Do you know who my grandfather is? Do you know what position he holds in the Third Line?"
This statement took not only the Moon God by surprise, but everyone else as well.
Song Jianguo, who was trying to reinflate the Black Cat that a black crow had punctured, looked at him in surprise. She quietly sidled up and whispered, "Who is your grandfather? What position does he hold in the Third Line?"
Zhang Wenda smiled faintly, not at all flustered. He then wrapped an arm around her neck and whispered into her cat ear, "Actually, I have no idea. I’m just bluffing."
When he saw a flicker of wariness in her eyes, Zhang Wenda knew his ploy had worked.
’Since she’s wary of the Third Line, I just have to go all out and build myself up.
’I don’t know who my grandfather is, and this stinking beggar of a foreign god sure as hell doesn’t either. When you’re far from home, your grandpa’s status depends entirely on what his grandson can cook up.
’My grandfather has no ambition and wants for nothing, he wouldn’t even let me borrow his name to scare people. But if she thinks I’m some big shot’s kid, she’ll have to help.’
Ishchel hovered in mid-air, her all-white pupils seeming to gaze at something in the void.
Suddenly, with a wave of Ishchel’s right hand, the people in the air landed back on the altar. Then, she looked at Zhang Wenda with an amused expression that made his skin crawl.
’What’s this? Did she see through my bluff?’ Just as Zhang Wenda was thinking this, she slowly spoke. "Fine. On account of your grandfather, I will help you one more time."
The surrounding moonlight rose up again, materializing and weaving together as it bored into Zhang Wenda’s chest.
Bathed in moonlight, the Sacrificial Knife lodged in Zhang Wenda’s chest was slowly extracted once again, and the gash it left behind healed rapidly.
This time, however, Ishchel clearly wasn’t going to leave any loose ends. She directly confiscated the Sacrificial Knife of Kopan.
After doing this, she even left him with a parting threat. "Your soul will be scorned by the gods! In Kopan’s stead, I confiscate its power!"
Watching the Sacrificial Knife disappear into the moonlight, Zhang Wenda felt a trace of regret. ’That thing was actually pretty useful. Under Kopan’s gaze, it could temporarily block most of the rules of the tide of thought and certain Extraordinary Abilities.’
Once Zhang Wenda’s wound had completely healed, the materialized moonlight quickly wove itself around his body before exploding into a shower of starlight.
Just as Zhang Wenda touched his furry chest, sighing in relief that it was finally all over, his hand suddenly froze in place.
WHOOSH. Everything he had stuffed into the cavity was tossed out in front of him like garbage. An enamel mug slowly rolled to his feet with a CLATTER.
"What’s wrong? Is something the matter?" Hu Maomao walked over and asked.
"The zipper... it’s gone." Zhang Wenda looked down. The zipper on the chest of his rabbit jacket had completely disappeared.
It wasn’t just that the zipper was gone. As Zhang Wenda frantically felt himself up and down, he discovered that he had completely fused with the rabbit jacket!
"Moon God! What’s the meaning of this?! You’re messing with me, aren’t you!"
Zhang Wenda finally understood the meaning behind her amused smile before she left. ’So this was her revenge, waiting for me all along.’
Ahava earnestly advised from the side, "I told you to be reverent toward the gods, but you just wouldn’t listen. She might not kill you, for the sake of the Third Line, but she has more than enough ways to make you miserable."
Seeing Zhang Wenda completely turned into a rabbit, however, made Song Jianguo very happy. She and her cat flopped onto Zhang Wenda’s back like a pancake and began stroking his incredibly soft fur.
"This is great. So much nicer to touch now."
Zhang Wenda wasn’t ready to give up just like that. He hadn’t forgotten the side effects of this rabbit jacket.
’If I can never take this off, and a second personality pops out, that’ll be just one more problem on my plate.’
With that, Zhang Wenda stood on her altar and began to worship again, attempting to get her to change him back.
However, before Zhang Wenda could even begin, a new change appeared on the distant silver skyline. A dazzlingly bright line was approaching at an incredible speed.
"What is that?" Zhang Wenda squinted, looking in that direction. As the bright line drew closer and closer, a pleasant cell phone ringtone went off.
Zhang Wenda pulled his phone from his pocket and answered it, only to hear 2826’s anxious warning. "Run! That’s the sun! The moon is turning into the sun!!"
Apparently, the Maya Moon God didn’t want to listen to Zhang Wenda’s blabbering anymore and had decided to use the sun to chase them off.
Hearing this, everyone immediately started running for their lives. Zhang Wenda, grabbing his things and stuffing them in his pockets, shouted into the phone, "Hurry! Shine a beam of light over here and get us back!"
"I did!"
The group looked around blankly at the blindingly bright surroundings, but found they couldn’t see any other light in this situation. After all, using a flashlight during the day and using one at night are two completely different things.
"Where’s the beam of light?! It’s too bright all around! I can’t see it!!"
