*Anos’s POV*

‘Well that was…..interesting.’ I thought, walking out of the stands, after the match was done.

It had been quick, the quickest end to a Quidditch match I had ever seen with my own eyes at least.

The match had started as normally as possible, with Madam Hooch telling both teams to play fair and since Slytherin weren’t involved the recounting of the rules had been short.

Lee Jordan was commenting on the match but was much more subdued with it than normal, probably because Dad was the referee and was sitting at his right. Both teams had played respectfully but the Gryffindor team was much more well trained and it showed.

The match had started and within the first three minutes of the seven minute long match the Gryffindors had scored twice with the Quaffle, and seeing this the Ravenclaw beaters had tried to direct the Bludgers towards them.

Unfortunately for them, the Weasley Twins were the Beaters for the Gryffindors and they were really in a fury today, perhaps because Oliver Wood’s training regime or because of Filch taking away their Knuckle Crackers  about two days ago, whatever the reason may have been both of them had enjoyed batting the Bludgers away without a care in the world and might have accidentally guided one to the referee stand.

Gryffyindor got a penalty for that and Oliver seemed ready to bawl his eyes out but unfortunately had refrained from it, maybe it would have extended the match somehow.

After that Harriet, who up to this point had been flying methodically in circles around the pitch while avoiding Bludgers and looking for the Snitch burst out at great speed in the air and as I followed the path she seemed to be following I spotted the Snitch fluttering in the shadows of the Stands.

Unfortunately that didn’t help much because before it could’ve tried to run Harriet was already closing in on it while the Ravenclaw seeker was halfway across the pitch in the opposite direction.

And just like that the match ended, within the span of 7 minutes and with Gryffyindor having 170 points while the Ravenclaw scoreboard had remained completely untouched throughout it’s short run.

So here I was, walking out of the Quidditch pitch after an extremely short match while internally laughing at some of the other First Years who were worrying that they might just put on extra classes today since it wasn’t even noon yet, not that it would happen because something like that would cause nothing short of Bread riot with the students.

“That was fast.” Simon said, walking at my side.

“Very much so. Well guess we don’t have any lessons now.” I said, scratching at my neck.

The sky was incessantly clear and the sun was shining in all its devilish glory.

‘Maybe I can go back to the Common Room and look at some more of the language books?’ I considered as we passed the courtyard.

I still hadn’t found out what the words meant, even with Hermione’s help and now I knew more about Mountain troll and Giant tongue then I could have ever wished for, even had some advancements in learning Yeti languages as well. Draco helped every once in a while, Simon had tried to help but had quickly found out that he wasn’t as good with languages as he might have hoped.

So I still had about 3 unread tomes in my room, waiting to be flipped through and thoroughly liquefying anyone’s sense of self after they had finished reading it. At least we now knew that the words came from a Gigantic creature, a slender tongue too most likely considering the examples given in ‘Words from Lands’, a gigantic nigh encyclopedia containing an enchantment which boasted about containing a word from every type of magical creature and the added benefit of speaking the words like a recording.

So I had that to look forward to, but at least being out of the sun and not constantly itching sounded pleasant.

“Hey! You still with us?” Simon said, shaking my arm and breaking me out of my reverie.

“Hmm? Yeah.” I replied absentmindedly.

“We were just talking about Ron Weasley and Neville getting into a fight with some Slytherins.” Draco chirped.

“When did that happen?” I asked, confused.

Maybe I had been too focused on the match.

“At the tail end of the match, we don’t know much but I heard Weasley lost a tooth.” Simon answered excitedly.

‘Well, more work for Madam Pomfrey.’ I thought wryly.

“Who were the Slytherin participants?” I asked, noticing Hermione and Lan had already left as we entered the Castle proper.

“Well it was Victor, Crabbe and Goyle….” Draco answered, as expected, considering the amount of time he spent making friends with the Slytherins and on rare occasions with some HufflePuff students as well.

‘Well those two are expected at least.’

“...and Maxwell Snape. Something about Daphne Greengrass.” Draco added.

“Oh.” was all I answered with, fighting the urge to sigh.

It had taken quite some time to realise this but Maxwell wasn’t a part of any Ascended House or a pure blood family even, surprising considering he talked like he had a Qilin roosting on his head or something.

In fact there wasn’t any House Snape counted among the Wizarding families at all, which I wasn’t aware of, and which also meant Dad was a half-blood by Wizard standards.

‘He never did tell me much of anything about his childhood.’ I thought, walking up the ever moving stairs and the chattering Portraits.

Maxwell had at least taken my, admittedly harsh warning, to heart and had generally not bothered me at all. If the same courtesy had been by relation provided to Dad I didn’t know, Dad hadn’t spoken to me about Maxwell at all after the beginning of the year.

‘I do not know everything.’ I cursed the assholes who had dropped god knows what at me, leading to my death.

Oh I was more than thankful for this life, not that they had anything to do with it except killing me, but if they had done the courtesy of either not killing me or atleast letting me finish the final book I might’ve cursed them a bit less. At least there wouldn’t have been massive gaps in my knowledge of the future. Knowing some things while being completely in the dark about other things was infuriating and had made me more than once scramble at even faint memories from my previous life recently, trying to gather even a gleam of information more.

The only reason I hadn’t written all of it down was because of fear that someone might find it since I spent most of my time in Hogwarts, and while I did have enough autonomy to go to Gringotts I couldn’t be too sure about safety even there.

So instead I was the subject of tireless night asking questions no one had answers to and reading incessantly.

‘Better than being alone, I suppose.’ I thought as I walked into the Common Room, prepared for another unending night of reading from dusty old tomes.

Maybe I could have some coffee, a bit wouldn’t hurt.
