*Anos’s POV*

An hour later, the group departed from the library but not before gathering Alucard for help.

The vampire princeling had just been entering the library looking bleary eyed when  Harriet had noticed him and convinced him,  quietly of course,  to join them in Hagrid's hut, in hopes that he’ll  be able to gather from what Hagrid spoke. Perhaps even get Hagrid to speak more.

So the group made their way out of the castle towards the hut, sitting on the edge of the Forbidden Forest, with Hermione and Harriet moving in front bringing Alucard up to speed with all they had heard while Simon watched as Anos tensely followed them at the back.

“Come on, the sucker isn’t going to kill you.” He said, trying to cheer Anos up, who had not been very pleased with the new addition to their group, even if he understood the benefits of it.

“First of all he can’t kill me, even if he might like to. Second of all I’m not afraid of him, disappointed is the more correct word.” Anos said, and the word sounded extremely petty to even his own ears and were certainly heard by Alucard.

*Whack*

Simon whacked him on the back of the head in reply.

“Look I don’t like Vampires and creatures of the night, that’s what has been passed down in my clan from Leon Belmont the founder to Gabriel to my dad and then now me. To me both you and Bloodsuckers should fall into the same category but  you don’t, my mother taught me better than that.” Simon spoke earnestly but Anos cut him off.

“I thought your mother was uh you know.” Anos said, jumbling the words.

For all his experiences he still sometimes found trouble being as blunt as kids ought to be.

“Dead? Yes she was but my dad spoke about her to me when I was very little, now I even have letters. That’s not  the point. Look I give both of you a chance to be my friends and I have judged and seen how the both of you act, one like a prancing pony the other like a swamp dragon.” Simon said forcefully, and Anos didn’t  know whether he should feel offended by the comparison or laugh at the absurdity of it.

“You both are good, that’s all I can say. So either the both of you make up for each other’s faults or I’ll bash your heads till you do.” Simon ended, showing his fist as if it was a great threat, then again Belmonts did punch very hard.

Alucard had certainly heard Simon as he chose that moment to look back at them with a raised eyebrow, and Anos wasn’t sure if the small smile on Alucard’s face was genuine or a trick of the light.

Before Anos could reply they had already reached Hagrid’s hut and after Harriet knocked on the door they were let in….into something resembling hell.

“Why do you have a forge inside your shack Hagrid!” It was Alucard who spoke first, clearly the most uncomfortable in the environment.

The room was stifling in its warmth as it had all the curtains closed despite the pleasantly warm breeze blowing outside, and a well tended fire was blazing in the grate.

“Can’t, sorry.” Was all Hagrid replied with before making them tea, in which Anos and Alucard did not partake while when Hagrid offered them Stoat Sandwiches the only thing Alucard was able to reply with was “I’m afraid my feeding teeth will shatter.”

“But I’m sure Belmont will enjoy them, he does enjoy his foodstuff to be solid.” Alucard had politely remarked upon seeing Hagrid put off.

Simon had stared holes into Alucard’s head while taking one of the sandwiches with a smile and then had begun chewing… and then his face had lit up and he had asked for more which Hagrid was delighted to offer.

‘Either I have gone mad or Simon has replaced his teeth with that of a Lycan.’ Anos thought in amazement and he knew that Alucard was thinking much the same from his expression.

As Simon ate the sandwiches with gusto everyone else sat around in the room, Alucard sitting near the gate sweating off years from his lifespan and looking ready to run out while Anos sat the closest to the blazing fire, finding the warmth in the room surprisingly pleasant.

‘I could probably fall asleep in here.’ He considered, but now was not the time.

“So, yeh wanted to ask somethin’?” Hagrid questioned, looking at Harriet.

“Yes.” She replied “We wanted to know what else is guarding the Philosopher’s Stone aside from Fluffy.”

Hagrid frowned.

“I can’t tell yer all about it. Already know too much, Merlin’s stones, the stone was almost stolen from Gringotts, but I suppose yeh’ve worked that out an’ all? Beats me how.” Hargid spoke, displeased about the whole situation.

For a moment there was silence, and Harriet seemed to be considering how to speak while Alucard was still sweating an unhealthy amount, incapable of  pitching into the conversation.

“Come on Hagrid you’re the GameKeeper, you know everything around these parts. I spent enough time here to know, you remember how I bit BuckBeak on it’s arse?” Anos said, lightening the mood as Hagrid gave a giant belly laugh.

“That bird is still sore on it’s hind that I know, it misses yer but guess I can’ ask yeh to visit more. Wouldn’ want ye to not study, not when exams are near.” Hagrid said, and Hermione smiled at the mention of exams being near, looking at all of them as if she had won a great victory.

Anos almost wanted to doze off or sit closer to the fire but the former was discourteous while the latter would set his torso on fire, no matter how pleasant the flames felt.

“You can ask me to visit, I have time. And I don’t think BuckBeak would want to miss the chance to pluck a few clumps of hair from my head.” Anos said smiling, the idea wasn’t entirely bad since he had enjoyed the company of the creatures Hagrid kept whenever he visited, except anything with more than 4 feet or too many eyes of course.

He still wasn’t entirely warm to the idea of critters no matter how many times Hagrid might’ve offered him a sack of good soil and a colony of DirtTasters to raise.

Hagrid was pleased by the word, and shaking the stray thoughts from his head Anos decided to speak to the giant rather than let his mind wander to the flame.
