Infinity and Magic

Ch 97; Blood and Bones Part I

*3rd POV*

The room was silent till the child occupying the twitched drawing the attention of the other two occupants of the room.

"He's waking up." Alucard said standing up and walking over to the bed helping Anos stand up.

"Slowly, no sudden movements." Alucard helped Anos get into a sitting position with his back to the bed frame.

"Better now?" Lan asked, sitting on the other side of the bed.

"Better? Dragon's teeth my face feels like someone lit it on fire and then poured Wildfire on top to try and put it out, I can't smell anything except my own blood and it's making me uncomfortable." Anos answered in frustration.

"As expected, it's only been half an hour and your nose is already fully healed, the bleeding stopped within minutes but the blood must've clot." Lan helpfully supplied.

"You're lucky, very lucky indeed. Most of our kind have some form of the gift of healing, even Wraiths and Whitebones have them but you….. yours is equal to mine if not stronger. The pain should be from healing that quick, it'll go away soon." Alucard said, fascinated and staring at his friend's face.

"Well it's bloody painful, I think I heard half a dozen small cracks when you set my nose." Anos spat looking at Lan with annoyance.

His expression was answered with a small smile by Lan.

" Close. There were 7 cracks. 6 from bones and one from your nasal cycle being forcibly discontinued." Alucard answered.

"Now I want to ask once more about what did this to you." Lan said, walking over to the door of the room and to the surprise of both Alucard and Anks removing his sword from a crude mantle that was built on the door.

"Why do you keep your sword there of all places?" Anos asked after a moment.

"You'll know one day, now the nose." Lan said as he sat down on the floor after getting a cloth to clean his sword with.

Anos sighed while Alucard looked interested as he sat down on the other chair.

"A Golem." Was the answer in a small voice.

"I knew that a lot of the suits of armor were enchanted to be animated as well as some of the statues, so where were you attacked?" Alucard asked, lightly scratching at his ring.

Anos thought the words over for a moment before replying.

"No, it's not what you think, I wasn't attacked on the orders of someone." He quickly clarified before continuing.

"There's a secret room in the school, the Room of Requirements, in short I wanted to practice some of the more….. advanced spells as well as some of my abilities and there are Golems there that duel with me."

Lan stopped cleaning his sword and looked up.

"By 'Dueling' do you mean that this stone Golem tried to crush your skull by punching you?" He asked quizzically and visibly stopped breathing when Anos answered with a nod.

"Sounds less like a duel and more like something trying to kill you because if it was anyone other than you fighting it and it got close enough to initiate melee combat then a human would have had less of a body than a discombobulated meat sack." Alucard muttered.

"And is there only one Golem?" Lan prodded.

"No, there are 5. All with a different amount of stars engraved into them."

"And they all fight you at once?" Alucard asked, squirming a bit in his chair.

"What? Of course not, only 1 comes forward at a time and the duel usually starts with spells. " Was the reply.

"Yes because trying to kill each other is just so much more polite." Alucard spat.

"And how did you get out of there?" Lan asked clearly intrigued even as he clutched onto the hilt of his blade.

"What?" Anos asked, confused.

"How did you get out of there? Did you run away?"

"No, I just defeated it and then walked here while cursing." Anos replied gently touching his nose and being pleased that it no longer made him wince.

"And how did you 'Defeat' the Golem?" Alucard said putting Anos's hands away from his nose.

"I just punched its chest till the stone caved in and then pulled out its heart. It's usually in their upper body and they go limp after that." Anos answered chirpily and Lan for the first time in his life came close to fainting.

"You……bashed it till the stone gave away and then pulled out it's Heart." Alucard said after a long moment of silence, clearly disbelieving.

"It's harder than you would think, it was trying to grab onto me but I had to hold it in place while I madly scrambled inside its chest." Anos said, shivering.

"Are you an imbecile?" Alucard near shouted and Anos jumped back a little.

"You're telling me that you willingly fought it , and from your words it sounds like this isn't the first time, and then shrugged off the wounds from the fight?" Alucard said, exasperated.

"I can handle it." Anos answered.

Those had been the wrong words to say, as Alucard stood up and walked out of the room, shutting the door so hard that it almost came off its hinges. Leaving a stunned Lan and Anos behind who both sat in silence for a long time afterwards.
