Silas stared at the student candidates gathered beneath him.
With a thought, he began to clone himself, till there were exactly 300 copies.
Silas’s gaze swept through the students for a moment, before he spoke.
"Everyone from that wing to the last."
He pointed at one group.
Levi nodded, then with a snap of his fingers, they all vanished, reappearing outside the spaceship.
A colossal barrier, more than a hundred times the spaceship’s size, covered them from the outside pressure of the void.
Silas fed the spatial ring containing the weapon with aether, and a section of it was pulled outside.
Although it was only a section, it was at least five times the spaceship’s size.
Levi took charge before it could be fully pulled out, transferring it to the barrier alongside one of Silas’s clones.
The process repeated itself over and over, till all the sections were split between the students.
"That should be all," Silas said with a smile and a heavy sigh.
Levi smiled.
"How long do you think this would take?" Levi asked Silas as he landed beside him.
"Probably half a month, depending on how dedicated they are."
"That’s good enough."
Silas nodded in response.
Everything moved smoothly afterwards.
The students took an hour break every 12 hours.
Although it was too little, considering their high level of cultivation, it was bearable.
At least, for most of them.
People like Billie, who were only at the Master rank, could not keep up well.
Billie slammed into the dining table, her eyes heavy with tiredness.
She could not even lift her spoon due to how tired she was.
"I still find it hard to believe that you are at the Marshal rank," Sylvester said, eyes still wide with surprise.
For one to know, Billie was ranked as the second strongest person in their sector.
Far ahead of millions of Marshal rank experts, this was not meant to be possible.
At least, that was what he thought until now.
Nobody answered him.
After asking the same question for three breaks, they had grown tired of answering him.
"Here, let me feed you," Silas said with a smile.
Billie nodded.
"How much time has passed?" Amelia asked.
"Yeah, it feels like we have been here for close to a year," Sylvester said.
After shoving a spoonful of rice into her mouth, Silas turned back to reply.
"Since we are using the imperial calendar, I would say 10 days have passed."
"So long?" Amelia whispered back.
Silas nodded.
"But we would be done soon anyway, so there’s no need to overthink it."
The assembly of the smaller sections was already nearing an end, with some students having completed theirs.
"How would we join everything together?" Billie voiced out weakly.
"Lord Levi, joining the sections does not require too much technicality, just connect the joints together," Silas replied.
Time passed slowly as they enjoyed their break.
Then, a bell rang through the entire ship.
It signified the end of their break.
Without hesitation, they all stood up from their chairs and headed towards their section.
Levi, seeing everyone was already gathered there, nodded.
They all appeared in their barriers immediately.
Silas watched as everyone left, then turned towards his room.
"Welcome back," Asher bowed, seeing Silas approach the room.
Silas waved.
"Thank you."
With those words, he walked into his room.
The room was as organized as ever, as if it had never been used before.
Silas looked around for a split second before sitting on his bed.
While the weapon was being constructed, he decided to advance his cultivation.
A screen flared in his sight.
It was the principles of forming a core, a book he had gotten from Asher a few hours ago.
He did not plan on creating a core yet.
He had to first stabilize his new rank, then deduce a better method.
But to have a general knowledge about it, he had to read this book.
[Elemental Cores are an expression of aether.]
Silas read the first line slowly.
As if that were a ritual he performed to honor the book, his eyes began to drift from line to line at a pace that felt like he was not reading at all.
[To craft a core, a cultivator must align their aether with the universe temporarily, and pull out the element they want, before solidifying the aether into a core. Repeat the process till you have fully crafted the core.]
Those were the words on the last line.
The screen closed as Silas finished reading.
"Okay, it is really boring without these guys," he sighed, resting his back against the bed.
His eyes were fixed on the ceiling.
...
"I can’t believe we managed to build that," one of the student candidates said to another.
"I know right? I thought we would get caught in the Void Tide," the other replied.
As they spoke, their eyes turned to the one student who stood at the forefront.
If it weren’t for him, they might have died in this void of space.
...
Silas watched with calm as Levi floated in the void of space.
Levi’s body was covered in a thin golden sheen of aether.
He stood in the centre of the planet-sized weapon.
The coupled parts orbited him like planets, and Levi was a celestial sun.
His eyes snapped open, and he began to move his palm with the gentle grace of an expert.
He took the first section and attached it cleanly to the second.
Then, the third to the attached ones.
It did not take long at all; in less than an hour, the entire weapon was attached together, the spaceship and Levi at the centre.
Levi looked at the weapon, eyes calm, but a storm beneath.
He could not believe his own eyes; such a thing had been completed so fast by students who had never attempted science.
Well, most of them.
He turned back to look at Silas, then nodded in acknowledgement.
With that, he descended into a crack that opened beneath him.
As soon as Levi left, the students began to cheer.
If it weren’t for their fear for Levi, they would have started screaming even before the weapon was fully coupled.
They were loud and chaotic, with some people even lifting each other in uncontrollable joy.
