Levi floated in the void of space.
He moved from one point to another through the weapon.
Those were the activation points that needed batteries.
At this moment, Levi was placing hundreds of high level batteries into each of these ports.
Such a thing was of little concern to him with how much he had.
But to Silas, who was now a business mogul, the cost was enough to make him vomit blood.
Each of those ports consumed enough batteries to rival his entire company’s worth.
"Is this what they mean by the closer you are to the top, the farther it becomes?" He sighed, looking away from there.
"We should be grateful that this is a low tier planetary weapon, otherwise, it would have consumed much more batteries," Sylvester chimed in from the side.
"You just had to speak, huh?" Silas asked, turning back to look at Sylvester.
Sylvester shook his head.
"I am sorry."
Silas drew a long breath.
"I wonder why he placed both of us together."
"Because we are the coolest," Sylvester said with raised brows, as if the answer was obvious enough for Silas not to miss it.
"Remain quiet, so we can have a normal session," Silas replied, turning forward again.
He was currently in a glass-like compartment.
He looked at the void through the glass.
His hands held a massive controller tightly.
Sylvester also held a similar controller, although smaller.
And his own only had 7 buttons.
This was one of the millions of weapon compartments in the weapon.
Each of the compartments had one railgun, in their case controlled by Silas, and a torpedo launcher, controlled by Sylvester.
Such pairing was the same among the other compartments.
"Be careful, Master Silas," Asher said.
"It’s okay, although you have forced me to bring you along."
Although Asher was not visible, Silas knew where he was.
He had merely assimilated with the aether in the surroundings to become invisible, something that could easily be seen through by anyone at the Ascendant Realm and above.
Levi finally filled the last port, and he reappeared at the forefront, outside the cover of the super massive weapon.
His gaze shot through the void.
A mass of darkness that corrupted the void came into his view.
Although they were at least a light year away, at their current pace, in less than 30 minutes, the tide would reach the spaceship.
They were already within firing range, but Levi did not allow the students to fire.
They were not there to kill, but rather to defend.
The tide rushed through, parting as they neared the spaceship.
Levi knew more than anyone that he could not let his guard down because of that.
He was right.
One void beast did not follow the others, and lunged towards the spaceship.
It was just one, not enough to be considered a threat.
With a languid wave of his palm, a crack tore through the beast’s body.
The beast was shredded into pieces without resistance.
Looking closely, the beast was comparable to a Resonance Realm cultivator, and it was killed before it could even resist.
But that was only a precursor to something far larger.
From behind the void beasts, thousands more swarmed in, moving towards the ship with the ferocity of crazed beasts.
Levi pulled his sword out, then pointed it towards the beasts.
It was an order to open fire.
Boom.
Concentrated blue beams streaked through the void, smashing into the swarm of void beasts and pulverizing them into particles tinier than atoms.
Silas’s grip tightened against the controller as he shifted the railgun’s angle.
"This is weirdly beautiful," Sylvester muttered from the side.
Silas shook his head at Sylvester’s odd aesthetic, but chose to focus on the beasts instead.
The tide of stray beasts was cleared quickly, and the weapons were brought to rest.
Silas sighed, flexing his fingers to ease the cramps he was feeling.
"At this rate, we might not need the torpedoes," Sylvester said.
Silas nodded.
While they spoke, Levi went around refilling the aether batteries.
Amelia and Billie were in the same compartment, Billie in charge of the railgun, and Amelia in charge of the torpedoes.
"Should we switch roles?" Amelia asked gently, looking at Billie’s cramped fingers.
"No, don’t worry," Billie replied.
Amelia sighed.
Soon, the batteries were restored, and the weapon was ready to work at maximum effectiveness.
But the tide did not divert to their area after that one time.
This made the students feel relieved.
"We are really lucky," one of the students said to her teammate.
Hope nodded in response, unsure of what to say.
The teammate could not help but shake his head.
"Why can’t you talk?" he asked.
Hope ignored him, and he did not press on.
Meanwhile, to the veterans, this was too unusual.
Levi squinted his eyes as he peered further into the void, hoping to find a clue.
But there was none; only the thick fog of darkness covered his view.
It was not just him.
Asher appeared out of nowhere.
"Master Silas, I suggest you leave handling this weapon to your clone," he said.
Silas blinked in confusion.
"Why should I?" he asked.
"This tide doesn’t feel right," Asher replied directly, not bothering to hide his words.
Silas shrugged.
"I can’t hide; if anything happens, let’s face it together."
With those words, he turned back towards the void tide.
Asher raised his shoulders as if to speak, but they fell in the end.
He was only a bodyguard, not someone who could order his master around.
Right on cue, Levi turned back towards the students.
"I feel something amiss here," he said, his voice reaching everyone’s ears perfectly.
"For this reason, I am about to dive into the wave of void beasts."
As he spoke, a barrier of pure dimensional energy covered them.
"With this barrier, you can attack anything outside, but nothing outside can penetrate it as long as they are not at the Stellar Realm."
Levi turned back towards the tide, not even waiting for the students to voice their thoughts.
He knew for sure that the chances of the barrier holding the beasts back for long were quite slim, but it would at least give them time to react in case of anything.
