"How far away is this Banana Island?" Silas asked the driver.

This was a different driver from the one who had driven them from the academy's main ship.

His tone was sluggish, as if he was barely holding back from sleeping.

"We would be there soon," the driver replied, adjusting the front mirror.

Silas's head tilted to the side slowly, then he froze.

"He is sleeping," he muttered, watching Asher's figure.

Silas did not disturb him; he turned back to the driver.

"Since I am this bored, won't you at least tell me about Earth?" Silas asked, his back resting against the chair languidly.

"What do you want to know, sir?" The driver asked.

Silas sighed.

Even he did not know what he wanted to talk about; he only wanted the driver to say something that could interest him.

The driver looked at Silas through the front mirror.

"Do you know why Earth, the Imperial Capital, is more ordinary than a low-grade planet?" He asked with a smile.

Silas's attention was piqued.

He had been curious about it too, but had not spoken much about it since there was no one to ask.

Seeing Silas's interest in the topic, the driver began to talk.

"It is because of the CON's decision to preserve Earth as it was before the Great Surge."

Silas frowned.

"You have just used two terms that I am not familiar with," he said, not hiding his confusion.

"CON is an acronym for Coalition of Nations," the driver said, as if he had been waiting for Silas to ask.

"They are the body that governs Earth outside of the Emperor."

Silas nodded slowly in understanding as the driver spoke.

"The Great Surge is the event that brought aether to this planet and set humans on this path."

Silas blinked.

"Aether has not always been present on Earth?" He asked.

"No," the driver shook his head slowly with a smile.

"So much to learn," Silas muttered, closing his eyes slowly.

Although learning new things was not a problem for him, thanks to his skill, the fatigue was real.

"Sir."

"Sir."

Silas heard distant voices calling him, but they seemed near at the same time.

Then, a touch.

Silas was jolted awake by the sudden tap on his wrist.

"Huh?" He asked, rubbing his eyes with his palm.

"We are at your house," the driver said.

Silas yawned.

"Okay, thank you."

Silas's gaze turned from the driver to the house.

Although the house was still made from ordinary materials, and was not as tall as other buildings Silas had seen, it still touched something in his heart.

"This is really beautiful," Silas muttered.

Asher stepped out at the same time, freezing briefly from the beauty before him.

It was a three-story contemporary villa, made from glass, white render, and dark timber screens.

"I will take my leave now, sir," the driver said, handing the car keys to Silas.

"And this is also your car. Your new driver is waiting in the house."

"New driver?" Silas muttered with creased brows.

"Hi, I am Howard, your new driver," someone said from the villa's door.

"That sounds familiar," Asher said, turning towards the source.

It was their driver.

The same one who had brought them to Earth.

"Please, before we continue this, I am famished," Silas groaned, his hand wrapping around his stomach.

"I already prepared something for you," Howard said, pointing his thumbs backward towards the house.

"Really?" Silas asked, walking towards the house.

Howard nodded, opening the door for them to pass.

The other driver walked out of the compound at the same time.

The living room had three silver chairs arranged in a square formation, with the television area making the last angle.

There was a dining table further down, then a door that led to the kitchen right beside it.

"Is that a study?" Silas asked, pointing towards a dimly lit room.

"Yeah, I was arranging the books there when you came, that's why it is open," Howard said, reaching to close the door.

Silas was about to yell out of excitement.

"Please, give me food so I can yell," Silas said to Howard.

Howard nodded, sauntering towards the kitchen.

Soon, he came out with two plates of red grains.

"This is jollof rice, a specialty of Nigeria," he said.

"It looks delicious," Silas gulped.

"It is, indeed," Howard nodded.

Silas reached for the fork by the plate and took a full scoop.

He stared at Howard, then Asher.

Then dipped the rice into his mouth.

He continued to chew.

"Wow," he gasped, as if he had just completed the most arduous task he had ever performed.

"This is really delicious, the spice hits really different," Silas said, blinking multiple times as he stared at the beef on the plate.

Slowly, he reached for the knife with his left hand and began to cut.

"The meat is tender, soft, spicy, sweet. This is probably the best beef I have ever tasted."

Howard bowed.

"You are welcome."

Silas sat back in the chair and looked at Howard.

"Forget being a driver. You are the new chef of this house."

"Yeah, I would take on the task of driving him every day," Asher said, sitting in front of his own plate.

Howard's eyes twitched.

"I was…"

"You are welcome," Silas said, cutting him off before he could complete his words.

Howard looked on as his job was switched and there was nothing he could do about it.

"Once we are done, you can take us on a tour of the house," Silas said.

Howard nodded, walking back to the kitchen.

He soon came out with a bottle of champagne and two glass cups.

"Since I am the chef now, I can't let you guys down," he said, pouring their cups halfway.

"What are you doing? What about your cup?" Silas asked.

"I am fine," Howard said, setting the bottle on the table.

Silas gave him a flat look.

Howard sighed.

"Fine."

"Here is a toast to the future," Silas said, raising his cup.
