Silas's fingers brushed the books as he walked through the study.
Then he stopped.
"I like this study," he muttered, his eyes still darting from shelf to shelf.
As something created for him by the academy, the knowledge was definitely not trivial.
Howard nodded calmly at Silas's words.
"Let's go to the kitchen next," he said.
Silas nodded, following behind Howard.
The kitchen door, made from exquisite brown wood, creaked open as Howard pressed against the knob.
Silas stepped in after Howard.
The kitchen was big enough to support two different caterers preparing meals without conflict.
The cabinets were a deep matte black that glistened gently under the setting sun's rays.
In the centre was a marble island.
A small window that showed a beautiful little garden hung above the sink.
After a brief look around, Silas was already leaving for the next place.
"This is really beautiful," he commented as they exited the kitchen.
Howard nodded.
"Would you like to go to the underground lab, or see the upper floors first?" He asked Silas.
"There's an underground lab?" Silas asked, his brows furrowed.
"Yes, just beneath us," Howard said, pointing his index finger downward.
"Nice, I can start experimenting on those corpses now," he muttered beneath his breath.
"What?" Howard asked, facing Silas.
"Let's go to the upper floors first, then come back downstairs," Silas said.
Although he was in a hurry to see the lab, he still preferred to save it for last.
Howard nodded, then pressed a button on the elevator's control panel placed just beside the door.
The door opened with a soft chime and both of them entered.
Their bodies jerked as the elevator came to a stop.
The doors slid open, revealing a hallway with just three doors.
"These are the three rooms in the villa. That one," Howard said, pointing towards the door on the right, "is the master's room."
He opened the door to one of the rooms on the left side of the hallway.
It was a big, spacious room with a single bed in the centre.
A work table sat just by the door's side.
On the left side of the bed, a sleek brown wardrobe stood against the wall.
On the right side was a door that led to the bathroom.
Silas nodded as they left the place.
"The other room has the same design," Howard explained as they walked towards the master's bedroom on the opposite side.
The door swung open gently.
Silas's gaze was captivated by the sight before him.
"Now I wish I had gone to the lab first," he muttered as he sauntered into the place.
The room looked like the abode of someone who was never to be left in any kind of discomfort.
A massive king-sized bed was placed in the centre.
It was covered in a sleek blue sheet that drew Silas in the longer he stared at it.
He looked away towards the balcony.
Without much thought, he walked towards it and opened the door.
The balcony seemed to have been well thought out, with enough space to sit or even play casual games with friends.
A chair had been placed there too.
And beyond it, a lagoon of beautiful blue water stretched into the distance.
The atmosphere was peaceful and serene, to the extent that Silas's mind went quiet temporarily.
As they walked out, Silas could not help but comment.
"Although they did not focus on making the planet science-heavy, it still feels more luxurious than the ones that do."
In their kind of life, such peace was truly a rare pleasure, something most would never be able to taste in their lifetime.
"That was the goal of the CON, to create one place that everyone can always look back to," Howard said.
There was a moment of silence between both of them before they nodded.
They left the place.
"The next upper floor," Silas said.
Howard nodded and led the way.
As they walked, Silas read the paper in his hand.
He had found it in his wardrobe while they were looking around.
The elevator doors chimed and they stepped out.
The upper floor was not a room, or even an enclosed space.
It was a garden built on top of the building.
The fresh, sweet fragrance of flowers filled Silas's nose as he walked through the place.
The flowers came in different sizes and colors.
In the centre was a single sofa, large enough to seat three people.
There was also a telescope standing by the glass edge.
In front of it was a tall wooden stool.
Silas looked at the telescope, then the flowers.
He did not know when he sank into the chair, lost in the beauty around him.
"Aren't you going to the lab?" Howard asked.
Silas shook his head.
"There's no need to, since I have to be at the academy so early in the morning. I can't lose sleep to an experiment."
Howard nodded slowly and said nothing else.
Just then, the elevator chimed again.
Asher walked through it with a smile.
"I am done setting the game up. We only need to continue from where we stopped."
But he froze when he finished talking.
"Wow," he muttered.
"Okay," Silas replied to Asher's words.
The sun had begun to dip, and darkness had begun to creep into the world.
All of them chose to enjoy the sight quietly.
"That's it, I have to sleep," Silas said, standing up from the chair.
"I need to get up early to activate the academy's portal in the lab too," he said.
"You don't have to follow me though," Silas said as he entered the elevator.
Howard and Asher stared at the spot where Silas had stood just moments ago.
"Who said we were following you?" Howard asked with a smile.
The elevator hummed as it descended, then stopped with a slight tremor.
Silas strode out, towards his room.
He opened the door, entered, then shut it behind him.
The night passed swiftly, and morning came fast.
