They both had extracted the B‑Rank dark‑green mana cores from the orcs. Sara already had a subspace pouch prepared, and she carefully placed all the cores inside. The faint glow of the cores shimmered briefly before vanishing into the pouch’s depthless space.

She extended the pouch toward Ethan. He hesitated, his fingers hovering over it as he muttered softly, "Don’t you think you should take some too? At least you could sell them and earn some money."

His words made her chuckle. She patted his shoulder lightly, her touch firm but reassuring. "Don’t worry, Ethan. I don’t need to take these. I’m not craving money. But you need them more than me. You’ve reached C‑Rank mana affinity; I can already sense it. Use these to increase your affinity even further."

Her tone carried no hesitation, only certainty. Ethan’s lips parted slightly, but no words came out. He simply nodded, his tired smile faint but genuine.

Sara straightened her posture, her gaze drifting toward the horizon. "For now, I’ll take my leave. Elina might be waiting for me at home."

Her mention of home made Ethan raise his brow. "Home? You live with Elina?"

Sara gave a firm nod. "You never knew about that? I thought she had told you before."

Ethan shook his head, denying it. "No... she never mentioned it."

Sara didn’t linger. After a few minutes, she walked further into the city, her figure disappearing into the distance. Ethan stood there for a moment, his eyes falling back on the lifeless bodies of the orcs. A thought surfaced inside his mind. Why did these orcs come here? Was their arrival tempered? If yes... then I’ll have to make preparations.

His fingers clenched tightly around the pouch. He glanced around once more before turning toward his home, where Athena and Isolde were waiting.

He walked towards his home; he travelled through the streets of the society. After walking for a few minutes, he reached the main door to his house.

When he opened the door and stepped inside, both of his wives looked at him. Athena’s brows furrowed instantly. Ethan looked ragged, exhausted, injuries and bruises covering his body. His clothes were torn, his breathing uneven.

He raised his hand weakly, waving once. "Hello."

His voice was soft, stripped of its usual energy. Both Athena and Isolde understood immediately; he was exhausted beyond measure. Worry flickered across their faces. Their husband had returned injured, his body pushed to absolute limits.

Athena’s tone was blunt, sharp with concern. "With what did you indulge in a fight? It doesn’t seem like something below D‑Rank."

Ethan scratched the back of his head, forcing a tired smile. "Uh... I fought the orcs. They attacked the neighborhood. I didn’t have any choice but to fight." His words were truthful. There was no point in hiding it.

The moment his words sank in, confusion struck them first, followed by a wave of worry.

Athena’s voice rose, frustration laced with fear. "Didn’t I tell you to rest, Ethan? Yesterday you attempted a C‑Rank dungeon, and now you fought against B‑Rank orcs? Such audacity after promising you wouldn’t do anything reckless?"

Her words pierced him deeper than any wound. Ethan lowered his gaze, guilt flickering across his face. He wanted to defend himself, but the truth was undeniable. He had been reckless.

Isolde, though blind, tilted her head toward him. Her voice was softer, but carried the same weight of worry. "Your aura feels unstable. You’ve overexerted yourself again."

Ethan sighed, his chest tightening. "I know... I messed up. But I couldn’t just stand by while they attacked. People would’ve died."

Athena’s jaw clenched, her fists tightening at her sides. "And what if you had died? What then? Do you think we would’ve been fine watching your body collapse lifelessly? You’re not invincible, Ethan."

Her words struck him harder than any mace. He looked at her, his tired smile fading. "I... I didn’t think about that."

Silence filled the room, heavy and suffocating. Ethan’s body trembled slightly, his muscles screaming in pain. He lowered himself onto a chair, his breathing uneven.

Athena crossed her arms, her eyes narrowing. "You need to understand that your life isn’t just yours anymore. It belongs to us too. Stop throwing it away like it’s nothing."

He closed his eyes briefly, inhaling deeply. Fuck... I really am reckless. I can’t keep doing this. Not when they’re depending on me.

He opened his eyes, looking at both of them. "I promise... I’ll be more careful. I won’t let this happen again."

Athena’s gaze softened slightly, though her brows remained furrowed. "You better keep that promise."

Ethan nodded, his fingers tightening around the pouch of mana cores. His mind drifted back to Sara’s words, to the suspicion she had voiced. _If someone deliberately drove those orcs here... then something even bigger might happen.’

His jaw clenched, determination flickering in his eyes despite his exhaustion. He looked at the bodies of the orcs in his mind’s eye, remembering the chaos, the blood, the fury. ’Fuck... I don’t want to suffer through something like this once again!!’

Athena noticed the shift in his expression. "What are you thinking?"

Ethan shook his head lightly. "Just... that I need to get stronger. Strong enough to make sure nothing like this happens again." He knew that there wasn’t anything good in hiding his thoughts, so he told them.

Isolde’s lips curved into a faint smile. "Then rest first because your core needs some time to recover; then you can start training,"

Her words carried wisdom, and Ethan couldn’t deny them. He leaned back, closing his eyes briefly.

’When I wake up, my first task is to ask about this thing from these two. I have to confront them because I have a few suspicions that they might know why this is happening. In the end, they both are esteemed figures.’

’After that, I will start training to improve my body physically because only Mana affinity is not going to help me win in fights.’ He said inwardly as his fingers curled into fists.
