Knot me on ice, Captain(BL)

Chapter 346: You’re Already My Home

Rhys

I stood there frozen, wiping the sticky green goop out of my eyes in utter disbelief.

"What?! How! How is that wrong?!"

I turned toward Kayden, who was covering his mouth as he giggled.

"Sorry, baby!" Kayden called out, leaning forward. "That was my favorite song last year! My new absolute favorite song is Ride Home by Ben&Ben! We picked that song as our song."

I wiped a gob of slime off my nose, letting out a heavy, defeated breath. "Dammit," I muttered under my breath, before looking at him with a helpless smile. "Sorry, babe. I missed that one."

"It’s okay, you still did the best out of everyone," Kayden laughed, offering me a paper towel.

Once the trivia segment ended and we all got a quick moment to clean the worst of the slime off ourselves, Leo called for the next activity.

"For this next game, Rhys will be blindfolded!" Leo instructed as Soren stepped up to tie a thick black silk strip over my eyes. "We have lined up five dancers on stage, including Kayden. All of them are wearing the exact same signature orchid perfume that Kayden uses. Rhys, you must identify your groom using only your sense of touch."

The soft, sweet scent of orchids immediately filled the air around me. I could hear rustling clothes and quiet footsteps moving all around the stage as the dancers circled me, trying to throw off my sense of direction.

I stood still, taking a deep breath. The scent was everywhere, so relying on my nose was useless. I had to think deeper. What made Kayden distinct to me beyond just his perfume?

The first dancer stepped up. I reached out, gently feeling their shoulders and the frame of their face.

Too broad, muscle structure too rigid. It was not him.

The second dancer stepped forward.

I touched their hands and jawline. The skin was smooth, but the fingers were too short.

Not him either.

Then the third person stepped up in front of me.

I raised my hands, my fingertips lightly brushing against their cheeks, moving up to touch their hair. The strands were incredibly soft, cascading down into loose, familiar curls that had grown slightly longer over the past few months.

I slid my hands down to their waist, feeling the distinct, gentle curve of their body, the soft warmth of their skin, and the small, delicate frame that I held in my arms every single night.

A natural softness radiated from them that no one else in the world possessed.

"Found you, softie," I murmured softly, a smile spreading across my face.

"Are you sure about your pick, Rhys?" Leo asked from the side.

"Hundred percent," I answered without a single second of hesitation.

I reached behind my head and pulled the blindfold off.

As my vision cleared, Kayden was standing right in front of me, his blue mesh outfit glittering under the stage lights, his eyes shining with pure warmth.

"Hey, baby," Kayden whispered, stepping closer and wrapping his arms around my neck. "You picked the right person."

"I’d recognize you anywhere," I replied softly, sliding my hands securely around his waist and pulling him flush against my chest.

Leo clapped his hands loudly into the microphone. "Well done, Captain! You may now kiss the groom!"

I didn’t wait another second. I leaned down, cupping the back of Kayden’s head with one hand while my other arm held him firm against me.

Our lips met in a slow, soothing, and deeply passionate kiss.

It wasn’t rushed, it was filled with pure happiness and passion.

Kayden softly parted his lips, letting out a quiet breath into my mouth as he melted completely into my touch.

The noisy hall around us seemed to fade into total background noise, leaving just the heat of his skin and the taste of his lip gloss.

When we finally pulled back, Kayden’s cheeks were flushed a deep, beautiful pink.

He let out a soft sigh, shyly resting his forehead right against the center of my chest, hiding his face while my hands stayed settled comfortably around his waist.

"Alright, alright, break it up before you two start an early honeymoon on stage!" Leo joked, as the crowd cheered and clapped. "Now, it’s time for speeches!"

We all shifted toward the center lounge area of the stage as the guys took turns stepping up to the microphone to share words for the two of us.

Miller took the mic first, rubbing the back of his neck with a rare, genuine smile. "I’ve known Rhys since our college days. We trained together, got drafted to the league at the exact same time, and I’ve seen him at his absolute highest and lowest. I’m truly proud to be his friend, and I’m so happy he’s reached this point in his life. As for Kayden... we met almost a year ago when he joined the team, and watching the two of them grow together has been incredible. You guys are perfect as teammates, and even better as lovers. I wish you nothing but the absolute best, man."

Kayden smiled brightly, nodding in appreciation, while I gave Miller a firm head nod. "Thanks, Miller," I said quietly.

Next, Leo stepped up to the microphone, taking a deep breath as his tone shifted into something surprisingly sweet.

"Kayden has been my childhood friend for as long as I can remember," Leo began, looking directly at Kayden with soft eyes. "We have been through so much together. He is truly the brother I never had, and I love him more than words can express. Medically speaking, finding a life partner who increases your baseline serotonin while simultaneously decreasing your cortisol levels is a statistical rarity—so I’m glad he found that in you, Rhys."

The entire room burst into laughter at the medical joke, and even Kayden wiped a tear of laughter from his eye.

Leo turned his gaze toward me, a small, nostalgic smirk playing on his lips. "Honestly? I completely hated Rhys when I first met him. I thought he was arrogant, territorial, and annoying. But over time, he proved himself, and he’s grown to become one of my closest friends. Just take care of my brother."

"Thanks, my man," I said with a genuine grin.

My mind briefly flashed back to our very first encounter months ago—how insanely jealous I had been back then, foolishly convinced that Leo and Kayden were secretly involved before I actually understood their bond. Looking at him now, I couldn’t be more grateful to have him in our corner.

After a few more teammates spoke to warm applause, Soren walked up to the microphone alongside Rio. Soren took a quiet breath, holding the mic close.

"I just want to say thank you to both of you," Soren said softly, glancing between Kayden and me. "Kayden... you literally saved my life when I was at my absolute lowest point. You found me when I felt completely lost, and I will be thankful to you for the rest of my life." Soren paused, swallowing back his emotions before turning his gaze directly onto me. "Rhys... please take care of him. He deserves the whole world."

"I will," I said firmly, holding Kayden a little tighter against my side. "I promise."

"Thank you, Soren," Kayden added gently, offering his friend a warm, comforting smile.

Once the speeches wrapped up, the stage lights dimmed once more.

"And now," Leo’s voice resonated over the sound system, "we have a special visual presentation."

A massive projector screen descended from the ceiling behind the stage, lighting up with a video compilation.

Soft, melodic music began to play as the screen filled with memories from the very beginning of our journey. It showed clips of us on the ice—me as captain, Kayden as our star forward—competing, arguing, and gradually finding our rhythm together.

Then came the candid moments. Dozens of ridiculous, candid locker room videos that Miller had secretly filmed over the past year showed up on screen: Kayden stealing my workout towels, me glaring at anyone who walked too close to his locker, and quiet moments where we thought no one was watching.

Then the video transitioned to our private life—our first official date at the pier, sitting on the wooden deck under the evening lights, laughing over warm drinks.

Photos of our quiet mornings at the penthouse, our trip to the countryside, and silent moments where we were simply holding each other.

It was a visual timeline of two people falling completely, undeniably in love.

Kayden leaned close into my shoulder, his eyes wide as he watched the screen with a radiant smile. He turned his head slightly, muttering over to Leo, "How did you even find all of these?"

Leo winked smoothly back at him. "A doctor always has his ways, Kayden. I have archives."

As the video compilation came to a warm close, the lights lifted slightly.

Leo stepped back up, raising a crystal glass of champagne high into the air.

"To Rhys and Kayden!" Leo announced loudly.

"To Rhys and Kayden!" the entire hall echoed in unison, raising their glasses high before taking a drink.

"And now," Leo declared, tapping the mic, "to finish off the night properly, I demand our grooms take the floor! And yes, we are practicing our official wedding dance right now to Kayden’s new favorite song!"

The soft, romantic intro chords of Ride Home by Ben&Ben began to stream beautifully through the room’s high-end speakers.

I took Kayden’s hand, leading him down off the stage and into the open center of the wooden dance floor.

I pulled him close, sliding one hand comfortably onto his lower back while holding his small hand in mine.

Kayden rested his head lightly against my shoulder as we began to slow-dance, swaying gently to the rhythm of the music.

The soft acoustics wrapped around us, making the entire world feel tiny and distant.

"You really missed the music question, huh?" Kayden teased softly against my neck, his voice full of quiet laughter.

"Hey," I chuckled, turning my head to press a soft kiss into his hair. "I’ll make sure I memorize your entire playlist by tomorrow morning."

"You don’t have to," Kayden whispered, looking up at me with eyes so full of love it took my breath away. "You’re already my home, Rhys."

I smiled, tightening my grip around his waist as we turned together under the soft lights of the hall, ready for whatever tomorrow would bring.
