Long ago, the Silent wanderer crossed the forbidden eastern wilderness.

He had nothing backing him at that time. He had three beasts accompany his journey: a wolf, a serpent, and an old black boar.

For a few grueling years, the wanderer survived within mountain areas where rank four beasts were merely common predators. He never placed restrictions upon his companions. He simply walked in his path, and they chose to follow.

One freezing winter night, the wanderer lingered into a deep sleep under a withered tree, his three beasts resting around him in the snow.

A wild rank four Bloodfang Tiger stalked into their campsite, drawn by the scent of human blood.

The wolf’s ears flicked up as its golden eyes snapped open. The serpent raised its head from the frozen ground. The black boar slowly, silently rose to its feet.

The wanderer remained asleep. The Bloodfang Tiger lunged forward with slashing fangs.

BOOM!

The black boar slammed into the beast head-on, taking the brunt of the impact. The wolf slashed into the predator’s neck from the flank, while the serpent swirled tightly around its legs, breaking the bone.

The clash was over in less than sixty seconds. When the morning sun rose from the horizon, the brutal rank four beast lay dead in the snow.

The wanderer slowly opened his eyes, taking in the fresh light before staring at his three companions.

"Did I ever tell you three to fight?"

The black boar sat down heavily with a lazy huff. The wolf gave a light wag of its tail. The serpent slithered upon his arm, settling around his neck.

The wanderer let out a calm chuckle, reaching out to rub their heads one by one.

"You fools protected me without a command," The wanderer praised, smiling and closing his eyes.

Later that evening, the wanderer wrote a single line within his leather journal.

"A beast that moves to protect its master without orders has already far surpassed the beast that merely obeys every command."

And centuries passed, and beast cultivators across the continent continued to recite that tale. Yet very few truly understood its meaning.

A wild contract could forcefully control a beast, rigorous training could bring discipline, and primal fear could force obedience.

But only pure trust could compel a beast to strike before its master even recognized the blade in the dark.

The warm mountain dawn broke over the peaks onto the Red Talon Hall.

The thirty newly accepted outer disciples rose early from their quarters. Today was their first gathering within the sect.

They were dressed elegantly in their fresh crimson robes embroidered with the golden talon insignia, the disciples gathered outside the courtyard.

"Well? How do I look?" Chen Ming puffed out his chest, meticulously straightening his collar.

Lian Nichang looked him up and down with an unamused expression. "Like a thief who ran off with an outer disciple uniform."

"What?!" Chen Ming muttered, pouting in anger. "I have dignity!"

"You’ve been checking your reflection in every puddle we’ve passed," Lian Nichang sneered, nodding his head.

"I am simply appreciating perfection."

"You’re blocking the walkway," Lin Yuan beamed, casually walking right between them.

Chen Ming stepped aside with a smirk. "See? Even Lin Yuan is speechless by my presence."

"I said you’re in the way," Lin Yuan replied instantly without slowing down.

Calm laughter broke out among the thirty disciples as they followed the stone path toward the grand hall at the peak.

The main hall of Red Talon Hall sat atop a soaring area overlooking the sprawling outer sect.

The towering vermilion pillars supported the roof, each carved with soaring Phoenix symbols. The golden flames lingered gracefully within enormous bronze braziers along the hall, filling the space with warmth and light. Above the grand entrance there is a massive golden talon emblem of the sect.

The moment the thirty disciples crossed the door, all chatter became silent.

Sitting upon the sect master’s throne, there was a middle-aged man in dark crimson robes with black silk edges. His long, dark hair was tied loosely behind his shoulders. His eyes carried the weight of the authority, and the spiritual pressure emanated from his body pressed down on the hall.

He is Divine Beast Realm — Lower Stage. And resting silently behind his throne was the silhouette of a majestic Phoenix. Its wings are wide enough covering the rear wall, shining with crimson and gold feathers, and its burning eyes resembled twin suns.

He is the Sect Master of Red Talon Hall — Xue Hongzhao.

The thirty disciples immediately clasped their fists and bowed at once. "Greetings, Sect Master Xue!"

"Rise!!" Xue Hongzhao raised a single hand, his voice calm and steady.

He held an open leather scroll, his eyes darting down the names of the newly admitted disciples.

He read through the list until his gaze landed on one specific name: Lin Yuan.

A subtle glint flared in the Sect Master’s eyes.

’So you’re the one from the reports...’ Xue Hongzhao set the scroll aside onto a side table. His gaze crept over the thirty youths standing before him.

"Before you begin your cultivation and duties within Red Talon Hall, I will see the beasts that share your souls," Xue Hongzhao commanded, smiling faintly: "Summon your beasts."

The disciples exchanged quick stares at each other. Within seconds, the beast essence surged throughout the grand chamber.

Whoosh!

The light burst out across the floor. The beasts materialized one after another: howling wolves, shrieking falcons, hissing serpents, bears, deer, boars, and foxes. Those with refined cultivation manifested solid beasts, while those still in Baby Beast Realm Mid Stage and low projected their phantoms.

The hall hummed with various spiritual auras. Lin Yuan raised his hand calmly. His small turtle beast appeared beside his feet, its emerald shell shimmering with a soft light. At the same time, the sect master sensed the multiple beasts inside Lin Yuan.

Xue Hongzhao’s eyes locked straight onto Lin Yuan.

Screech!

The massive Phoenix behind the throne suddenly jolted its head up, letting out an ear-shattering screech, its eyes blinking as it locked on Lin Yuan.

The temperature inside the hall spiked.

A suffocating wave of pure killing intent burst out across the chamber.

The Phoenix obscured instantly, diving down toward Lin Yuan.

’What the fuck is this?!’ Noir’s consciousness yelled inside Lin Yuan’s mind.

The beast lunged forward in a fraction of a heartbeat. Lin Yuan’s eyes widened, relying on the agility of the Moon Rabbit, he pivoted his body to the left.

The Phoenix’s talon tore through the air where his chest had been, the sheer wind pressure slicing the right sleeve of his robe into ribbons.

Lin Yuan’s chest heaving vehemently. ’This isn’t a test... I can sense pure killing intent toward me! This phoenix.. nah the sect master is trying to slaughter me!’

The Phoenix turned instantly mid-air, its massive wings snapped a gale that sent surrounding disciples tumbling across the stone floor.

"What is happening?!"

"Why is the Sect Master’s beast attacking Lin Yuan?!"

"Lin Yuan, move!"

The Phoenix opened its beak wide, a vortex of white-hot crimson flames swirling in its throat, preparing to incinerate Lin Yuan where he stood.

Lin Yuan’s calm posture vanished, replaced by a ruthless grin on his face.

"Tsk!" He clicked his tongue, calling his tigers out.

Two loud roars tore through the grand hall. The beasts shredded the upper half of Lin Yuan’s crimson robes as two magnificent white beasts materialized out of the tattoos on his back.

The male and female white tigers appeared simultaneously, their massive forepaws slammed into the Phoenix with crushing force.

The Phoenix was forcefully moved backward through the air, its aura scattering upon impact.

Thud! Thud!

The twin white tigers landed on the floor right in front of Lin Yuan, their claws gouged deep spider-webbed craters into the floor, letting out low growls that rattled the bronze braziers.

A terrifying shockwave rippled through the main hall, nearly knocking the elder guards off their feet.

An eerie silence fell over the room. Every single disciple stood frozen in pure terror.

Standing before Lin Yuan there were two legendary white tigers. Their silver-white fur shimmered under the light, their obsidian stripes shone with power, and their golden eyes emanated a pressure that suppressed every other beast in the room.

Xue Hongzhao sat on his throne, staring down at the two predators.

Then, a slow, boisterous laugh escaped from his mouth. "Hahaha..."

The Sect Master’s eyes gleamed with satisfaction. "My instincts were always correct!"

He rose slowly to his feet, descending one step down the stairs.

"Lin Yuan," Xue Hongzhao called, waving his robes slightly under his hand.

"What is the meaning of this?" Lin Yuan stood behind his tigers, his breathing slightly frantic from the sudden essence drain, his dark eyes locked on the Sect Master.

Xue Hongzhao looked at the twin beasts, nodding slowly. "I did not expect two legendary beasts sharing a young-boy’s aperture."

The surrounding outer disciples gasped in disbelief.

"Two... Legendary beasts?"

"He tamed two of them at the same time?!"

"Tell me... how powerful must a fifteen-year-old boy’s willpower be to command two legendary creatures of that caliber without losing his mind?" Xue Hongzhao continued, his gaze piercing through Lin Yuan.

Lin Yuan’s expression slowly returned to its usual calmness. "They follow me according to their own will."

Xue Hongzhao smiled faintly and raised his right hand.

The Phoenix spread its wings, resting smoothly on the calm perch behind the throne again.

"I apologize for the sudden hostility," Xue Hongzhao spoke with calm.

The disciples looked on in shock as the Sect Master offered an explanation.

"In Red Talon Hall, there should be no hidden secrets. Especially when those secrets involve the strength of one’s beast cultivation." The Sect Master’s voice became solemn. "I needed to see how your beasts would react when your life was placed in a hectic situation."

Lin Yuan looked at his two white tigers. Even with the Phoenix standing down, they were ready to tear the room apart if anyone took a step toward their master.

Xue Hongzhao’s smile widened. "And now I have my answer. Their loyalty to you is great."

Lin Yuan let out a steady breath and waved his hand. "Return."

The two white tiger turned their massive heads, gently nuzzling Lin Yuan’s hands before vanishing into streams of white light.

Lin Yuan’s slim, muscular body has few bruises, and scars at chest and abdomen.

Lin Yuan exhaled, steadying the beast essence inside his core. He stared down at the turtle beast resting quietly near his legs.

’Turtle,’ Lin Yuan communicated silently within his consciousness. ’Is there a way to hide the aura of multiple beasts? Walking around like a target is going to become a nuisance.’

"Hmm... There is a way!" The turtle beast paused for a moment, lingering lazily into his hand.

’How?’

"A Chameleon Beast," the turtle replied, instantly. "Preferably Rank Three or higher."

Lin Yuan’s eyebrow raised a bit. ’A Chameleon?’

"Their innate bloodline specializes in camouflage and aura concealment. If refined into your aperture, its trait would easily shroud your multiple beast signatures from other eyes."

Lin Yuan’s expression steady. ’So you’re telling me I need to go hunt and refine chameleon beast?’

The turtle beast snorted with laughter. "If you want the permanent trait, yes. Unless you enjoy announcing your full power every time a high-tier cultivator appears in your way."

Lin Yuan remained silent.

The Turtle continued, "Alternatively, you don’t necessarily have to refine one chameloeon."

’What other option is there?’

"Gathering a few Rank Three Chameleon beast cores would suffice. We can extract their essence to make a specialized Concealment Elixir. It would mask your aura just as effectively, without burdening your aperture with another beast companion."

Lin Yuan’s eyes brightened slightly. ’How many cores would that require?’

"Depends on the purity. Three standard ones, or a single core from an elite one."

Lin Yuan nodded. ’That’s far more practical. I’ll look into the sect’s mission pavilion later.’

The Turtle chuckled. "Smart choice, kid."

Xue Hongzhao turned his full attention back toward the thirty disciples.

The Sect Master’s voice resonated across every corner of the grand hall. "Today, you take your first true steps as outer disciples of this sect."

The Phoenix behind him flicked its wings once more, casting a warm crimson light across the hall.

"Welcome to Red Talon Hall!" Xue Hongzhao raised his arms, his voice booming with authority.

The thirty disciples yelled in excitement at once, their voices echoing off the pillars. Standing among the crowd, Lin Yuan pulled the remains of his torn robe together, a calm smirk appearing on his lips.
