Legendary Beast Cultivator

Chapter 99: Good Bye, Green Hollow City!!

The solemn announcement of Headmaster Lin Cangxuan slowly settled across the quiet academy courtyard.

"Did you hear that?!" Chen Ming suddenly broke the silence, slapping Lian Nichang’s shoulder. "We’re going to Red Talon Hall!"

"I heard it when the headmaster said, you loud idiot." Lian Nichang rubbed his shoulder, squinting his eyes.

"Hahaha! I just wanted to make sure you weren’t dreaming on your feet!"

"I should be asking you that," Lian Nichang retorted with a smirk.

Nearby, Huo Ren was already waving his arms excitedly, discussing the journey with Chi Fenglian and Xiao Yanrui.

"So I’ve heard Red Talon Hall has thousands of disciples!" Huo Ren boasted, his eyes wide with wonder.

"Where in the world did you hear that from?" Xiao Yanrui asked, his arms crossed with skepticism.

"My cousin’s friend’s uncle’s brother told me!"

"That is the most reliable source of information I have ever heard in my life." Chi Fenglian sneered, staring at him.

"Hahaha!"

Lin Yuan stood quietly in the crowd.

"Lin Yuan!" Chen Ming suddenly jumped over to him with a massive grin.

"Hmph?"

"We’re going to the same sect!" Chen Ming said excitedly.

"Unfortunately..." Lin Yuan waved his hand slightly.

"Unfortunately?!"

Lin Yuan nodded with a solemn expression. "I was expecting a quiet, and peaceful cultivation life."

Lian Nichang burst into laughter from behind. "Hahaha! You two are together, that poor sect is finished before you even arrive!"

"You won’t escape from your heavenly companion that easily, Lin Yuan!" Chen Ming immediately smirked, wrapping an arm around Lin Yuan’s shoulder.

"I guess! Haha!" Lin Yuan calmly lifted his hand, casually taking Chen Ming’s hand off his shoulder.

The three disciples walked out through the academy gates together, chatting under the fading afternoon sun.

For the first time, the gates behind them felt different. A few months ago, they had walked through those gates as inexperienced boys who could understand their beasts. Now, they were stepping out as good cultivators who had survived many trials.

The sun had begun sinking under the horizon when Lin Yuan reached the gates of the Qing clan residence.

He pushed open the wooden doors, stepping into the courtyard. His father, Lin Zhentian, was sitting on a chair calmly.

Lin Yuan merely looked toward his father. He walked straight past the hall, heading toward his room.

"Yuan’er," Lin Zhentian’s voice filled with irritation.

Lin Yuan answered without turning his head. "I’ll take some rest."

The door to his room swung, followed by the clicking sound in the area.

"What the hell happened to that ungrateful brat?" Lin Zhentian stared at the closed door, his knuckles tightening against the armrest.

A few minutes later, the main entrance doors opened again, and Lin Fengyu stepped into the hall, dusting off his robes. "Father..."

Lin Zhentian looked up slightly. "Where were you all afternoon?"

"At the academy grounds," Lin Fengyu replied, a calm smile appearing on his face. "The final trial results were announced. Lin Yuan was selected to take the entrance test for Red Talon Hall."

"What the fuck??" Lin Zhentian flabbergasted, rising from his chair. "Red Talon Hall?"

"Yes." Lin Fengyu nodded. "And..."

He paused, lowering his voice slightly as if still trying to understand the news himself. "He’s already in the Core Beast Realm - Lower Stage."

Lin Zhentian suddenly snapped his head toward Fengyu. "What did you just say?"

"He has reached the Core Beast Realm," Lin Fengyu said again, looking into his father’s stunned eyes. "Lower Stage."

Lin Zhentian had spent months of effort, precious clan resources, and attempting dangerous breakthrough meditations just to carve his way into the Core Beast Realm — Peak Stage.

And Lin Yuan... that boy who had been abandoned by the River of Origin barely six or seven months ago... had broken through into the Core Beast Realm at fifteen years of age.

’How?’ Lin Zhentian thought, his fingers quivering vehemently. ’What on earth happened to that child inside those mountains?’

"I am going to speak with him," Lin Zhentian muttered, clicking his tongue.

Inside the quiet room, Lin Yuan sat cross-legged upon a mat beside his bed. A faint wave lingered in the beast essence pool.

Knock! Knock!

"Come in," Lin Yuan said calmly, not breaking his stillness.

The door swung open, and Lin Zhentian stepped inside, closing the door behind him.

For a few moments, father and son simply stared at each other in the dim candlelight.

"I heard..." Finally, Lin Zhentian cleared his throat, breaking the silence. He paused awkwardly, unused to speaking to Lin Yuan without scolding him, "you were selected for Red Talon Hall."

"Yes," Lin Yuan looked up, his dark eyes unreadable.

"That’s good!"

An awkward silence settled over the room.

Lin Zhentian coughed into his clenched wrist. "You’ve done well, my son..."

Praise? From this rotten old bastard?’ Lin Yuan’s left eyebrow rose slightly. ’How fascinating.’

"Thank you," Lin Yuan replied calmly.

Lin Zhentian nodded once. Then, his expression changed, the warmth vanishing as his gaze turned demanding. "I want to know the truth about something."

Lin Yuan remained silent, waiting for the question.

"How did you break through into the Core Beast Realm so quickly?" Lin Zhentian grunted, taking a deliberate step forward.

"Isn’t it obvious?" Lin Yuan’s eyes narrowed slightly. "I cultivated."

"Don’t play games with me, Yuan’er," Lin Zhentian’s face spasmed with anger.

"I am not playing any games, father,"

"You reached the Core Beast Realm in a matter of months!" Lin Zhentian’s voice rose. "Do you think I’m a fool? Do you think I don’t know how beast cultivation works?!"

"I don’t have to explain every single detail of my life to you," Lin Yuan slowly stood up from the mat, adjusting down his robes.

Lin Zhentian clenched his fists, his voice cracking. "I am your father!"

"And?" Lin Yuan stared at his enraged father.

That single word makes Lin Zhentian more angry.

Lin Zhentian’s face spasmed with dangerous suspicion. "Tell me the truth now."

"About what?"

"Are you practicing demonic methods to force your breakthrough?!"

A faint, mocking sneer appeared on Lin Yuan’s lips.

"Demonic methods?" Lin Yuan chuckled, his voice devoid of warmth. "I don’t fucking need any demonic methods to surpass you, Father."

Lin Zhentian’s eyes widened in sheer anger.

Lin Yuan took a calm, deliberate step forward, his eyes locking onto the older man. "Perhaps you were the one who required those methods to crawl your way up, old man."

An immense aura erupted from Lin Zhentian’s body. Behind his back, the snarling silhouette of his fox beast appeared.

"You filthy brat—!" Lin Zhentian roared, raising a hand.

The door swung open as Lin Fengyu rushed inside, his face pale. "Father, stop—!"

Before Lin Fengyu could take another step, Lin Yuan moved. His right hand thrust forward like lightning.

A phantom of a white tiger’s claw appeared around Lin Yuan’s fingers. The sharp claw came to a halt mere inches from Lin Zhentian’s neck.

Lin Fengyu’s eyes quivered in sheer terror, and his father froze, gulping in fear. The aura behind him faltered. A bead of sweat slowly crawled down his cheek.

"I am not an idiot who will sit here and receive hypocritical scoldings from a rotten bastard..." Lin Yuan’s eyes shimmered with sheer anger, "who didn’t give a damn about his son the second that crazy-ass River of Origin rejected him."

The room became so quiet that only the faint rustle of wind from the window could be heard.

Lin Zhentian stared at the hand hovering before his neck. For the first time in his life... he saw something in his son’s eyes that was far more terrifying than anger or hatred.

Lin Yuan slowly lowered his hand, the white tiger’s claw vanishing into thin air.

"Leave my room," Lin Yuan said simply, turning his back.

Lin Zhentian turned back and walked out without saying anything.

Lin Fengyu stepped behind him. "Father—"

"Don’t follow me!" Lin Zhentian yelled, waving his sleeve.

Lin Fengyu immediately stopped, watching his father walk out into the courtyard of the residence.

Under the night sky, Lin Zhentian stood alone on the stones, his body trembling with rage and humiliation. He stared up into the heavens, his teeth gritting.

"I will rip your guts apart..." Lin Zhentian whispered, his voice filled with malice. "...my dear son."

The gates of Green Hollow Academy were filled with hundreds of people. The disciples carried travel bags, refined medicinal herbs, and extra sets of robes. The families crowded around their departing children.

But, Lin Yuan stood alone and still. He had told nobody in the Qing clan about his departure time.

Chen Ming soon spotted him from across the yard and sprinted over. "Lin Yuan!"

Lin Yuan turned his head, letting out a weary sigh.

"Where’s your family?" Chen Ming looked around, raising an eyebrow. "Didn’t your father or brother come to see you off?"

"Didn’t tell them," Lin Yuan replied, adjusting his robes.

"You didn’t even say goodbye to them?!" Chen Ming stared at him.

"No."

"You’re unbelievable, man," Chen Ming sighed, shaking his head.

Lin Yuan gave a slight grin. "I’ll come back, when there’s a reason to."

Lian Nichang walked up beside them, chuckling. "That is the kind of response I expected from you, Lin Yuan."

At the front of the courtyard, Headmaster Lin Cangxuan stepped onto the stone platform. The four masters of the academy stood in a line behind him.

"Listen carefully, my dear brats!" Lin Cangxuan’s voice boomed across the area. "Wherever your paths take you across the Qinglin Continent, never forget that you carry the strength of the academy upon your backs!"

His eyes darted across the fifteen young faces with pride.

"Do not disgrace yourselves before the great sects. Do not underestimate the cruelty of the world. And most importantly..." A wide, familiar grin appeared on his face. "...don’t you dare die out there!"

"What a wonderful farewell speech!!" Chen Ming laughed, nodding slightly.

Lin Cangxuan burst into laughter. "Hahaha! Then survive the entrance examinations and prove this old man wrong!"

The disciples laughed together, bowing toward their teachers one final time.

With the farewell concluded, the disciples split into two groups, heading toward their respective caravans waiting along the main road.

The six disciples chosen for the Green Vine Sect gathered around a long, elegant jade-green carriage. Its sturdy wooden body was meticulously carved with patterns of vines, broad leaves, and lotus flowers. And engraved across both sides was the emblem of the sect: a vine wrapping around a radiant, jade sun.

The curtains fluttered gracefully from the open windows. Teng Haoran climbed first, offering a hand to his companions. Xiao Lanxue followed with quiet steps followed by Ying Yue, Yun He, Huo Luo Ren, and Chen Yu Ming.

The six disciples solemnly shut the door.

Waiting on the opposite side of the road there were two crimson caravans. Their curved roofs were painted in vermilion with gold-trimmed edges, and talon carvings were etched into the timber.

And proudly at the center of each carriage there was the symbol of Red Talon Hall: a blazing crimson talon descending from a golden sun.

The red curtains with shimmering gold threads hung.

Lin Yuan stepped aboard the first crimson caravan. Chen Ming followed by and with Lian Nichang taking the seat beside them. And finally Chi Ruyan stepped onto the caravan. Xiao Yanrui, Chi Fenglian, Huo Ren, Gu Fang Xin, and Lian Mei Lin boarded the second carriage.

Inside, the young disciples looked at one another through the open windows. And after a few seconds, the wheels slowly began turning against the road.

The gates of the academy swung wide open, allowing the three caravans out.

Lin Yuan sat quietly beside the open window, resting his chin on his palm as he watched his city slowly disappearing. His face remained calm, his eyes skimming the passing scenery.

Deep within his soul... the consciousness of Noir lingered with profound intensity.

’Haha... The old world of magic and knights I once belonged to was nothing more than a vague existence bound by petty rules. But this world... This world is truly fascinating. Tamed spirit beasts, heaven-defying cultivation, inheritances, immortality that hails,’ Lin Yuan’s fingers slowly tightened against the edge of the window. ’This time... I will never allow myself to remain like an insignificant bastard under anyone’s feet, fearing to do things according to my will!’

A faint grin slowly appeared across Lin Yuan’s lips. ’I will become an unstoppable strength in this vast world. I will climb higher than every self-proclaimed geniuses. I will shatter every limit set by heaven and earth. And finally, I will become an immortal!’

With the sheer resolve of Noir, he began his journey toward immortality in his new world!
