Eventually, Felix reached the end of the cave he had ventured through, which connected to numerous cave chambers. What he found at the end of it horrified him.

A vast forest that possessed its own ecosystem.

The enormous cave ended abruptly, its ceiling seemingly broken open above the vast forest.

At first glance, it looked like a normal forest, but...

"Master, those are not normal trees. They look like enormous fungal organisms similar to those we encountered earlier."

Moon spoke to Felix through telepathy, as though she was afraid that the creatures on the other side of the cave might hear her.

Felix did not reply. Instead, he asked Guide.

"What are the chances of surviving there?"

[Unknown. Information is insufficient, Host.]

[However, judging by the density of demonic energy inside the forest, it is best to avoid exploring it for now.]

[There is a high chance of encountering a demonic creature equal to the Lord Rank.]

Since Guide herself had suggested avoiding it, Felix resisted the urge to jump into the forest.

The possibility of encountering a demonic creature equal to the Lord Rank was the final nail in the coffin.

He merely scrutinized the forest from his position.

The forest did not possess sunlight, yet strangely, it was as clear as the outside world.

Felix immediately understood that, similar to the other cave chambers he had encountered, fungi, mineral materials, and moths frequently provided illumination throughout the forest.

Felix did not even consult Guide about his decision. He simply turned around and returned to his team.

Just in time, his team had finally achieved a breakthrough in their Aura control and entered the cave network.

They first met Felix, who had already finished his personal exploration.

The beast tamers and beasts gathered in front of him.

Felix said, "I explored every cave chamber in the cave network. At the end of the cave network lies another underground ecosystem that is difficult for us to explore at our current level."

The beast tamers and beasts were astonished.

Not only had Felix explored every cave chamber alone, but he had actually reached the end of the cave network.

As if that were not enough, the cave network extended even deeper until it connected to an underground ecosystem.

The beast tamers and beasts were unwilling.

However, Felix’s tone was resolute and irrefutable. They had no choice but to follow him when he turned around and began walking toward the first cave chamber.

When Felix entered, it took some time before another beast tamer followed him.

If Felix had not had Ember illuminate the dark chamber, they might not have found the courage to enter at all.

What they saw inside the chamber terrified them.

A snake measuring up to thirty meters in length had been severed into two pieces.

Its head was as large as an enormous beast. They could not imagine the casualties they would have suffered if they had fought against it alone.

The way the snake had been severed...

It appeared that they could not even put up any resistance against Felix.

Just how monstrously strong is Felix?

I doubt he even had to use Moon to kill it!

Such thoughts appeared in their minds, leaving them both awestruck and terrified.

They wondered...

Will we suffer the same fate if we continue to doubt and resist his orders?

A chill ran down their spines just thinking about it.

Felix stopped in front of the pool and turned around.

Every beast tamer and beast suddenly found themselves straightening their backs and lifting their chins, awaiting Felix’s order.

Felix frowned.

What’s with their funny reaction?

He said, "I want you all to butcher the snake and carry the edible parts. If you use fire energy to cook it, it can be eaten."

The beast tamers and beasts were surprised.

Although they were skeptical, not a single one of them questioned Felix.

Without hesitation, they skinned the snake. It took them hours because of the toughness of its scales. They then began tearing apart the meat and storing it in their storage rings.

In fact, after they and their beasts became exhausted midway through butchering the tough scales and meat of the snake, they wanted Felix to help them instead of just staring at them and wandering aimlessly around the cave chamber.

However, who would have the guts to tell him:

Felix, work your ass off, as well!

They grew even more exasperated when Felix cast an annoyed expression at them for taking such a long time to accomplish the task.

How they wished they also possessed a Unique Rank sword.

In the end, they could only grumble and curse inwardly while Felix decided to meditate with his beasts.

Hours later, Moon lightly tapped his shoulder, awakening him.

What remained of the Hollow Snake was its head and organs, including its long vertebrae, as though thousands of ants had already eaten the rest of it.

Felix stood up and faced the beast tamers and beasts, who had already cleaned themselves with water energy.

He smirked, which only vexed them even more.

He said, "Are your storage rings full?"

One of them immediately said, "Yes."

Another expressed the same single word after another.

But obviously...

They lied.

Felix saw through them and did not bother pursuing the matter.

He did not want to waste his time letting them collect more edible parts from the Hollow Snake he had killed anyway.

At the same time, a single Hollow Snake could already feed the entire population of the Obsidian Wing for a week.

He believed that the world they were in possessed far more edible food.

He walked past them and left the cave chamber.

He also had them skin and butcher the insectoid predators for eating and research purposes.

As for the other cave where he had not disturbed the entire colony, he had the beast tamers and beasts take a look inside one after another.

If Felix had to estimate the time it took them to explore every cave chamber, three days should have already passed.

As Commander Beast Tamers, they usually only needed to eat twice a week to fill their stomachs.

As for drinking water, water energy was an acceptable replacement, though some of them had their own natural sources of drinking water.

When they were finished, they finally left the cave.

They soon discovered that Krisha and Doctor Eleanor’s team were fighting against Cliff Shadow Howlers and Razorwing Harpies.

After discovering that Felix’s team had finally concluded their exploration, Krisha and Doctor Eleanor ordered their team to immediately finish off the horde of Cliff Shadow Howlers and Razorwing Harpies.

It only took them an hour.

Doctor Eleanor’s exploration team finally regrouped, and to their surprise, the Aura emitted by Felix’s team was more stabilized and refined than that of the others.

They could not help but inquire what had happened to them, and the beast tamers boastfully narrated their encounter.

Doctor Eleanor and Krisha were astonished to hear about Felix’s team’s encounter.

Felix simply shrugged as Doctor Eleanor and Krisha interrogated him.

"Not a single one of them died or was seriously injured. There’s no need to make a fuss over it!"

"There is!" Krisha said, huffing heavily in vexation.

"Even if they are safe, you should have considered your own well-being. What would you do if a powerful creature, as strong as Sky Marshal Kaelor, ambushed you?"

Felix snorted.

"As if I would enter without understanding the situation first. I’m meticulous, you know."

Krisha could not retort.

She sighed helplessly.

"You should not be conceited, Felix. I hope you are not."

"I’m not." Felix shook his head. "If I were, I would have long jumped into that underground ecosystem."

Fair enough.

Every beast tamer and beast thought the same.

At the same time, they marveled at Felix’s restraint.

It was clear that he loved to fight, especially against powerful demonic creatures.

In fact, he had sparred against Master Shen many times before.

Just from his facial expressions whenever he swung his sword against Master Shen, it was obvious that he loved fighting opponents stronger than himself.

I guess he also fears death.

Everyone thought so.

Now that the matter was settled, Doctor Eleanor clapped her hands and said, "Our exploration can be classified as successful. We will proceed one step at a time."

Felix’s eyes widened.

"You mean we will eventually explore the underground ecosystem?"

The beast tamers and beasts simultaneously turned their heads toward him in shock.

So he was not truly afraid, after all!

They shouted in their minds, but they could not bring themselves to say it to his face.

From Felix’s team’s narration of their time with him, it was clear that opposing him would eventually amount to a death sentence.

Still, they would rather die by his sword than be eaten by terrifying demonic creatures.

They quickly sent pleading gazes toward Doctor Eleanor, but their efforts proved futile.

"That’s right," Doctor Eleanor said. "One step at a time."
