Chapter 100: Chapter 100: Yes, It’s Over

Without a chest, there is no heart. Without a heart, a human must die.

A strange thought surfaced in Player 3’s mind.

It made him give up all struggle and resistance in an instant.

BANG~

The gun went off, hitting him in the chest.

Player 3 didn’t make a sound, nor did he struggle in his final moments. He just fell stiffly onto the table as trickles of blood seeped from his eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. He died on the spot.

Then, his form gradually faded from his seat...

In truth, as a veteran player, he wasn’t without a chance to block that shot. After all, it was only imbued with three streams of power, and one of them was his own.

With the characteristics of the [Curse] system, his power could have formed some kind of curse at the critical moment. He could have secretly jinxed someone, weakened the gunshot’s power, or even made the bullet veer off course.

He might have been injured, but he wouldn’t have died.

But he chose to give up resisting...

"Why him?"

Player 6, who had taken on the role of commentator, spoke in a tone of disbelief:

"I’ve crossed paths with him a few times; we’ve traded wins and losses. He was definitely one of the toughest players at this table. Even if he were eliminated with a severe injury, it shouldn’t have cost him his life."

But Player 5, who was sitting to the side, just sneered disdainfully.

"Hmph. The [Curse] system? Just a bunch of trash. Continue!"

With that, he began to infuse his power into the small toy figure again.

Player 2, sitting opposite him, followed suit, unwilling to be outdone.

The others, of course, had no desire to play along with their nonsense. They each leaned back in their chairs, looking as if they were just waiting for the two of them to finish their little game.

So the small figure continued to spin, finally pointing to Player 8’s seat.

But there was no one there anymore, only a gruesome pool of blood.

"What’s going on? Did it malfunction?"

Player 1 asked, somewhat puzzled.

BANG~

The gun went off again.

"AHHH!!!"

It was followed by a piercing scream.

Player 1 looked down at the bloody hole in her chest and opened her mouth.

"This... is wrong..."

Before she could finish, she was eliminated from the game.

The toy gun had clearly been aimed at the empty seat 8, but the one who got shot was Player 1 next to it.

"This game... something doesn’t feel right, does it?"

Player 6 felt a chill run down his spine. As if realizing something, he turned to look at Player 7 beside him and asked:

"Was that you again?"

"Guess."

Player 7 said with a hint of a smile, then released a stream of power and infused it into the small toy figure.

The few remaining players gritted their teeth and infused their power as well.

The small toy figure, now carrying five portions of power, began to dance and spin again. The barrel of the gun swept past everyone’s chests, round and round.

Everyone held their breath, staying quiet and focused, waiting for the right moment to act.

’If they took a shot like this, there was no way they’d survive...’

But this time, the small toy figure seemed to be feeling mischievous. It spun for several rounds without any sign of slowing down.

This only made the already tense players even more anxious, as if a cat were scratching at their insides.

Seeing this, Player 7 quickly analyzed the situation:

"Oh? It seems we’ve thrown in too many ’chips,’ making it spin for so long... But if that’s the case, it must have also become exceptionally ’heavy.’ I’m afraid one person’s power alone won’t be enough to change the final outcome, right?"

The moment he said that, the air in the room seemed to freeze.

When one person’s power isn’t enough to change the gun’s direction, they need help from others...

But everyone here was a stranger to one another...

"Everyone, together! Let’s take out Player 5 first!"

Player 6, taking advantage of his talkative nature, was the first to rally the others.

At that, the small figure’s speed suddenly dipped as if it was about to stop completely. The barrel slowly began to aim at Player 5’s chest.

Player 5 didn’t dare act tough anymore and hurriedly defended himself:

"Don’t listen to him! It’s all Player 7’s doing, trying to sow discord! He’s been targeting people since the game began—first that newcomer, and now me!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the small figure suddenly regained its energy, swept past Player 5’s chest, and pointed at Player 6.

Player 6 froze for a moment, then quickly released his power to touch the small figure, trying to turn the barrel away. He also started to argue frantically:

"Why me? I clearly..."

BANG~

His defense was cut short by the sound of a gunshot.

"Cough... urgh..."

Player 6 coughed up a mouthful of blood, clutching his chest, which now resembled a honeycomb, as he disappeared from his seat.

It was clear he had some skill, to not have been killed on the spot by such a devastating blow.

But whether he could survive after such a grievous injury was another question entirely...

Only four players remained.

"What happened? Why was Player 6 eliminated... Was that you?"

Player 2 asked Player 4.

Player 4 paused, stunned. He shook his head and looked at Player 7 across from him.

"This guy is weird. Let’s get rid of him first!"

With that, he released his power again, making the small figure start to spin.

The other two quickly followed suit.

But Player 7 just leaned back in his high-backed chair, as if he had given up.

As a result, after a short spin, the small figure pointed at Player 4...

Player 4’s eyes went wide, completely unable to comprehend this outcome.

He hurriedly mobilized his power to resist, but with his power alone, it was difficult to fight against two others...

BANG~

A bloody hole appeared in Player 4’s chest, and he was brutally eliminated.

Whether he could survive afterward was up to Destiny to decide.

"Three people left... Heh, it looks like the winner is obvious."

Player 5, seemingly aware that the others’ strength was no match for his own, put on an air of someone who had victory in his grasp. He glanced at Player 2 opposite him, then turned his head to look at the last remaining player, number 7.

"Yeah... it’s over."

Player 7 said in a low voice, then collapsed onto the table in front of him.

A huge, bloody hole suddenly appeared on his chest. His eyes were wide open, veins bulged on his forehead, and the whites of his eyes were filled with blood vessels. He looked as if he couldn’t die in peace.

But the small toy figure hadn’t moved at all, and no gunshot had sounded.

Player 5 stared, stunned, then whipped his head around to look at the other remaining player, number 2.

Just a moment ago he was speaking, but now he was slumped back in his high-backed chair, his chest a mangled mess of flesh and blood. The blood had already dried and congealed; there was no telling how long he’d been dead.

"What... What’s going on?"

His voice began to tremble slightly.

Then, he noticed the small toy figure starting to dance and spin.

But the toy gun didn’t follow the figure’s movements. Instead, it contorted in a bizarre Twist and slowly pointed at him.

But he was clearly the only one left.

"What in the world is going on?!"

Player 5 roared, struggling furiously in his high-backed chair.

Then, he heard someone answer his question:

"Only realizing something’s wrong now? Heh, the [Suffering] system... so much for that."

Player 5 tilted his head slightly and saw Player 7, who was slumped on the table, the corner of his mouth curling into a strange arc.

BANG~

With the final gunshot, a terrifying, spiral-shaped wound appeared on Player 5’s chest. Gush after gush of blood erupted from it. He didn’t even have time to be eliminated before he died on the spot.

The game had finally decided its winner.

’These people... not much skill, but plenty of schemes...’

Lloyd was still sitting in the original seat 8. He frowned and closed the [Twisted Realm].

He had remained unharmed from beginning to end. The one who had truly been blasted into a pile of mangled flesh was Player 7, who had been trying to screw him over.

Then, he had become Player 7 in everyone else’s eyes and continued the game.

Although Lloyd didn’t know what the others had seen under the influence of the [Twisted Realm], he could guess a few things from their physical reactions and words as they were eliminated, so he mentally assessed his opponents.

Player 7, who was so focused on screwing over the newcomer first, ended up being the first one to die.

Player 3, who was always secretly raising the stakes to try and backstab others, had inexplicably given up resisting.

Player 1 was eliminated completely off-guard. Just as defenseless was Player 2, who thought the figure was still spinning when it was actually already aimed at him.

He hadn’t died a bizarre death like in Player 5’s vision; he had been eliminated silently.

But the injuries those two received were relatively light; they might still survive.

Players 6 and 4 had it worse. They wanted to take out others first, but ended up severely injured themselves.

As for the final player, number 5, he was confident for the entire game but only realized something was wrong just before he died.

"Whew... This game is pretty dangerous... I should avoid joining these kinds of life-threatening games in the future."

Lloyd summarized his experience of the game.

This game didn’t necessarily have to be lethal, but whether one could live after being severely injured depended on their own abilities.

And as Lloyd saw it, the players in this game actually all had a few tricks up their sleeves.

If they had been able to use their strength normally, the final outcome might have been uncertain.

But with their thoughts, Cognition, and perceptions all Twisted, they couldn’t use their strength at all.

Lloyd, on the other hand, aside from being set up by the adjacent Player 7 in the very first round, was never shot at again.

Even when the gun was aimed at seat 8, the one who got shot in the end was the adjacent Player 1.

Lloyd knew this definitely wasn’t because his luck was that good, nor was it because the small toy figure had taken a liking to him.

He looked down at his own hand and slowly clenched it into a fist.

’Is this the power of the [Twist]?’

’Evil, bizarre, but powerful...’

’I’m starting to like it more and more?’

He nodded, an involuntary smile appearing on his lips.

Just then, the small toy figure suddenly split in half. Streamers shot out from inside, and a strange melody played, congratulating the final winner.

The streamers danced in the air for a moment before transforming into a ribbon of light that shot into Lloyd’s pocket.

He quickly reached into his pocket and pulled out the gold-plated business card.

A ’1’ symbol had been added to it.
