Tyler watched his friends, especially Sophie who was standing next to Shadow while giving encouraging words to the group. It made him smile.

"Seriously, nice job Amanda. Those buffs were super helpful and Adam, your fangs really made that last strike easier. Great decision on being the bait Tyler! Ash and Shadow were amazing!" Sophie said while petting the wolf, who happily wagged her tail enjoying the love.

Amanda blushed and was just thankful to help. Adam felt bad for not seeing them sooner and Tyler was winded.

"Quick, we have to extract their crystal hearts. They’re worth credits!" Adam exclaimed.

"Huh?" Tyler said as he watched Adam and Sophie dig through the corpses and pull out two crystalized hearts.

"These are only gold ranked hearts, so they’re not very clear. The clearer they are, the higher tier beast it came from and the more they’re worth," Amanda explained to Tyler

"Oh, cool. Thank you. You guys should keep them. I’m just glad you came with me."

"Seriously? Well here, Amanda you take mine," Adam said with a smile.

"No, it’s ok, really. I’ll be fine."

"Adam keep yours, she can have mine," Sophie said with a smile. "I kind of owe her for being such a bitch to her. You did great today."

"Thank you Sophie, you did as well. I appreciate this."

"You’re welcome, holy shit everyone it’s 12:30 AM!" Tyler exclaimed.

Shadow jogged south, so they followed. They eventually reached the entrance.

"Well, the good news is there aren’t many guards out." Adam said.

"Yeah, but we smell like blood and sweat," Sophie complained.

They all sneaked back to Tyler’s apartment, where Adam and Amanda crashed. Sophie went back to her apartment and took a quick shower.

’That was the most fun I’ve had in a long time... maybe these people are worth being friends with.’ She thought before she fell asleep.

Amanda woke up at 6 am to her phone’s alarm and realized it was at 5%. She smiled and snuck out as quickly as she could and was thankful no one said anything to her. She rushed back to her room, took a shower, got ready and headed for the cafeteria. She was thankful to see Sophie sitting with her friends. Sophie waved her over, so after she ordered her breakfast she went over and sat with their group.

"I’m really tired," Amanda laughed.

"Yeah, me too. It’s going to be a long day." Sophie said while yawning.

Adam and Tyler finally walked into the cafeteria and gave them a friendly wave. They smiled and exchanged the wave as the guys got in line and ordered their food. Once they finally sat down, they realized they only had about 15 minutes to eat, so Tyler was glad he already let Shadow and Ash out back. They returned quickly inside him afterwards.

"What a crazy night bro," Adam laughed, Orochi sleeping peacefully around his neck.

"Yeah, but it was pretty awesome you could use blood attacks like that!"

"Well, that is a pretty common vampire thing..."

"Yeah, but you can tame beasts too, that’s what makes it so interesting and cool. Like Sophie is a human mage with insane sword-skill, Amanda is an elf who can heal and cast support magic, Zain is a demon paladin, Katy’s a werewolf who can use fire. I’m mind-blown at all the different types of people who go here."

"True that. Sorry bro I’m just really tired. Last night was exhausting."

"Yeah, Ash and Shadow are both passed out right now," Tyler laughed, then yawned.

The day was long and boring, even their practical classes. The four paired up for dueling and didn’t put much effort into fighting, which didn’t go unnoticed by their professor.

"Everything ok with you four today?"

"Yup, just burnt out. We trained a little too hard together last night." Sophie said quietly.

"Well at least you are training. That is good, but do not overdo it! You cannot become S rank in a day. These things take time, practice and patience." He said kindly before walking away.

’Well, at least we have good teachers,’ Tyler smiled.

After they enjoyed lunch, they were more tired than they were before and they all agreed after classes they were going to rest. Before they went their separate ways, Amanda wanted to talk to Sophie about something.

"What’s up? Everything ok?"

"Yeah... I was just wondering, do you mind if I hang out and get some rest in your apartment? My dorm roommate always has her boyfriend over and they’re kind of annoying."

"I mean, you can, but I have a roommate as well. Why don’t you ask Tyler? He lives solo and I’m sure he wouldn’t mind if you rested over there." Sophie said cheerfully.

"Well if you have a roommate why wouldn’t you just go rest over there?’ She asked.

"I am, that’s why I’m saying you should come too. He’s a really nice guy, he even offered me his bed. You could lay in there with me, he said it’s really comfortable and it’s a King size!"

"Are you sure? I don’t know, I’ll just be a burden."

"Come on Amanda, stop thinking like that! We are your friends. Text him?"

"Ok...I guess." She frowned.

"Hey Tyler, do you mind if I nap over at your apartment? My roommate has a boyfriend and they’re super loud and annoying."

She didn’t have to wait long for a response.

"Yeah, for sure, I’ll leave the door unlocked. Sophie’s crashing here too, so you can sleep wherever. I’ll see you soon, unless I’m sleeping. Wake me up before you leave though, ok?"

She smiled while reading his text and Sophie raised her eyebrow.

"He wants me to wake him up before he leaves, that’s all. I thought it was cute."

"He said the same thing to me. Hm. I guess he really is just a good person?" Sophie asked Amanda.

"Yeah, I think so. Anyway, at least we can get some rest."

After their final classes were done for the day, Tyler said later to Adam and let him know the girls would be napping at his place for a while.

The two girls let themselves in and saw Tyler was sleeping peacefully on his couch. He left out extra blankets and pillows for both girls, despite already having a bed full of them.

’So thoughtful.’ Amanda thought while admiring him in his sleep.

They both enjoyed the privacy of his luxurious apartment and loved that he had blackout curtains in his room. It didn’t take long before Sophie was sleeping peacefully.

Amanda couldn’t fall asleep right away. She was fighting her inner thoughts about how people always treated her versus the way she had been treated ever since she met Tyler. He was like a godsend to her, and she looked up to him because of it.

She also really liked Sophie. She’d never met someone who treated her like everyone else did but consistently made a conscious effort to apologize and make up for it. She was looking forward to getting to know Adam and everyone else, including all of Sophie’s friends she was sitting with every day.

’I don’t know...’ She thought while lying down in Tyler’s bed, listening to Sophie’s peaceful breathing.

’I just hope I’m able to keep up with them. I don’t want to be left behind.’

She finally fell asleep.

After a few hours, they both woke up. The girls kept their promise and woke Tyler. He hugged them and thanked them for trusting him. He also was super apologetic for all the problems in the forest of unknowns, but Sophie told him she was happy he took charge. Amanda returned the apology, but the two girls left together happily, hand in hand.

’That’s so sweet. They’re becoming great friends.’ Tyler thought before heading to his bed.

’I’m just going back to sleep. I’m so over-tired.’
