After exploring the rest of his one bedroom luxury apartment, Tyler decided to check out the Ability Academy Campus. It looked similar to a big time university back on Earth, but he knew he was in a different Universe.
The Orion galaxy was similar but had life on other planets. His new planet, Vexarra, and campus hosted a diverse group of races with a mix of ability users. Vampires who could tame beasts, demons who could use healing magic, human mages, and elven paladins were a few of the mix and match combinations Tyler noticed while patrolling the prestigious University.
Despite being Saturday, the campus was alive, buzzing with students who arrived in a consistent flow. Everyone was required to live on campus, whether they were in year one or year three. Some shared dorms, others had apartments. Tyler was sitting alone in the cafeteria eating a hot meal, free of charge and noticed plenty of people were looking at him, wondering who he was.
’Hey system, why is everyone looking at me?’
[Many of these students know each other and you are a completely new person. You should inform people you were home schooled until your parents passed away over the summer.]
’Isn’t that a lie though? I’m not really good at lying.’
[You did not exist on this planet until about three hours ago and the parents assigned to you were deceased. If you wish to tell them the truth, by all means please do. They will probably laugh at you and tell you you’re insane.]
’Least the thing is honest and I have Ash.’
"Yeah poor loner boy can’t meet new friends even with that group of pretty women staring and giggling. Do you have any perception skills?" Ash teased.
"I had a girlfriend for so long I guess I stopped noticing. There are a lot of gorgeous women. Actually, there’s a lot of attractive people in general here. Kinda weird."
"Most kids dream of coming here and they only accept the best, or richest. I lived a life here once with another ability user. He struggled with fire magic with a Phoenix. How is that even possible? I swear the gods hate me."
Tyler laughed.
"Then I’m doomed? Shit, that sucks."
"Ha. Ha. So funny. Stick to looking good, kid. You should probably make some friends or something. Maybe try introducing yourself to some people?"
"Maybe later. I kind of want to just get used to this new body. It’s weird seeing myself with dark hair and green eyes. I also want to try to put on some muscle like I had on Earth, I feel like a twig."
[Summoners are not typically strong fighters. They rely on their heavy magical prowess to summon beasts or use their familiar’s abilities as their own.]
’So, system you’re saying I can’t be physically strong? What are my current stats?’
[Strength 14
Charisma 29
Wisdom 27
Mana 25
Dexterity 10
Constitution 14
Spirit 29
You will obtain stat points when leveling up. You gain experience by defeating monsters, winning duels, performing well in school and can gain additional quests or experience at random.]
’Woah so I don’t have a cap?’
[Leveling up varies by user. The more work you put in, the more you are rewarded. Although SSS is the highest rank, it will take time perfecting your craft and requires many strong Eidolons to just reach the 100 cap that comes with SSS. You can go beyond that threshold because the gods created a unique system for you.]
’Wait, you said familiars. What’s an Eidolon?’
[Eidolons live in the Land of Summoned Monsters, a different realm. You must be a higher rank to learn more.]
’What’s my level and experience at?’
[level 1 0/100].
"Well, this is actually really good. Maybe the gods didn’t screw me this time. Those are pretty good stats for a newbie. Eidolons can become familiars, they’re just stronger than beasts."
"Really?! That’s good to know, thanks Ash! Should we train or something? I want to level up as quick as I can!"
"Go run or lift weights. We will practice once in a while. I’m still just an infant Phoenix buddy, sorry! Once I’m back to adolescence we can train all you’d like!"
"Sounds good! If you ever want out you don’t need my permission, just go ahead. I don’t want to keep you locked up like you’re in a cage."
"Bless these cursed gods!"
"That doesn’t make any sense..."
"Whatever! I’m just happy I have someone who isn’t a moron, I think!"
Ash flew out Tyler’s chest l, perching beautifully on his shoulder.
"Is that a Phoenix?!!" A beautiful blonde elf screamed with joy.
"It is! What a lucky guy!" Another beautiful human girl gushed.
"What a lucky asshole!" A vampire moaned.
"Bro come on... I have a lame ass fish and this dude gets a Phoenix?"
Tyler didn’t notice, but a group of third years were giving him a nasty look.
’That kid better hope I don’t smash his stupid phoenix,’ one of them thought angrily.
"Blake, we have to crush this kid, right?" A dark haired muscular third year asked his blonde friend quietly.
"Tim, I was just thinking the same thing. Someone so pathetic doesn’t deserve a phoenix. I think I’ll take him for my own collection," Blake whispered.

"Now would be a good time to make friends but I need you to take me outside, if you know what I mean."
"Yeah of course buddy. Thanks for not shitting all over me again, although it was pretty funny."
Ash laughed and the two walked out of the cafeteria as Tyler made his way out back. While walking the halls, people continued to stop stare and make comments, some friendly, some negative. Tyler didn’t care. He was used to being the center of attention anyways.
As he got to the back, he noticed a beautiful courtyard garden area so he decided to take a look. There were other students around. Some had their beast out, some just hanging out with friends, and Tyler realized he was pretty alone in this world, aside from his system and his familiar.
Ash flew off him to relieve himself and darted back into Tyler’s chest to the gasps and chirping of the jealous people around him. He didn’t feel like standing around, so he turned to head for the gym. He struggled lifting weights, a new feeling, doing this with ease in his past life.
He was pleased with jogging, although he was winded much more quickly than he would have liked.
’I miss my old body, but I was gifted this amazing class with a mythical beast so I have to try my hardest!’
Tyler took off running again when someone yelled, "You’re slow as fuck, what a waste of a Phoenix!"
Tyler turned and noticed it was a large, muscular older student dressed in fancy clothes with a bunch of medals hanging from his school blazer.
’Looks like my letterman jacket, whatever.’
He kept running absent-mindedly, and as he turned his head, he couldn’t stop himself.
"Hey! Look-out!" was all he heard before he accidentally knocked a young woman over.
"Oh my gosh I am so sorry! I totally didn’t mean to do that." Tyler pleaded sincerely with the girl he ran into.
"Way to go jackass. She’s beautiful and your first pick up attempt is to trample her. Looks like I do have a dumbass host again." Ash chuckled.
Tyler turned to help the young woman up and paused for a second.
’How does someone have pretty blue eyes with brunette hair?’
"That hurt!" She complained.
"Here, let me help you up. I am so sorry I’m Tyler and I’m new here. I just didn’t look where I was going."
"Sophie. Thanks."
Tyler extended his arm and helped her stand up, noticing she had a few cuts and scrapes, but nothing serious.
’System, is there any healing spell I can use to help her?’
[Yes. Command me to use healing magic. I will take care of it if you are able to touch her.]
"Be a gentleman! Don’t need her slapping you for being a jackass."
"Hey Sophie, I feel really bad about hurting you. Do you mind if I use some healing magic?"
He watched in amazement as she effortlessly used her hands to heal herself, mesmerized by her skill and beauty.
"Woah. You’re amazing...at least let me make it up to you in a different way? Maybe we could grab coffee or something?"
"What’s coffee? Is your head ok?" She asked politely while laughing a little.
"Ask her if she’ll join you for a potion in the lounge."
Despite being confused, he just went with his familiar’s suggestion.
"Ha, sorry yeah, I guess I did hit my head pretty hard. Will you join me for a potion in the lounge? I’m new to this area and don’t know anyone."
