Solomon walked back toward the training rings. The floating bronze owl bobbed alongside his shoulder. The blue interface lit up with questions regarding his upcoming roster.
[1Fizzy: so who are you going to pick for this?]
[Mezz_3863: bro has to become a teacher now.]
[Fatal_Beauty: please pick the princess!]
[James_hayes: he is going to pick the easiest targets.]
"The pavilion master said I can pick anyone," Solomon told the camera lens. "I am going to start with Marco. He already knows the first twelve steps, so he requires very little effort. Next is Maximus because he trains hard and takes things seriously. Then Arthur, and finally Elizabeth."
[Chi_Master: LMAO you literally just named the only four people you know.]
[LazyCat: bro has zero other friends.]
[Foodball: the antisocial swordmaster strikes again.]
[Austin: picking the whole squad because you refuse to talk to strangers.]
Solomon rolled his eyes and adjusted the leather strap across his chest. "Having a few great friends is vastly superior to surrounding yourself with a bunch of fake ones. Quality always beats quantity."
He reached the central courtyard and spotted the group resting near the weapon racks. He called them over and quickly explained his unfortunate predicament. He needed them to master the Azure Crane Blade in two weeks so he could earn his mandatory star.
Marco crossed his arms and nodded. "I am already practicing the thirteenth step. I am in."
"I will do it," Maximus agreed, resting his bronze shield on the ground.
Arthur pushed his spectacles up his nose and smiled. "I am always happy to help."
Elizabeth kept her hands resting on the hilt of her steel rapier. She tilted her head and stared directly at Solomon. "I will join your class if you personally guarantee my success. You must promise that I will master all thirteen steps within the time limit."
’She really expects me to hold her hand through the whole process,’ Solomon thought.
"I cannot guarantee anything," Solomon answered bluntly. "If you fail to understand the body mechanics, that is on you. I will show you the forms. The rest depends strictly on your own brain and physical coordination."
Elizabeth frowned at the direct response. She recognized the truth in his words and simply nodded her acceptance without lodging a single complaint.
Solomon guided his newly formed class away from the crowded dirt rings. They walked up the stone steps toward the VIP training grounds. The elite courtyards offered significantly more space and housed only a few prodigies who had earned access through pure skill. They grabbed wooden practice weapons and spread out across the polished cobblestones.
Before Solomon could demonstrate the first stance, Pavilion Leader Jin marched through the stone archway.
"What are you doing gathering first-year novices in the veteran courtyard?" Jin asked, looking at the confused students.
"I am completing the mission Master Wu gave me," Solomon replied, resting his greatsword against a pillar.
Jin let out a tired sigh and shook his head. "You can resume your class later. I just received a Magical Resonance Transmission from the Live Streaming Academy. The administration requested to speak with you immediately."
The pavilion leader signaled to a sentry waiting by the archway. He reached into his deep blue robes and handed Solomon a folded piece of parchment. "Follow this guard. You must only open that note after reaching the destination."
Solomon tucked the paper into his pocket and waved his class away. He followed the blue-robed guard out of the courtyard. They hiked up a secluded, overgrown mountain trail. The path twisted away from the main pavilion and ended at a hidden stone bunker near the summit. A tall metal antenna covered in glowing runes protruded from the roof, buzzing with active technomagic energy.
The guard pointed at the reinforced iron door and walked away.
Solomon pushed the door open and stepped inside the dim room. A large crystal screen sat above a console covered in carved symbols. He pulled the folded parchment from his pocket and broke the wax seal. A runic cipher address stared back at him.
He tapped the sequence into the console. The crystal screen buffered for a few seconds before flaring to life.
Professor Balzac appeared on the monitor. The messy-haired man wore his silk sleeping mask pushed up on his forehead. He aggressively chewed a handful of potato chips while staring blankly into the camera.
[1Fizzy: IT IS BALZAC!]
[James_hayes: bro is always eating or sleeping.]
[Mezz_3863: best professor in the academy.]
[Dark_Skies: look at him crunching those chips.]
A second figure stepped into the frame. The LSA Grandmaster peeked over Balzac’s shoulder. Realizing the connection was live, the elderly administrator grabbed Balzac by the collar and forcefully shoved him out of the view.
"Greetings, Solomon," the Grandmaster said, adjusting his pristine coat. "I trust the Martial World is treating you well. I reviewed your recent broadcasts. You performed exceptionally well during the cultist infiltration."
"Thank you," Solomon replied, crossing his arms.
"However, you must remember to listen to your local instructors and follow their rules," the Grandmaster lectured, pointing a stern finger at the lens. "Causing unnecessary friction with the pavilion leadership creates diplomatic headaches for the academy."
"Did you really call me just to give me a lecture?" Solomon asked.
The Grandmaster dropped his hand and shook his head. "No. The head appraiser from the Vanguard Exchange contacted my office this morning regarding the item you left in their care."
Solomon remembered the item perfectly. He had discovered a crystalline glowing orb during his first day inside the Labyrinth of Eden. He found it hidden inside a narrow tunnel within a hollow stone pillar. Fearing other streamers might track him down to steal it, he concealed the brilliant white light in his drone’s digital inventory.
He only brought it back out once for a viewer challenge before locking it away again.
Later at the Vanguard Exchange, the appraiser had reacted with pure shock upon inspecting the pure crystalline vessel. The elemental energy was so dense the standard guild equipment failed to identify its origin.
The appraiser sent it to the high-tier department for a three-day analysis, offering a baseline starting value of fifteen thousand gold coins. Solomon had explicitly forbidden the man from selling it without his final approval.
"The high-tier department finished their analysis," the Grandmaster stated. "The finalized appraisal price for the orb stands at exactly thirty thousand gold coins. The appraiser wishes to know if you are ready to sell."
