Solomon stared at her torn tunic. The color drained from his face. A look of pure horror washed over his features. His fingers went numb. The steel longsword slipped from his grasp and clattered onto the compacted earth. He dropped to his knees and reached out, gently supporting her uninjured shoulder to help her stand.
The sentinels finally broke their stupor and rushed forward to demand an explanation. Lune quickly clarified the situation, pointing at the loose gravel near her boots. She explained her awkward slip and how she had tumbled directly into his parrying blade.
The elite guards immediately escorted her out of the training grounds. They guided her back to her royal chambers, where the palace healers quickly arrived with glowing green salves and bandages.
They patched the laceration efficiently. The head healer gave a strict order, forbidding her from swinging a sword or engaging in any martial training for a full week to ensure proper recovery.
Solomon returned to his guest room in a daze. He collapsed onto his mattress and stared blankly at the wooden ceiling. The memory of the accident played on a continuous loop in his mind.
’If my footing was different, the blade would have gone deeper,’ Solomon thought, his chest tightening. ’If I had taken a single step forward during that parry, the sword might have impaled her neck. I could have killed her over a stupid sparring match.’
He did not sleep a wink. He lay awake the entire night, trapped in his own guilt. The floating bronze owl hovered quietly in the corner, projecting the somber atmosphere to his audience. The chat interface scrolled continuously with comforting messages and supportive gifts.

Morning light eventually crept through the window. Solomon remained flat on his back.
A knock echoed from the wooden door. Marco peeked his head into the room. "The dining hall is serving breakfast right now. Are you coming?"
"I am not hungry," Solomon replied, keeping his eyes fixed on the ceiling.
Marco frowned but nodded, closing the door quietly. A short while later, Arthur knocked and pushed the door open. The boy adjusted his thick spectacles and offered a nervous smile, trying to coax him out for food. Solomon gave him the exact same response.
Thirty minutes later, the door swung open with a loud thud. Elizabeth marched into the room. She wore her pristine training robes and carried a deep scowl. She did not bother asking for his preference.
She walked right up to the bed, grabbed him by the sleeve of his robe, and physically dragged him to his feet.
"You are eating," Elizabeth declared, pulling him out into the stone corridor.
Solomon lacked the motivation to argue. He let the white-haired royal drag him all the way to the grand dining hall.
The vast room was already full. Marco, Arthur, and Maximus sat near the lower end. Lord Jian, Princess Syra, and Pavilion Master Yue occupied the upper seats. Matriarch Lihua was the only notable absence from the previous night’s gathering.
Lune sat near the center of the table. Her injured arm rested in a white silk sling. She looked up and spotted Solomon entering the hall. A warm smile graced her lips.
"Good morning, Solomon," Lune greeted him cheerfully.
Solomon avoided her gaze. He kept his mouth shut and offered no reply. He walked over to the nearest empty chair and sat down. Grabbing a piece of bread, he ate his food mechanically. The vibrant conversations around the table faded into background noise for him.
Before anyone else could finish their meal, Solomon stood up from his chair. He turned his back on the banquet and walked out of the dining hall in total silence.

After finishing their own breakfast, Marco, Arthur, Maximus, and Elizabeth gathered in the corner of the dining hall to discuss their brooding teacher.
"We need to figure out a way to cheer him up," Arthur whispered, pushing his spectacles up his nose.
Marco crossed his arms and sighed. "He usually likes sparring, which obviously will not work right now."
Pavilion Master Yue approached the huddled group. She snapped her jade fan closed and tilted her head. "Should I go do something to lift his spirits?"
"Absolutely not," Marco replied immediately. "You will just make it worse."
Yue frowned deeply. She looked genuinely upset by the blunt rejection. Turning on her heel, she walked out of the hall to tend to her own business. Marco, Arthur, and Maximus eventually dispersed to prepare their training gear.
Lune stepped away from the royal table and approached Elizabeth. The white-haired royal stood alone near a marble pillar.
"You should go to him," Lune instructed, cradling her injured arm in the white silk sling.
Elizabeth blinked in confusion. "Why should I go? All of this happened because of you. Shouldn’t you be the one going to comfort him?"
Lune let out a quiet sigh. "I know exactly how his mind works. He will try to look completely fine on the outside, but he is tearing himself apart on the inside. Visiting him right now would just make him feel more guilty. Every time he looks at this sling, he will remember the accident. It is best if I stay entirely out of his sight until my arm is fully healed."
Elizabeth shifted her weight nervously. "What am I even supposed to do? I do not understand how to handle him."
Lune dropped her friendly demeanor. She looked at Elizabeth with absolute seriousness. "Do not blame me in the future when you regret missing this chance."
Lune turned around and walked out of the dining hall. Elizabeth stood by the pillar and watched her leave.
A few seconds later, she glanced at her own floating bronze owl. She read the scrolling comments from her viewers offering various pieces of advice.
"I will do it on my own," Elizabeth muttered to the camera lens.
