"I am perfectly fine now!" Elizabeth protested, tightening her grip on her steel sword. "I can stay out here and fight alongside you!"
"I know you can fight," Solomon responded, forcefully pulling her through the grand archways. "But you are their primary target. If two dozen elite assassins swarm you at once, you will not survive. Now is not the time to argue with me."
Several palace sentries spotted the white-haired royal and rushed forward. "We will escort Princess Elizabeth to her guest quarters immediately!"
"No thanks," Solomon rejected the offer instantly, entirely unwilling to trust the local military after Lord Jian’s earlier confession about corrupted knights.
He dragged Elizabeth through the winding marble corridors, initially heading toward her assigned room before abruptly changing his mind. He bypassed the standard guest wing completely, bringing her directly to Princess Syra’s premium quarters where Yue currently resided.
He pushed the heavy mahogany doors open and ushered Elizabeth inside. Yue stood in the center of the luxurious chamber, her jade fan already snapped open and glowing with spiritual energy.
"Keep her safe," Solomon instructed the pavilion master.
Yue nodded firmly, fully understanding the gravity of the situation. "I will not let a single assassin cross this threshold."
"What about Lune?" Solomon asked, glancing back toward the hallway.
"Her royal chamber is the most heavily fortified room in this entire wing," Yue assured him. "I will guard this corridor and ensure no one approaches her doors either."
Satisfied with the security arrangement, Solomon turned his attention to the floating bronze owl hovering by his shoulder.
"Listen up," Solomon ordered his audience. "I need all of you to hop over to Elizabeth’s live stream right now. Keep me constantly updated on her situation using Direct Echoes if anything happens. Also, alert Marco and others."
[GoonLord: WE ARE ON IT KING!]
[LazyCat: deploying to her stream!]
[Foodball: chat moving out!]
[Brerell: Solo Man is about to crash out.]
[Grim: switching channels now.]
Solomon sprinted out of the premium wing and dashed toward his own assigned room. He kicked the wooden door open, scooped Eden’s Penance off the floorboards, and strapped the heavy executioner’s sword securely to his back.
He bolted back into the corridor, his boots slamming against the polished marble. Spotting an open balcony overlooking the besieged training grounds, he vaulted over the stone railing and plummeted into the open sky, plummeting down to join the chaotic battle raging below.
As soon as Solomon’s boots hit the ground, he immediately spotted a dark figure shifting along the tiled roof of the nearest barracks. He pointed his free hand toward the shadow and shouted an alert to the royal archers scrambling across the courtyard.
The palace guards loosed a synchronized volley of arrows, instantly shooting the hidden attacker down.
While the surrounding soldiers fought desperately to organize their shield walls, Solomon casually paced through the gardens, glancing around to pinpoint the remaining shooters and calling out their exact coordinates for the archers.
’It makes zero sense for an evil sect to deploy only archers,’ Solomon thought to himself, watching another sniper tumble from the battlements. ’There must be ground units moving somewhere in the palace. Just like the prison break back at the Sword Pavilion, this arrow rain is merely a loud distraction.’
He bypassed the chaotic outer rings and navigated the open corridors leading toward the inner palace. He patrolled the opulent hallways, noticing the environment was unusually quiet.
The royal guards stationed at the inner checkpoints stood completely alert, their attention entirely focused on the distant shouting from the outside perimeter.
’What exactly is their plan?’ Solomon wondered, tightening his grip on the leather strap across his chest. ’Are they simply trying to harm and injure the royal guards ahead of the royal sermon so there will be fewer defenders on duty?’
There were far too many possibilities and absolutely no way to find out the truth by standing around. The royal army was clearly more than enough to handle the remaining rooftop snipers, making his presence in the outer courtyard completely unnecessary.
He turned his attention to the hovering bronze owl. "How is Elizabeth holding up?"
[James_hayes: she is safe with Yue in the premium wing.]
[Fatal_Beauty: nothing happening there so far.]
[Mezz_3863: Yue has the door locked down.]
"What about Marco and the others?" Solomon asked, continuing his patrol down the marble path.
[1Fizzy: we spammed their streams.]
[Foodball: they are awake and very cautious now.]
[Xenedra: Maximus has his shield up inside the room.]
Satisfied with their safety, Solomon reached an elevated watchtower connecting two major palace wings. He stepped onto the open stone platform and glanced around the moonlit estate.
Suddenly, a heavy set of boots landed directly behind him.
Solomon turned around and saw a masked assassin wearing the dark garments of the Crimson Bone Sect.
Normally, a standard academy student would panic and try to run away. Solomon simply let out a profound sigh of relief and grinned widely. He hauled Eden’s Penance off his back and rested it against the cobblestones.
"Welcome. I was actually getting incredibly bored," Solomon greeted the intruder.
The assassin pulled a curved sword from his scabbard and lunged across the platform. Solomon casually blocked a few standard thrusts with the flat of his blade.
He then pivoted on his heel and kicked the assassin squarely in the ribs, pushing the man backward. Capitalizing on the opening, Solomon stepped forward and cut the attacker down with a single sweeping strike.
He raised an eyebrow and scratched the back of his neck. ’Why would someone drop in to attack me completely alone like that?’
Before he could process the strange encounter, a few more assassins landed behind him, instantly forming a tight circle around his position.
Solomon looked up out of pure curiosity just as another masked fighter landed squarely in front of him.
He stared at the empty night sky. There were no rooftops or higher structures positioned directly above this watchtower.
’What the fuck? Am I high or something?’
