Lune walked up to the gates with her arm still resting in the white silk sling. She offered a knowing smirk, clearly amused by the sudden display of favoritism.
Solomon ignored the teasing and pointed at her sling. "How is your hand doing today?"
"It is getting much better," Lune answered, adjusting the silk fabric slightly. "But I still cannot move it freely."
They turned away from the gates and walked back through the pristine palace corridors. Solomon recounted the events of the long night, detailing the hidden catapults and the cavern base.
Lune gasped dramatically and widened her emerald eyes at every single plot twist. She played the role of a shocked listener flawlessly, even though Vera had already delivered the exact same report to her an hour ago.
Syra listened to the story and smiled brightly. "Since you dismantled their hidden base, does that mean we no longer need to worry about the attack during the royal sermon?"
Yue shook her head and snapped her jade fan open. "We cannot feel relieved just yet. It remains unclear if Solomon wiped out their entire sect or just a forward operating branch. Furthermore, there are four evil sects scattered across the Eastern Realms. We have only encountered two of them so far."
Solomon furrowed his brow, recalling his recent encounters. "What exactly is the deal with these evil sects and their constant obsession with royals and nobles?"
"They target those with high bloodlines for a ritual designed to revive the Heavenly Demon," Yue explained, echoing the warning from the previous night.
"Pavilion Leader Jin mentioned that ritual," Solomon nodded, processing the concept. "But I still cannot understand the logic behind it. Is it genuinely possible to revive someone from the dead with a ritual? How is that any different from standard necromancy? If they simply use necromancy, the revived Heavenly Demon would just become a puppet bound to the caster. A puppet never retains its original strength, making it weaker than the summoner. What is the actual point of doing all that?"
Yue pondered the valid critique as they navigated the marble halls. "I do not know the exact mechanics of their magic. According to the ancient scriptures, the last Heavenly Demon perished over four hundred years ago. I suspect the term ’revival’ is metaphorical. The evil alliance likely plans to select and appoint a brand new Heavenly Demon to lead them."
Maximus shifted his bronze shield on his back and joined the conversation. "Then why would they need a complex ritual? They could just appoint someone as their new leader without kidnapping anyone."
"The newly appointed Heavenly Demon might need to perform a blood sacrificing technique to gain forbidden powers," Yue suggested, keeping her voice low. "Consuming royal blood could act as the catalyst for that ascension."
Solomon let out a quiet sigh. "All of this is just an assumption. Nobody actually knows the truth about their plans."
"That is correct," Yue agreed. "However, the other pavilion masters have already forwarded our intelligence to the Righteous Alliance. Those orthodox factions are currently tracking the evil sects and cracking down on their known bases across the realms."
Solomon headed straight to the royal bathhouse to wash the dried blood and forest dirt from his skin. He stepped into the warm water and relaxed his tired muscles.
The floating bronze owl hovered near the ceiling, angling its crystal lens to focus strictly on his face to maintain his privacy.
Solomon leaned his head against the tiled edge and opened the floor to his viewers.
"I have a few minutes before breakfast," Solomon announced to the camera. "Ask whatever you want."
The translucent blue interface immediately scrolled with questions.
[1Fizzy: how did you figure out they were using catapults?]
"They kept dropping onto the watchtower from an empty sky," Solomon explained, splashing water over his shoulders. "I just followed their horizontal flight path backward into the forest."
[Fatal_Beauty: are you keeping all that cultist gear?]
"I will trade it all at the Vanguard Exchange for points," Solomon answered. "Carrying random swords is a waste of energy."
[Mezz_3863: what is the plan for today?]
"Training my students until they memorize the next sequence," Solomon replied.
He finished his bath, dressed in a fresh gray academy uniform, and walked to the grand dining hall. He entered the room and noticed the banquet table looked vastly different than the previous days. Plates of sweet pastries, spiced sausages, and delicately sliced fruits covered the wooden surface.
Lord Jian had kept his word, instructing the kitchen staff to prepare a morning menu based entirely on Elizabeth’s preferences.
Solomon took his seat between Elizabeth and Lune. He grabbed a pastry and took a large bite.
"How is the new menu today?" Elizabeth asked, turning her head to watch his reaction.
"It is great," Solomon responded, reaching for a piece of spiced meat. "The flavors balance out perfectly."
Lune picked up her porcelain teacup and glanced at the spread. "It must get rather boring having to eat the exact same style of food every single day. A repetitive diet ruins the palate."
Solomon swallowed his food and shook his head. "I disagree. The quality of this food is excellent. However, I would also like to eat from your personal menu one day to see what you enjoy."
Elizabeth gripped her silver fork tightly. She narrowed her red eyes and glared at her empty plate, her jaw clenching from the sudden shift in attention.
On his other side, Lune froze with her teacup suspended in the air. A bright pink hue painted her cheeks. She quickly looked away to hide her flustered expression, taking a quick sip of her tea to mask her lingering smile.
[1Fizzy: the unspoken rivalry continues.]
[James_hayes: Solo Man securing invitations for future meals.]
[Fatal_Beauty: Elizabeth looks ready to stab a plate.]
[M00N: Lune is so happy right now.]
[Stephen-Wood: bro just wants good food.]
After finishing breakfast, Solomon led Marco, Arthur, Maximus, and Elizabeth out to the dirt rings. He picked up a wooden practice sword and demonstrated the transition into the seventh step of the Azure Crane Blade.
He guided their stances, correcting their footwork and ensuring they maintained a proper center of gravity.
Once the four students found their rhythm and began drilling the sequence flawlessly, the adrenaline from the previous night finally faded. A wave of exhaustion washed over Solomon’s body.
"Keep practicing the seventh form until you memorize the kinetic flow," Solomon instructed, tossing his practice blade onto the grass. "I need to get some sleep. I will check your progress later."
He returned to his guest chamber, fell onto his mattress, and slept through the entire afternoon.
He woke up just as the sun began setting over the Azure Moon Kingdom. Grabbing Eden’s Penance, he strapped the giant executioner’s sword to his back and walked out to the training grounds.
The courtyard looked entirely different. Hundreds of armored knights occupied the dirt rings. Soldiers polished their weapons and coordinated patrol routes, turning the peaceful training area into a bustling military camp.
Solomon spotted Yue standing near a weapon rack. He walked over to the pavilion master to find out what was happening.
"What is going on here?" Solomon asked, gesturing toward the gathered army.
"The preparations for tomorrow’s royal sermon have officially begun," Yue explained, snapping her jade fan open. "Lord Jian summoned the best knights of the kingdom to secure the palace grounds. There are exactly one hundred and twenty knights present today. One of them is even a pseudo-paladin."
Solomon surveyed the ranks of armored men. They carried an organized, disciplined presence that the regular gate sentries lacked.
Just then, a loud horn echoed from the main palace gates.
Another army marched into the courtyard. These newly arrived soldiers wore armor of a distinct, contrasting color. They moved with pristine coordination, their boots striking the cobblestones in perfect unison.
Solomon looked past their marching columns and noticed the intricate crest waving proudly on their hoisted flags. He recognized the symbol immediately.
The reinforcement army hailed from the Lumiere Dynasty.
