Chapter 196: Solomon and his Whereabouts

Morning sunlight eventually filtered through the tall windows of a grand reception room inside the royal palace. Marco, Maximus, Arthur, Elizabeth, Yue, Syra, and Lune gathered around a polished wooden table.

A heavy blanket of worry suffocated the group. Solomon had gone missing right after the courtyard ambush, and no one possessed any clue regarding his whereabouts.

Lune turned her head and looked at the white-haired royal. "Elizabeth, please check his live stream and find out his current location."

Elizabeth nodded and opened her floating blue interface to access the network. She scrolled through the endless flood of viewer comments on his channel.

"This makes no sense," Elizabeth reported, her brow furrowing in deep confusion. "One of his fans named GoonLord is saying that Solomon was playing hide and seek with the assassins."

Arthur pushed his spectacles up his nose. "What is that supposed to mean? Did he chase them into the woods?"

Before anyone could formulate a proper theory, a palace guard rushed through the open mahogany doors. The sentry bowed hastily toward the royals.

"Princess Syra, the silver-haired guest has returned!" the guard announced breathlessly. "He is currently waiting at the inner palace gates with a wooden cart!"

A collective wave of relief washed over the room. Marco, Arthur, Maximus, Elizabeth, Yue, and Syra immediately pushed their chairs back and ran out of the chamber to greet him.

Lune stayed behind in the quiet room. She waited until the footsteps faded entirely down the corridor.

"Come out," Lune ordered, crossing her arms over her tunic.

The shadows near the open window rippled. Vera vaulted through the frame and landed silently on the rug, immediately dropping to one knee before the golden-haired princess.

Lune glared down at the assassin, her emerald eyes blazing with royal fury. She did not hold back. She unleashed a scathing lecture, reprimanding Vera for the utter disrespect shown the previous night.

"You struck me in the neck!" Lune scolded, pacing across the room. "You put me to sleep like an unruly toddler and locked me in my own chamber! I am your princess, and you defied my orders to take me to the training grounds! You overstepped your boundaries, Vera!"

Vera kept her head bowed and accepted the scolding without flinching. "My duty is to protect you, Your Highness. That is exactly what I did. If a situation like that arises again, I will do the exact same thing without a second thought."

Lune ground her teeth together. She wanted to yell more, but she lacked a valid argument against the assassin’s loyalty. Vera had prioritized her survival over her pride.

"If it makes you feel better, Solomon is perfectly safe," Vera offered, looking up to meet the princess’s gaze. "He tracked the flying assassins to their hidden launch site miles away from the palace. He decimated their artillery, hunted their fleeing survivors through the forest, and wiped out their hidden base. He even captured the cult leader alive."

A soft gasp escaped Lune’s lips. The anger instantly melted away from her features, replaced by a profound sense of awe.

"You were right, Your Highness," Vera admitted, her tone softening. "Watching him fight in person is a truly eye-opening experience. His martial prowess is undeniable."

Lune smiled proudly, thoroughly satisfied by the validation.

"However," Vera added, returning to her deadpan expression. "I still think he is not a right match for you."

The warm smile vanished from Lune’s face. She puffed her cheeks out and glared at the operative.

"I did not ask for your opinion on that matter," Lune retorted sharply. She spun on her heel and marched toward the mahogany doors. "I am going to greet him now."

Yue, Marco, Arthur, Maximus, Elizabeth, Syra, and Lord Jian reached the towering iron gates of the palace grounds.

They halted in their tracks upon seeing Solomon standing near the entrance. Dark crimson blood and forest dirt coated his gray academy uniform from head to toe, painting a rather grim picture of his nocturnal activities.

"Yo," Solomon released the wooden handles of a sturdy cart and pointed a finger at the cargo bed. "I brought a delivery."

The group peered over the wooden edge and winced at the bruised, unrecognizable body lying inside.

"Who is that?" Yue asked, keeping her jade fan closed.

"I honestly have no idea," Solomon replied, stretching his shoulders to ease the stiffness. "He seemed like the leader of that hidden base, so I held back my punches to bring him here alive. If he holds zero value for your interrogations, you should just kill him."

Lord Jian stepped past the royal guards and offered a profound nod of respect. "You did an excellent job bringing the ringleader directly to us."

The older royal gestured to the Moon-Shadow Sentinels waiting nearby, instructing them to haul the unconscious cultist to the deepest dungeon cells. Jian turned his attention back to the boy. "Are you injured anywhere?"

"I feel perfectly fine," Solomon responded, tapping his boots against the cobblestones. "Except for the blatant lack of transportation in this kingdom. Walking miles through a forest while dragging a wooden cart gets very boring."

[LazyCat: bro stating facts.]

[Mezz_3863: yeah it was boring to watch him pull a cart for hours.]

[GamerGuy: I wish I could treat it like a cutscene and skip forward.]

[User12: do you guys want action all the time? He just single handedly dismantled a sect.]

Jian chuckled at the bold complaint. "You performed a great service today. Go wash up and join us in the dining hall. As a token of our gratitude, you may choose the morning menu. The kitchen will prepare whatever you desire."

Solomon lacked any desire to browse a complicated royal menu. ’I just do not want to bother picking dishes,’ he thought to himself. He turned his head toward the white-haired royal standing nearby to avoid the decision-making process. "I will just have whatever Elizabeth wants to eat."

"How accommodating of you," a familiar voice chimed in from the rear of the group.

It was Lune.
