Chapter 199: Meeting Another Paladin

"I am Sir Jeffery," he introduced himself. "I served as Princess Lune’s personal guard until her debutante season."

"I am Solomon." He rested his hands in his pockets. "Why did you stop me? If you just wanted to say hello, there are much better ways to greet people."

[Mezz_3863: Solo Man meeting the overprotective dad character.]

[1Fizzy: bro never backs down from anyone.]

[Foodball: six stars is no joke.]

[Tyler_Klare: why is this guy bothering him?]

Jeffery narrowed his eyes. "I learned about Princess Lune’s injury upon our arrival. She claimed it was a simple accident and she lost her footing."

"That is exactly what happened," Solomon agreed, nodding once.

"Princess Lune has undergone strict training since childhood," Jeffery countered. "She possesses excellent footwork. It is very hard for me to comprehend how she could simply lose her footing on dry ground."

"She does have an elegant sword style," Solomon noted casually.

Jeffery released his internal energy. A bright glow enveloped his armor as he locked his gaze onto the teenager. "Which is exactly why I refuse to believe she was accidentally injured."

Solomon stared into Jeffery’s eyes without a hint of fear. "What are you trying to say? Be direct."

"There are only two logical explanations for her injury," Jeffery stated, his hand hovering over his scabbard. "Either you are skilled enough to push her so far that she became flustered and ruined her own footwork. Or, you injured her on purpose and staged it to look like an accident."

Solomon frowned. "Are you accusing me of intentionally harming her?"

"I will find out the truth right now," Jeffery challenged, gripping his hilt. "Draw your weapon."

Solomon reached over his shoulder and grabbed the leather strap of Eden’s Penance. He had promised not to cause trouble earlier. However, he could do nothing if the trouble walked right up and invited itself in.

[Zoomtech: BOSS FIGHT!]

[James_hayes: bro is about to humble a six-star.]

[M00N: Jeffery is asking for it.]

[MattMickyD: Solo Man drawing the big sword!]

[Fatal_Beauty: do not hurt him too badly Solo Man.]

The surrounding soldiers noticed the escalating conflict. They stopped their drills and gripped their own weapons, forming a wide circle around the two combatants.

Suddenly, a resonant voice broke through the noise. "It is unwise to engage in unnecessary disputes before an important event."

It was the Paladin.

Gideon strode across the dirt ring. He wore the platinum armor of a paladin, his tall frame casting a long shadow over the courtyard. "One of you will simply end up injured. We gain nothing from this."

Jeffery turned to Gideon. "He harmed her! I am simply trying to uncover the truth behind the accident!"

[Alpha_char: the paladin stepped in.]

[Brerrel: Gideon has that boss aura.]

[Ron_Selby: Jeffery is so stubborn.]

Gideon looked down at Jeffery. "Are you doubting Princess Lune’s own words? Do you question her judgment and believe she is incapable of recognizing an intentional attack?"

Jeffery flushed a bright shade of red. He hastily released his hilt and bowed his head. "I apologize. I meant no disrespect to Her Highness."

"You are apologizing to the wrong person," Gideon corrected, gesturing toward the silver-haired boy.

Jeffery stiffened. He turned back around and glared at Solomon. Forcing the words through gritted teeth, he muttered a stiff apology. Jeffery spun on his heel and marched away from the training rings.

[Xenedra: bro got put in his place.]

[Nolland: Gideon is actually chill.]

[1Fizzy: the glare from Jeffery was so salty.]

[Scott_Carson: saved by the paladin.]

[Mezz_3863: Solo Man was ready to swing.]

Gideon reached up and unlatched his helmet, pulling it free to reveal a mane of white hair and a thick, weathered beard. He carried the dignified presence of a seasoned veteran who had survived countless wars.

"I am Gideon," the paladin introduced himself, his tone surprisingly warm.

"I am Solomon," the silver-haired boy replied, keeping his hands resting in his pockets.

Gideon offered a knowing smile. "Were you offended by Jeffery’s behavior just now?"

"Yes," Solomon answered bluntly.

A deep chuckle rumbled from Gideon’s chest. He nodded in understanding. "He means well, though his methods lack tact. I ask that you do not mention this incident to Princess Lune. She has enough to worry about right now."

"I am not a little kid who goes crying to everyone about how I was treated," Solomon stated.

Gideon chuckled again, clearly amused by the teenager’s unapologetic attitude. "I watched the broadcast of your battle against the fallen paladin in the ruined kingdom. You fought valiantly. However, I noticed something rather fascinating. The way you engaged him shifted drastically after your initial clash. Your technique evolved from unstructured brawling into a refined, flawless sword art in the span of a single moment."

"I am often told I am a quick learner," Solomon responded smoothly.

’If by a single moment, you mean fifteen agonizing years trapped inside a mental void doing nothing but swinging a sword until my mind broke,’ Solomon thought to himself. No one besides him knew the truth behind that sudden mastery, and he intended to keep it that way.

[Mezz_3863: I wasn’t watching Solo Man’s stream that time.]

[Zoomtech: ’quick learner’ is the understatement of the century. Tho I didn’t notice any difference myself lol]

[1Fizzy: Gideon is a good man.]

[Foodball: game recognizes game.]

"Indeed," Gideon remarked, observing the boy’s calm demeanor. "How many aura cores have you unlocked so far?"

"Only one," Solomon answered. "I plan to work on opening more after the royal sermon ends."

"Have you awakened your mana yet?" Gideon inquired.

"Not yet."

Gideon stroked his white beard. "Do you know how to awaken a mana core?"

Solomon pondered the question for a few seconds. "Most people say it unlocks randomly or through an innate talent, but there must be a specific biological theory behind it."

"Talent is a gift given by the heavens," Gideon explained, gazing out over the training grounds. "And so is the power to wield mana."

Solomon narrowed his eyes. "What exactly are you trying to say?"

"You possess extraordinary potential, Solomon," the paladin offered, turning his attention back to the boy. "You should join the Lumiere Imperial Vanguard. If you pledge your sword to our dynasty, I will personally ensure you awaken your mana and reach the absolute apex of your strength."

[James_hayes: THE RECRUITMENT PITCH!]

[M00N: bro is getting scouted by a paladin!]

[Tyler_Klare: Lumiere Vanguard sounds elite.]

[Fatal_Beauty: Solo Man moving up in the world!]

"What do you say? In just a decade, I will turn you into a walking abomination. You will be the most powerful man in many worlds."
