Lune reached her guest quarters, clutching the fluffy towel tightly around her damp clothes. She dried her hair, changed into a fresh silk nightdress, and sat on the edge of her mattress. She stared at the closed wooden door, her foot tapping impatiently against the floorboards.
A few minutes later, a soft knock echoed from the corridor.
’He actually came,’ Lune thought to herself. She knew it was Solomon coming to apologize for his cowardly behavior at the hot spring.
She had already made up her mind that she absolutely would not forgive him easily. He needed to understand how incredibly selfish his logic was.
She marched over and pulled the heavy oak door open, fully prepared to shout at him. However, the person standing in the hallway was not Solomon.
"What are you doing here so late?" Lune asked, staring at the white-haired royal.
"Can I come inside?" Elizabeth requested, glancing nervously down the corridor.
Lune stepped aside and let her enter the room. Elizabeth immediately pulled a dark, swirling sphere from her pocket. She crushed the Null Orb in her hand, instantly plunging her broadcasting owl into total darkness and securing a few minutes of absolute privacy.
"I heard everything that happened at the hot spring," Elizabeth announced, turning to face Lune.
Lune widened her emerald eyes in sheer shock. "Were you secretly eavesdropping on us?"
"I did not follow you," Elizabeth corrected hastily, her cheeks flushing pink. "Solomon’s viewers suddenly flooded my live stream. They told me that you two were doing some ’funny business’ in the hot spring and that Solomon had intentionally stopped his broadcast. I rushed over there to stop whatever was happening, but when I arrived, I heard the last part of your conversation."
Lune crossed her arms over her chest. "That still does not answer my question. Why are you standing in my room right now?"
Elizabeth took a deep breath. "I will not say that Solomon was entirely right about what he said, but he was not completely wrong either. During the night of the cultist attack on our dormitories, he had to shield me from the assassin. He could not swing his greatsword or fight back properly because I was standing right next to him."
"I became a massive liability. His fear of being restricted by the people he cares about is a genuine tactical reality. The same thing happened the other night when the palace was attacked."
Lune listened to the defense and shook her head. "I never said his tactical assessment was wrong. I said he was using it as a cowardly excuse to avoid emotional vulnerability. If his logic is absolute, would he also push away Marco, Arthur, and Maximus just because they consider him a friend? Would he abandon his own family to ensure he fights without restrictions? You cannot isolate yourself from the entire world just to maintain a perfect combat stance."
"You are absolutely right," Elizabeth agreed, leaning against the wooden desk. "But what Solomon said still holds weight. I am not exceptionally great at swordsmanship. I merely know the foundations and the basic forms."
"As the Third Princess of Bririth, I lack the political backing of my royal elders. Even if I had died during that cultist attack, my family would not have sent an army to avenge me. They would have simply issued a formal condemnation and then used my tragic death to push their own political agendas onto the neighboring kingdoms. He is the only reason I am still alive."
Lune tilted her head, analyzing the younger girl’s combat limitations. "If your swordsmanship is truly that basic, what is your innate talent?"
Elizabeth glanced at her deactivated bronze owl to ensure the stream remained paused. "I am an elemental mage. My affinity is water."
Lune blinked in surprise. "Water magic is incredibly uncommon within the Bririth royal bloodline. Your family traditionally excels in fire and lightning."
"Which brings me to my next point," Elizabeth continued.
"Has your bloodline talent awakened yet?" Lune asked, referring to the secondary, unique ability bestowed strictly upon royals.
Unlike commoners who only received a single innate talent, the royal bloodlines were blessed with two distinct powers. The successful awakening of a bloodline talent instantly marked a royal as the primary contender for the throne.
Elizabeth shook her head sadly. "It has not awakened. It most likely never will. The Bririth bloodline talent is Scorching Annihilation, an absolute mastery over destructive flames. My innate water affinity completely contradicts the royal fire. The two elements actively suppress each other inside my core."
Lune offered a sympathetic nod, fully understanding the brutal political implications of failing to awaken the royal fire.
Elizabeth shifted the topic back to the silver-haired boy. "Did you know that Solomon had a girlfriend before the academy?"
Lune nodded, her expression softening. "He briefly mentioned his previous girlfriend just before I left the hot spring. I genuinely wanted to ask him about the details, but I was far too angry at his stubborn logic to stay and listen."
"I did not expect him to have a romantic history at all," Elizabeth commented, rubbing the back of her neck. "I honestly thought he was completely dense and only cared about fighting and training."
"Unless a boy possesses some sort of severe disability in their manhood, they are all exactly the same at this age," Lune responded with a knowing smirk. "They all want the attention of girls. The exact same logic applies to girls our age as well."
Elizabeth leaned closer. "He mentioned to me that his previous girlfriend left him. Does that not mean he carries a severe breakup trauma? He has not recovered from that betrayal. He likely avoids relationships now simply because he is terrified of feeling that exact same pain again."
"A past betrayal does not justify pushing away the people who genuinely care about him now," Lune countered stubbornly. "He cannot let one bad experience dictate the rest of his life."
"Perhaps it would be best to just give him some time to heal," Elizabeth suggested gently. "He needs time to feel ready to trust someone again."
"I do not have endless time to wait around while he plays the brooding lone wolf," Lune argued, crossing her arms tightly.
Elizabeth let out a quiet breath and dropped the ultimate bomb. "I am not sure yet, but I think I like Solomon as well."
