They all finished eating with their stomachs full. Gideon wiped his mouth with a cloth and praised the rich flavor of the meal.
"This is incredibly tasty," Gideon said, nodding approvingly at Commander Feng. He then turned to Solomon. "You were absolutely right about him, Solomon. The meal was delicious. He is an excellent cook."
Feng puffed his chest out, a rare smile breaking through his usual scowl. "Thank you, Sir Gideon. Your praise honors me."
"Where did you learn to prepare food so efficiently in the field?" Gideon asked.
"I worked as the royal chef’s primary assistant back during my early military deployment, Sir," Feng responded proudly.
After they finished cleaning up the campsite, Gideon turned to the pavilion master. "Yue, you should take the tent. The rest of us will manage perfectly fine sleeping outside under the stars."
The canvas tent was relatively small, mostly filled with the heavy travel resources and supplies they had brought from the palace, and it was pitched directly next to the tethered horses.
Yue shook her head. "I will sleep inside the carriage. You three should take the tent."
Gideon agreed to the arrangement. He then glanced at Sir Kulbro and Commander Feng. "Would you two be comfortable taking turns during the night watch? You both must be tired from the long journey, especially you, Feng, since you drove the carriage all day."
Feng stiffened. He absolutely did not want to take the night watch. It had nothing to do with his honor, his ego, or pure laziness. He simply did not want to stay awake and guard the perimeter alone in this nightmare of a forest.
The unsettling howls echoing from the dark treeline genuinely terrified him.
Solomon stepped forward. "I will volunteer for the night watch."
"Are you sure?" Gideon asked, looking at the teenager.
"I just woke up from a long nap a few hours ago," Solomon explained, stretching his arms. "I feel completely fresh. I will take the watch."
"Very well," Gideon agreed, and the rest of the party retired for the night.
Solomon sat by the fading bonfire, passing the time by chatting with his audience. He made fun of their ridiculous screen names and poor combat advice, while the chat ruthlessly roasted his terrible social skills and complete lack of romantic awareness.
An hour passed, and Solomon grew incredibly bored. He had no idea what to do, and sitting perfectly still in one place drove him entirely crazy.
He could hear the distant rustling of bushes and the guttural howls echoing from the deep forest. He desperately wanted to grab his sword, march into the dark woods, and fight whatever was making those noises.
He wanted to get completely lost in the Whispering Wilds and not come out until he was satisfied with the carnage.
However, he could not leave his post. The night guard duty came with a strict responsibility to protect the sleeping party, and Solomon refused to abandon his post just to satisfy his battle urges.

Solomon looked at the glowing blue text and tilted his head. "I usually prefer getting points so I can spend them on whatever I want. But then again, there is a lot of stuff available in the Stream Shop that I have never bothered to explore because I never needed anything."
He leaned closer to the camera lens. "What exactly do the Void-Weaver Gauntlets do?"
[M00N: you will find out when you earn them.]
"Fine," Solomon agreed. "Challenge accepted."
Once the conversation lulled, the urge to wander into the dark forest and hunt the supposed dungeons Kulbro had mentioned returned in full force.
To distract himself, Solomon stood up, leaned heavily against the crossguard of Eden’s Penance, and decided to focus entirely on channeling his aura into his cores.
He closed his eyes. He channeled the bright silver aura from his primary heart core up into his newly opened shoulder cores.
He tried to force the energy downward into his hip cores, but the moment the aura traveled down his torso, it dissipated harmlessly into his muscles, acting as if it lacked a designated pathway to follow.
He repeated the process relentlessly until he managed to force a crude, temporary pathway open through his abdomen, but he still could not physically feel the dormant hip cores where the energy needed to pool.
[System: M00N has issued a Direct Echo! Gifted 5 Copper Daggers (500 Points).]
Message: "Do not just push the energy blindly. Treat the aura like a physical limb. Just like how you consciously clench your fists or grind your teeth, you must learn to feel the aura as an extension of your own body. The cores are already sitting there inside you. You do not need to create them. You just need to feel their presence and flex them open."

[1Fizzy: the chat is coaching him.]
Solomon processed the advice. Instead of forcing the energy downward from his chest, he tried reverse-accessing the hip cores.
Since the hips connected directly to his leg movements, he initiated a series of slow, deliberate martial stances. He focused entirely on the shifting weight in his lower body.
After several hours of continuous, exhausting trial and error, he finally felt the distinct spiritual cavities. He pushed his silver aura directly into the spaces, building the pressure until he felt two satisfying pops within his hips.
He had successfully unlocked two more cores.
He decided to keep the achievement a secret from the chat for now, saving the reveal for when the challenge deadline approached.
’Yue clearly told me that mastering aura and unlocking cores is incredibly difficult,’ Solomon thought to himself, maintaining his meditative stance. ’She said it takes standard disciples years of rigorous practice to learn how to channel aura safely through their pathways.’
He would have understood his rapid progress if he was engaging in physical training. He had spent fifteen agonizing years inside a mental void fighting a paladin, absorbing the absolute pinnacle of physical martial arts.
However, he had never practiced spiritual cultivation or aura manipulation during that time.
Is this sudden mastery related to the inherited combat knowledge the Paladin passed down to me?’ Solomon wondered. ’Or does my body simply possess an unnatural ability to learn and adapt fast?’
Solomon decided to capitalize on his momentum. He kept channeling his silver aura through his four open cores. He routed the energy from his chest, up to his shoulders, down through his torso, and into his hips, forming a continuous, circular loop of spiritual power.
He forcefully pushed the aura through the established pathways, actively widening the internal meridian channels through sheer repetition.
He gradually increased the speed of the circulation. The relentless internal pressure began to take a heavy toll on his body, making him physically exhausted.
Solomon quickly realized the profound benefit of his actions.
As he rapidly channeled and depleted his aura, his Indefatigable passive talent activated instantly.
The talent converted his accumulating physical fatigue directly into fresh stamina. In response to the fresh stamina, his immortal heart pumped faster, continuously producing more aura to replace what he spent.
By forcing this brutal cycle, his physical body grew incredibly resilient. His talent operated at maximum efficiency, generating massive reserves of stamina that ensured he could fight far longer than any normal human.
Simultaneously, his body produced vast amounts of raw aura, directly contributing to his overall spiritual growth. His meridian pathways expanded wider with every single cycle, allowing him to channel significantly more energy into his cores to boost his physical strength and amplify his combat power.
He continued the agonizing cultivation loop for hours under the moonlight. The intense spiritual strain eventually eclipsed even his accelerated recovery rate. Solomon ran entirely out of stamina, his body shutting down from the sheer exhaustion.
He fell asleep exactly where he stood, leaning heavily against his greatsword in the center of the dark, whispering forest.
